SINANDULOY: A name synonymous for veneration

Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe's (SCT) Sinulog 2020 version begins on the first note when a latin song Sanctus (Holy) plays, convincing a modern Filipina to participate in a holy religious Sinulog procession while at the peak of her street party craze.
SCT's masterpiece is among its grandest spectacles from its 2-year rest with over 200 performers packed the grandstage - nearly 100 intrumentalists plus a heavenly goosebumping 10-member choral in band accompaniment.
Sang by the angels in Isiah 6:3, Sanctus is an ancient solemn Christian hymn of adoration sung before the prayer of consecration in traditional liturgies. A famous version was by Libera. (Check youtube for its million hits. Lyrics via google).
The troupe reminds the young generation to sustain connection with God and His holy child Sto. Nino - the reason for celebrating the Sinulog Festival for over 30 years.
It has a strong veneration concept that speaks a serene communication with the Sto. Nino where children today are challenged to make a choice between a culture of worldly temptation and a culture of salvation.
Theirs (SCT) is breathtakingly elegant, and the uplifting song beckons the new breeds to be aware of their spiritual relationship with the holy providence as an antidote to the angst and pressures of modern life.
Truly, SCT's intellectual choreographers, creative costume and props designers inspire everyone's Sinulog journey to the depths of their own consciousness, that in a way or another, our young ones (including young ONCE) find time to pay homage, and rejuvinate spirit.
Having these said, I fearlessly say that SCT is the strongest to potentially snatch the championship crown for the NTH time under the Sinulog Based category.
Alas! Sinanduloy, a name synonymous for veneration.

I really love the Sinulog oh Sinulog part where they are divided into three groups. Different sets of cheoreography but it feels as one. Ang galing! Napakalinis. Napakaganda.

I’m just grateful that this happened few months before the pandemic. The amount of time, effort and energy to prepare for this. Not like what happened in our local festival which falls on March. The participants was so disappointed for the postponement of the festival dance after months of preparation.

Dinagyang Festival is the best Festival in the Philippines. Amazing upbeat music, choreography, custume and authenticity. Reason twas a hall famer awardee for the best tourism event in the Philippines. Dinagyang is savage. 💪🏼🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🇵🇭

Sinanduloy dominates Sinulog Festival 2020 for 13th title in 20 years

Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe (SCT) displayed its utter dominance once again, claiming the grand championship crown in the Sinulog Festival 2020 season 40 Sinulog Based (SB) category on 19 January in Cebu City.
Known as the dancing pilgrims, SCT, the most dominant cultural troupe in the Sinulog in two (2) decades, won its 13th SB crown in twenty years from 2000 with a 2-year rest in 2018-2019, the years that Sinulog spectators missed the group in that stretch.
Clad in red and white, the team's theme evolves in keeping the traditional faith of the holy Senyor Sto. Nino alive despite the fast changing fads of the modern times that mesmerized some 15,000 grandstand audience in its excellent performance, proving once again that its group is a titan class of its own.
Unlike some other SB contenders, SCT during its ritual presentation, immediately presented its Sto. Nino de Cebu veneration brilliance in the opening salvo and gradually stepped up mightily when it turned its signature moves, expeditious floor formations, graceful dancers usually seen amidst minimal display of props, into a soft transition supported with a strongly perfected pitch choral rendition expressing homage to the holy child while snappingly handling fans, candles and flowers.
The crowd-drawer SCT is never traditional in revealing concept in A-B-C. The choreographers make sure that the beauty of the routine is disclosed in a detailed manner with an awe-inspiring execution as every performer cautiously lined up to the beats of the drums, and so with the heaven-sound of trumpets.
The group from Tangub City of Misamis Occidental supremely reigned in all five criteria - theme/concept/ritual, performance, choreography, costume, props, and musicality.
SCT receives a cash prize total of P2.1M covering the championship prize, P1M for best in street dancing, and P100K for best in musicality proving for an impeccable masterpiece where they showed world class finish.
Its choreographer, Professor Emelio Pascual receives P50K being the best choreographer.
At the end of it all, however, SCT elegantly presented another trend-setting SB idea that left no doubt they still hold the standards of the aces and queens in the annual Visayas-based event.
Its comeback performance was a legendary example of dancing to express not to impress in promoting Filipinos' religious culture like the Sinulog.
