This is crazy to be "sitting down" with the main man behind the truth of reasonable doubt. That album changed my life. I grew up in a hustling household when crack first came out. My late older brother and best friend took the bait when his main man from seat pleasant md started counting a stack in front of him while my brother was earning $20 cutting grass in the summer heat. Reasonable doubt was my first rap album ever. I never liked rap or saw the point of it until I heard that album.When I heard reasonable doubt it felt like Jay was an older brother figure but with the positive business mindset that I had (which made my brother want me to hustle with him cause of my business sense). Jay got me with "with all my brothers it ain't too late to come together/ cause too much black and too much love equal forever". That is when I bonded with him as a person through his music. During my darkest hours as a teen going on 20, reasonable doubt just kept me up. I was basically forced to go to college to not break my mom's heart who saved $30k over 20 years working for the phone company. I felt college was a waste of that money and it ate my soul up going to class knowing I was right. I had to drink just to deal with the misery of wasting my time and her money when I knew I could start my own enterprise and move her out of what was basically a condemned house. My point, Reasonable doubt helped me through that time in my life. And to be sitting here with the real man behind all those stories Jay was telling is crazy. And to hear the heart of the man I was connecting to is crazy. To find out how good and real of a dude you are makes it all make sense. Funny thing is, I would always have this recurring dream and never have understood it. I would dream me and Jay were long time friends. And I would be waiting in his driveway for him to meet me.
