- I catch up with Josh Smith and Jon Deiley of Australian prog-meets-industrial metal band Northlane. We talked about their latest album Obsidian and its writing process - as well as synthesizers, cats and of course their dream festival which takes place in an imagined post-war Neo-Bergen.

I love listening to metal heads talk about cats
As a band trying to fuse metal and electronics, and also heavily inspired by Northlane, the discussion about how Jon approaches synths and what their writing process is like was immensely appreciated. It is super validating to know that their process parallels our own in a lot of ways, and I hope they continue experimenting with different electronic sub genres on future records.

This episode was real cool. They've always been really chill, down to earth blokes, so glad to see nothing changed! Being from Australia, i followed Northlane as a major fan from Hollow Existence until Node. (I personally preferred the metalcore / Adrian side) But now, I might just give them another shot. Nice one.
