ONCE UPON A TIME SAN FERMIN

  • Once upon a time, a spell was cast… a city was transformed into the world capital of joy and festivity.
There was triumphant boisterousness everywhere, the hullabaloo of people dancing joyfully.
That city is Pamplona during the festivity of San Fermin.
A story that is rewritten every year, with the noisy, dramatic sound of the ‘Chupinazo’, the ceremonial rocket that inaugurates the fiesta.
Sun and noise invade the streets in a tide of red neckerchiefs.
The encierro - the bull run - is the heart of the fiesta, a tribal initiation rite.
The bulls run loose or in a pack, driving a path among hundreds of runners whose hearts are in their mouths, watched by amazed - and often terrified - crowds.
The streets are where the fiesta really takes place.
The bull run seems to last for ever, although it only takes a few minutes over 787 metres.
Gastronomy is another crucial element in the festivity.
The open-air lunches of the young (and older) people in the streets of the Old Part of the city stand out.
The sages consider that the roots of the festivity of San Fermín lie in the way of being of the people, the soul and embodiment of the famed fun and joy that reigns in the city.
Pipes, drums, clarinets, and the tireless and omnipresent city band, “La Pamplonesa”.
    “Come on, then, let’s start”
Of the motley crew that fills the city, the most curious and best-loved creatures are the ceremonial figures of the giants, cabezudos, kilikis and zaldikos.
There is not just one San Fermín, there are many at the same time, for everybody. Locals, foreigners, Basques or Australians.
Friends, you're all invited to the next San Fermín.
    “ Viva San Fermin!!”
    "Gora San Fermin!!"

One of my most memorable traditions in Europe was the candle lit hymns in the night with the community.

Sinceramente se non venivano usati gli animali sarebbe veramente una bella festa!
Rischiare la vita con i tori in quel modo, mi sembra da imbecilli, poi cazzi loro!

It's an ancient tradition, i hate the bullfighting part, but the running and the concurso de recortadores, which are people jumping over the bulls does 0 damage to the bulls, also it's not like they have a bad live to begin with, they are considered like sport stars and when we kill them we use their meat, idk what you think that happens in your country when they don't need the bulls but i assure they are not having a peaceful Life either
