Thank you for your transparency. I love it. And the permission to follow peace at the end you mentioned the restrictor part and I know that that’s what I’m dealing with. There’s a part of me that just wants to not eat. So, you’re right! And I’m grateful that you are so balanced in your response to these issues. Thank you so much.

Here in Seattle we are very acquainted with Red Robin. I'd love to add some tips to help eating there:
*) lettuce wrapped burger or chicken breast. I ask for extra veggies on it as well.
*order a salad aa your side, no croutons. It comes with a sprinkling of cheese, which you can have them leave off.
*there is a plain salad with one or two chicken breasts.
Beware of possible add-ons like shredded cheese , tortilla strips, etc.
*Broccoli. Yep, it's gross in our 2 nearest Robin's, cuz in order for it to not go bad, it's frozen & microwaved.
I would love to hear which Ribin has the good tasting Broccoli!
Generally, Red Robin is sincerely interested in hearing people regards to healthier choices, while maintaining the ooey gooey NMF that sadly, most people want.
I hope you will try Red Robin again, and talk to them about what you can eat. They are cool people!
No, I don't work there, but my mom did, many years ago. I've seen them grow & evolve, and genuinely care about all their customers. Bon appetite!
PS: I LOVE plain steamed Brussel sprouts, and hate the massacre of them into NMF messes!

"The goal is to leave the restaurant feeling free." Great takeaway!

"Checking your own motives" is such helpful and nuanced guidance. I appreciate that BLE offers very clear guidelines for what to do if you want to fully embrace a program that addresses food addiction but at the same time refuses to say "one way for everyone." This is internal work. For me, my relationship with food is my training ground - my place to practice curiosity, self-love, growth in a way that no other challenge does. The more I stop judging others and pay attention to what's going on for me - the deeper the healing and learning. Thanks Susan for modeling this. I appreciate your courage in a world that loves to take shots from the sidelines, especially at woman talking about eating. ❤

I just want to defend the broccoli at Red Robin. I think it is delicious and I love being able to add a super healthy veggie in the exact amount I need to my meal. There is plenty for us to eat at that restaurant!

Broccoli is a super healthy veggie as are all other veggies including potatoes. However, not so super healthy when deep fried. But I'm not the veggie police or the restaurant police. If you love them, eat them. There is some good benefit in them.

The Broccoli is NOT deep fried. It is plain florets, frozen then steamed or microwaved. They came as a side in response to customers asking for healthier choices.

Please please tell me which Red Robin you go to. We have 2 near us, I love them but the broccoli, while a good thing, is microwaved and is pretty much like Susan described. Please tell me the location! Thanks!

@@jewell8201 I’ve never even seen deep fried broccoli in my life. Are you talking about the fried Brussels sprouts Susan talks about in the video?

@@alexisodonahue3858 I don’t understand what’s wrong with microwaved broccoli..? That’s how I steam it at home too.

I didn't eat this in a restaurant. I pan fried them in a cast iron skillet at home. Tator tots from the store and 2 eggs over top with some vegan cheese melted over them. Nothing I haven't been eating but normally I air fry the tator tots and don't over eat. I was in immediate agony from overeating. I couldn't eat that evening. I didn't eat the next day. I was in pain. This was Friday and it is now Wednesday and I'm still in pain. Since I'm alive, I don't think it was the eggs. Lots of bloating so maybe my body couldn't handle the frying for some reason. But my trainer told me Monday that I wouldn't do that again. And since I've only been able to eat minimally each day, yep, he's right. I won't do that again.

Some people don’t digest fat well, and I’m one of them. After eating at restaurants I often have nightmares, and experience inflammation/swelling. Gluten exposure can also cause inflammation, especially in the brain for people who are sensitive to it, so it makes sense that panic etc. can be experienced after eating out.

A high lipase digestive enzyme might help, if you are not already taking one. There are some good gall bladder formulas out there as well, which can be useful for sluggish bile or if one is missing a gall bladder. Very important for fat digestion and assimilation, but everyone's situation is different. I understand many reading may know this, but I thought I would throw it out there just in case it's useful for someone. Grains in general can be very inflammatory for some, but again, everyone is different. Avoiding glyphosate is important, as it's not something one can wash off. Oats in particular are heavily sprayed right before harvest...fortunately organic oats are easy to find these days.
I work in direct care psych and in the wrong person, gluten can actually bring on schizophrenic symptoms. Any organ system can be gluten sensitive and cause serious symptoms that people never relate to diet. Back in the day when we started hybridizing wheat to have a much higher protein content, (last stats I saw was from 3% to 17%) the admirable goal was to feed the world and eliminate global hunger. Talk about the law of unintended consequences. The wheat DNA strand is now so much more complicated than it was before and causes so many issues for so many people. Corn is so GMO now that I can no longer eat it. It's tempting to try organic which would be non-GMO but I am not willing to take that chance. Some pizzerias lightly coat the pans with cornmeal so the pies will easily slide off the pans and big wooden spatulas. My local gourmet place no longer does that, they said there are too many people that have issues with corn. We need to quit messing with stuff and trust that Mother Nature put things in the ground as they were intended.

It doesn't sound crazy to me. Special occasions are the hardest for me. My husband is turning 60 tomorrow and we are going out with friends on the weekend. I'm worried that I will lose control. They have vegan items on the menu and even vegan desserts.
