Second time I make I made it for about 50 people and served it with a vegetarian Greek meal, I got tons of compliments. Only thing I changed about this recipe was I added 2 tablespoons of butter to the pastry cream, it makes it creamier and doesn’t get so stiff after cooling.

This is perfect! My elderly neighbor just gifted me a bag full of Satsumas and lemons from his yard! I made Satsuma jelly and will give him a jar to thank him, but now I can make this beautiful cake with some of his fresh lemons and bring him some.
My sister has a really tough job. She finally got some time off to visit. I already told her I'm going to roast some lamb chops and pan fry some potatoes for her. But I think I'll surprise her with this cake too. Wish me luck Dimitra, I hope it's to her liking!

Definitely will try this one! Suggestion: I put labels on my dry goods that show the conversion rate of cup to grams. EG Bread flour is 127g/1c, sugar is 200g/1c and so on. This makes it easy for me to weigh dry ingredients even when recipes call for using wet measures. I like the consistency I get from the conversion. Question: are you certain your casserole dish was a 9"x13" because it looked more like a 6"x10" (or similar size).
