I imagine Yu had an easier transition, since the P4 anime came out only a couple years after the game and basically set the standard for his character going forward. P5 anime Joker left much less of an impression on viewers, so most people just pulled his personality from the Mementos Mission manga and the occasional bits of cockiness he had in-game.
Joker probably haa the deepest voice out of all the modern Protags. Even Yu had a certain gentleness. Joker straight up sounds like an executor of justice type.
