A lot of people don't know this but this song was written about an encounter Jon had with a girl scout trying to get donations and didn't sell him thin mints.
On every album they have at least 2-3 tracks that are unbelievably perfect, just went through all their music today but been stuck with this on repeat for most of the day💯
this song was actually recorded before DGD was a band, look up "farewell unknown - your last lullaby" its will swans band before DGD and they did this song.
I really admire Kurt's approach . Where he says "the one contact that I loved so much " made me always just assume in the reprise that he was saying " my contacts arrested " been singing it that way for years lol. I find all the writing in DGD to be highly misunderstood . But it sounds so tight .
Death Star was what really got me into DGD. It will always be one of my fond favorites. Especially this song. Kurt and Jon together worked so damn well- and I wish Jon had been on Happiness. Something about Jon's line in this: "Your licensed M. Bison got stabbed with a five dollar syringe" hits like an uppercut from Tyson.🤘
@ShiPshapeD00d yeah i agree dude. ALL the musicians make the band not just the vocalist. and im starting to come around with DTBM2. its like you said the more i listen to it the better it gets
Reminds me of a picture I saw online somewhere, its a girl scout smiling at the cam across the street from a burning house and the caption is 'Next time you'll buy the fuckin cookies'. I lul'd hahaha
@ShiPshapeD00d Fair enough. definately NOT a fangirl though haha. i think the dudes a total asswipe. he just has an awesome voice. and I agree every DGD era sounds sick. DTBM2 was okay, i expected a lot better but it wasn't a total letdown.
@TheSynisterGates I saw them last year with We Came As Romans and Kurt was amazing. I cant help that youre (maybe) a Jonny Craig fangirl but in all truthfullness, Kurt was a better fit for DGD. Jonnys good, dont get me wrong. But when I look through my cds in my car or my iTunes, I prefer to listen to this album and Happiness rather than DBM or Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean. All great albums though. DBM II is pretty good though. I love DGD no matter the singer, I just really dig Kurts stuff.
Kurt Travis had a whole different vibe than Jonny and Tillian. He was way more EMO and struck by the whole sappy kinda whinny voice but like I felt it. Personally only about a handful of the songs he’s on real hit where as Jonny’s whole fucking what would two albums The whole damn thing is in my “shark bite” playlist I listen to each song one by one Tillian is hit or miss but I love his older shit
@TheSynisterGates Good to hear that then! I despise people (mainly scene fangirls) who only like DGD for Jonny, and not the simply amazing musicianship that is also put into it. and Yeah Jonnys a dick. As far as DTBM2, I like it but you really just have to let it grow on you man. Its not like every other DGD album and it immediately clicks. The more you listen, the more you appreciate it. Just throwin this out there, good having an actual decent convo with another DGD fan on youtube lol
@ShiPshapeD00d well yeah his range is better but im talking about the tone of his voice being more soulful. has nothing to do with range. although it doesn't hurt that johnny is stronger in that department as well. and I listened to DGDs live album with kurt on it.... it sounded awful. idk its all a matter of opinion though.
I put "If you gonna wear the uniform sell the fucking cookies. Don't come to my house asking for a handout" as my facebook status. I was called an asshole, and someone tried to sell my girl scout cookies.
This song is awesome :]. But i think it wasn't cool when they kick out Kurt and made Johnny Craig back in the band after what they been through. It doesnt matter who sings better Kurt or Johnny as long as they make kick-ass music.
@KrustytheKiller Kurts songs were the best. This album and Happiness were flawless. Kurt just fit DGD way better than Jonny. Jonny is just as good as Kurt but Jonnys range is wider. In my opinion Kurt Travis>Jonny Craig, as far as DGD careers.
Curt or jonny i just cant stand tilian hes so synthetic this music has a real heart there way too pop n its cause of tillian the same reason will wanted kurt out he enda up doing common dude
I liked when this was a Farewell Unknown song a lot better (your last lullaby). Seemed to flow a lot better, as much as I love DGD the FU version was a lot better.
A lot of people don't know this but this song was written about an encounter Jon had with a girl scout trying to get donations and didn't sell him thin mints.
Can't blame him. I mean, if you're gonna wear the uniform- sell the fucking cookies.
Is that seriously true?
@@optionfalse-gb6hq sounds reasonable enough, who can say?
Wait what?? DGD is well known for having baffling lyrics of all time. Jon mess especially you gotta like decode that shit!!
@optionfalse-gb6hq absolutely not, it was taken from this specifically "A.C Lerok, bitches get stitches"
On every album they have at least 2-3 tracks that are unbelievably perfect, just went through all their music today but been stuck with this on repeat for most of the day💯
Listen to farewell to the unknown you'll like them
this song was actually recorded before DGD was a band, look up "farewell unknown - your last lullaby" its will swans band before DGD and they did this song.
holy shit thank you for this, I had no idea until today
I find it odd nobody is talking about Kurt's first line, "I'm cutting myself with my own morals." I don't know why but that really speaks to me.
Bleeding all over yourself from self inflicted belief is a bitch n’shit. 💙
i always listen too this song when im in a happy mood its like my happy song for some reason
4 years later, nice
6 years later, nice

If your gonna wear the uniform than sell the fuckin cookies. Favorite DGD lyrics.
+Your_Savior_23 never even read the lyrics hahaha omg
+Chloe Williams Jon Mess is the shit haha.
omg hearing Jon scream cookies made me lmao
he actually got this specific lyric from a reggie and the full effect song
The last part of the song deserves a song of its own, such an emotional ending.
Next album...Burning Down the Nicotine Armoire Pt 3?
Complete the trilogy :)
We can only hope. Fan for fucking life.
***** but its already burned
Nope, it was burning in this one but there's still some parts that need burning
+joemcbobinite I doubt there will be a part 3, if anything Tillian will probably kill it like he did a bucnh of the other songs lol
joemcbobinite they need to complete the turn the lights off theology too
The death star album is definitely my favorite.
this is my favorite dgd lineup
"If your gonna wear the uniform you better sell the fucking cookies" haha prolly one of my favorite lines in the history of DGD
skylmt69 How I train employees SUBWAY Restaurants.
Mine too. That line applies to so many things in life.
such a beautiful song :)
came by in my playlist randomly. Cool song
2:22 end of evaporate?
clint smith what do you mean?
David Pottinger Will used the same guitar part at the end of evaporate (during the throwback section)
@@NOVA92x yes! everyone misses that reference.
Isn’t that also a Burning Down the Nicotine Armoire part 1 reference?
@@Mrblonde62495 yes, it's a very similar and riff, it just sounds closer to evaporate here
merry christmas from 2023!! have a good new year everyone
great job!
Amazing
Guys, listen to Your Last Lullaby by Farewell Unknown. Its no DGD, but its Will and Eric's old band, plus, Jon is in it.
words to live by
Best album Dgd Ever made! I miss kurt!
2020 2nd to Rock Solid!!!!
You know that's fucked up man, everytime I pick you up and I spend MY MONEY on you
This brought back my love for their self titled album
death star is my fav album by them.
One of their best fucking songs
Kurt will always be the best for the band
Yes.
yess
so long as jon mess stays, im happy
the great and mighty cheese wheel yuuus
yeshhhhhhh
Holy hell listen to Your Last Lullaby by Farewell Unknown (the band most of the members were in before DGD). Mind blown.
SilversteinRescue Most? Will and Matt are most of dgd XDDD Even though thats 40% lmfao
Inpatientsnake they're the main men behind their sound and song structure
@@Inpatientsnake Eric was also in Farewell Unknown, so yeah, most.
IM DRESSED IN WHITE, SHINE SO BRIGHT, HAIR SO TIGHHHT
wowowowowwowwowowowowowo...genial!!!!!
@ShiPshapeD00d yeah i agree dude. ALL the musicians make the band not just the vocalist. and im starting to come around with DTBM2. its like you said the more i listen to it the better it gets
Farewell unknown did it first ;) but then again it was pretty much dgd.
It’s 2021 and I just got addicted to this song 😂
the awkward moment when the inexperienced listener of this song thinks it ends at 2:20 ;)
This was released a day before my birthday.
for the longest time I thought this song said,
"Do you think about erections,
do you ever wonder what the consequences are?"
7 years later, and I also have the same problem, and thats still what i hear
I like to cover the vocals sometimes and occasionally I can't help but sing 'erections' just because it comes off better and I hate and love it
DGD....me love you long time
0:29 and 1:21 sick as guitar playing x)
Don’t know why, but it gives me a feeling of Christmas
I always think it says "Do you think about erections."
2:22 the breakdown says "we smoke the dro"
It's f**king mind over matter.... that shit hurts
some what in between!!!
@TheSynisterGates I know, thats what I was saying when I put "Jonnys range is wider."
Kurt is WAY better in DGD though, Kurts really good live too.
I didn't know they made a part 2 😂
Mine too
do you ever think about erections?
it's fucking mind over matter
Lmao I thought that too but Nah
you've ruined this song for me
Fuck you I can’t unhear it now
Reminds me of a picture I saw online somewhere, its a girl scout smiling at the cam across the street from a burning house and the caption is 'Next time you'll buy the fuckin cookies'. I lul'd hahaha
No its DGD's old vocalist Kurt travis. now of A lot like birds
Hell yeah, i do the same myself!
@JoelavaJoe Thanks
@spanishlatkes dammit. im starting to hear it now too.
No joke when I first heard this song I moaned.. Talk about an eargasm x)
@lukesellarss really? i always though happiness is my favorite onee
Last!!!!!!
thats kurt dude!
They should continue the tour and have Kurt sing for a lot like birds and DGD
I let my turtle listen to this song and it turned to browser XD
i've had that song for awhile and i don't think Jon Mess is in it!?
Farewell Unknown. Look up the song Your Last Lullaby.
@spanishlatkes It cannot be unheard. :c
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Kurt sang in this album, not Jonny...?
did forever save MySpace daysz
Yeah, I realise that now. I just thought so because of the video: Jon Mess progression timeline.
"If you're gonna wear the uniform, sell the fucking cookies! Don't come to my house!"

Someone help me out..... at 2:07 what tattoo is that?
1 dislike. They didnt wonder what the consequence were.
Now they are dead.
We can all learn from this.

i just put that same thing on a diffrent dgd video
The girl scout and M. Bison didn't like this song.

WTF... I didn't even know FU turned into DGD till just now. ._.
ture no one knows good music anymore :/ how sad
