- A powerful earthquake rocked the entire island of Taiwan early Wednesday, collapsing buildings in a southern city and creating a tsunami that washed ashore on southern Japanese islands. This report aired on KTLA 5 News at 6, Apr. 2, 2024.

@@nightowl6811 My god! It seems to be horrible. Here, in Buenos Aires, we don`t have earthquakes but in some districts near the Andes (mountain range) it is very common.

I just watched the movie “The Impossible” and this is the first thing I see after. That’s crazy. Praying that there is no Tsunami and everyone will be ok.
It's been upgraded to a 7.7
It's reported as 7.2 here in Taiwan. I'm in Taichung on the opposite side (west coast), and it was a 5 here. I'm on the 6th floor of a 15-storey building, and we were swaying pretty good.

It’s difficult to know now what 7.7 is. I prefer the Richter’s scale. My understanding this is about 9 if it were Richter.

@@javiruiz8365 This comment was posted before April 5, 2024s, 4.8 earthquake near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey and after the 7.7 Taiwanese earthquakes on April 3 2024. Earthquakes around the world can cause other earthquakes around the earth. Scientists need to reevaluate the nature of the tectonic plates effects after such earthquake activity.
