    As a healthcare provider..working on the floor for over 35 yrs..I truly always had empathy for my patients..but after a couple of stays in the hospital myself..it certainly gives you a new prospective on the way patients feel..after my cervical spine injury in 2016 ..corpectomy/ fusion..I had to go on disability..but in November/December of 2023..I spent 3 weeks in the hospital and a month in rehab..after a fall..4 fractures in my back and fractured my humerus completely into...what a traumatic experience in the hospital ..the neglect ..and lack of knowledge..and yes as a woman ..truly was ignored..I truly have PTSD from it..the virtual reality project of healthcare providers having this tool is much needed..it certainly will benefit their patients..great job!!! Maybe expand it to include an in-house stay of patients

    As a healthcare worker I can agree with everything you touched on. On my nursing school journey as I work for a hospital. There are some days I just want to quit for multiple reasons. It’s hard to feel positive about healthcare in USA but I pray that it changes for the better.

    As someone who runs the training for an agency supporting people with disabilities, I feel like your project would be something incredible for our direct care staff to be able to experience what it’s like as a person with disabilities. Is this something that your company is looking to make widely available in the future? I would absolutely be interested in hearing more about it

    Jen I have to say I didn't health care for about 5 years I had to get out because emotionally I couldn't handle it I worked in a nursing home! But I got to tell you you were invigorate everything I love about the medical field. I was the caretaker for both of my parents and you are so right on everything you're saying and if you could ever get to Congress and get in front of them and bring your points up I would like to think that someone is intelligent as you as experiences you along with the people you're speaking of can finally start to make change happen!! It is worth their shot of you trying to escalate exactly what you're doing expedited girl you got this I mean you are making so much sense if it's blowing your mind could you imagine what it would do there! Stay as passionate as you are we need more of you and the medical field many blessings glad to see your back and feeling better

    I found this video very interesting. Im not in health care now although I worked for years as a CNA and then later as a scheduler in a home health care facility. My daughter is an RN who worked in the hospital for a few years in ICU Trauma. She got to the point where she realized that wasn’t why she was drawn to nursing when she felt that all she was doing was drugging patients to keep them still. Her and a colleague decided to open an assisted living facility where she is greatly involved with her clients daily living struggles. It’s been a learning curve but she is very happy and has plans to grow her business and expand. I think nurses are heroes and I thank God for you every day. Thanks for all you do and thanks for sharing you and your life with us! I have a dog just like your Milo and he has a personality that is over the top some days. lol dogs are the best!

    I’m 73 y/o and worked for 45 years as corporate VP for an international housewares mfg company. I traveled to nearly all US states during the course of my career. Now retired and widowed, I find myself subjected to sometimes weekly medical visits for a variety of conditions that come with aging. For the very reason you mention, I do not respond to surveys as the are so poorly worded to the point of being a complete waste of my time. Keep up the good work, Jen. Been there, done that.

    I give a 9 always with my primary care provider. 1 because I'm very intuned with my body. I have several problems and I was on narcotics, for several years. I'm now no longer on narcotics and I've had 5 back surgeries both knees replaced. I still need shoulder surgery on both shoulders. Plus I'm currently dealing with latent tuberculosis. Im on a 4 mth treatment with rifampin 300 mg 2x a day. So My 6th back surgery has been delayed and my shoulders will be taken care of after I heal from back surgery.

We could do everything right, but CMS will be like oh buuuuuut it doesn't quite meet this metric - like WHAT?! How can you tell us to do this when it doesn't add up for our members?! I would challenge the perspective that patients are not at your vocabulary "level." It implies inferiority. You could be treating an astrophysicist and their vocabulary could far exceed your own. I wonder if there is a way to say that patients come with a wide array of life and educational experiences? And, could it be that to be most effective as providers, the medical language we use inside of the healthcare system needs to reflect that?
    I love all your videos. I have been binge watching the Vlogmas videos in the background while working!

    As an educated non-healthcare provider, I personally find it insulting that you are instructed to write your directions for your patients on the sixth or seventh grade level. How pompous of an attitude from the presenter. I understand, not speaking in technical medical terms however that doesn’t mean you should talk to the patients like they are children unless of course, they are children.

    • @mey7579
      @mey7579 3 дні тому +2

      The average American reads on a 7th to 8th grade level. I think it was a good idea to dumb down the directions.

    • @AmySimmonds-luv4Jesus
      @AmySimmonds-luv4Jesus 3 дні тому +5

      Please keep in mind, many patients are not educated and their reading level is 5th or 6th grade level. Instructions have to be clear and written at a level that MOST people can understand. It is equally insulting to those patients when they receive Instructions they can't comprehend. Not only insulting, but dangerous because they may not follow their instructions and it can affect their health.

      I’m educated and I would rather medical professionals start at a 7th grade level and then that allows me to ask additional questions. I always want to know “why” about everything.
      I have a spine physician who is excellent, but I think he speaks at a higher level with me because he can tell that I’m educated, but sometimes I get lost in his medical jargon. As long as you get what you need for your health concerns, I think that’s the most important thing. You may be surprised how little people know about the medical field and their health conditions. For example, my Mother-in-law didn’t know that Honey Nut Cheerios aren’t good for her since she’s a diabetic. It happens.
