just got mine a few days ago, I would have to say it has been working flawlessly... my house has never been cleaner! The advanced extendable mopping and self cleaning is a game changer! If it can keep working the way it is for the 3 years of the warranty period, it would be the best $2k I've ever spend on anything by far...

8:48 awesome vacuum system. I love the bonus video recording and headlights feature. I also want this video and headlights feature ON robot LAWNMOWER. Unfortunately My place is a little too cramped for this current model and home base, plus I need higher furniture to avoid the LIDAR scanner head.
the lidar "tower" would be quite an obstacle to get under some lower furniture... it should be able to be retratced when it needs to go under the sofa etc...
question is - how reliable the too-many-promising-feature robot would be :) ...I am using Ecovacs T8+ with Pro mopping module (Oscillation mopping) for like 3+ years with zero mechanical issue , yes some software issue but Ecovacs built pretty solid hardware for T8+ (I said T8+ because some X1 owner complained the issue - which I guess the more technological hardware the more issue the robot tend to have!!)
Appreciate that you added the quick line about privacy and data handling. Would like to hear you do more analysis into that esp as these devices become so ridiculously capable. The responsibility on the manufacturer of having good stewardship in their software systems should be increasing as the tech gets better.
I've done a lot of research on this and it's a trade off. If a robot vacuum has an RGB camera + laser sensors its going to have the best obstacle avoidance. Roborock used to have a camera on their vacuum robot combos but removed it because of privacy concerns. Now their top model (S8 Max Ultra) has an infared camera on it (deletes images immediately} along with laser sensors. It still has good nav/obstacle avoidance but it's not as good as their previous S7 MaxV ultra. They even made a new S7 Max Ultra without a camera but it has worse obstacle avoidance than the S7 MaxV ultra did. If you're worried about privacy then you get a Roborock if you want the best nav+obstacle avoidance you have to get one with an RGB camera until laser implementation can catch up if it can.
The best example I can give you is a RGB camera implementation is usually better at avoiding stuff like cords and navigating tassels on a carpet a non-rgb camera model is more likely to run this things over and get stuck. Use case would be you're out with your family and want to clean your floors there's more confidence in the job being completed with a RGB camera model than one without. The confidence level depends on your house.

Does the map/vacuum support multiple floors? I have a deebot robot vac and it’s pretty good but I have three floors and it will only save a map for two of them. Granted, I understand one would need to physically move the bot but it would be convenient to support several maps.

There are channels like VacuumWars that are specialized in providng unbiased and not sponsored reviews, and the clear winner was and still is Roborocks S8 Pro Ultra. And before that is was his predeccessor S7 MaxV Ultra.
That said I'm fan of all your Apple related content and watch every video on your channel. Not fan of sponsored content thou.

Man oh man , you are nice and cover most of the new features with passion but seriously? Camara? Edge cleaning feature? Those are your key features? Why camara is important to you in a robot vacuum? It helps you clean the house better? And the edges one? Did you had a robor cleaner ? I have the l10s , and for example the big improvement of no need to fill up or drain the water is by far great as the prev robot had an issue with the amount of water and the amount of time you need to fill up and drain.

Not gonna lie I still wouldn’t trust a camera on those things. There are people out there who know loopholes how to access that stuff even if the company doesn’t save the video someone will know the program enough to bypass those privacy protocols. Plus with a mic installed even worse. That’s a no way for me.
You can just turn obstacle detection off and tape over the camera and mic if its not for you.
What are you doing in your house that's you're so worried about someone going through all that trouble to see?
