Make as many videos as you want. Every minute of them gives us viewers either the knowledge or power to repair things ourselves with some competency and or a laugh a minute. You're smart about finding help to lift heavy large oddly shaped parts.
The pain from heavy lifting never goes, it just changes and worsens some as years pass.
It causes nucleic impressions in lumbar vertebrae, the resulting geometry is a pain in several ways.
    That was a wise lift.

Unfortunately, Rams are now imported into Australia where they're converted to right hand drive, and sold for inflated prices. Purchasers fail to understand that body parts and panels for repairs are difficult to acquire, having to endure parts importation, extending waiting times and high dollar value. An example is a body shop next to my work, three Rams awaiting windscreen. Have been sitting for 3 months as the windscreen suppliers await import deliveries. Another great vid Ray.👍👍🇭🇲

Reminded me of the time many years ago when I was newly hired at some store and they tried to prank me. Boss told me to move a box from the front of the store to the storage area. I picked it up and brought it to the back with a bit of effort. When i came back out, half the staff were just staring at me. Asked why. Apparently it took three of them to bring the box out in their attempt to mess with me.
From that day on, if something needed to be moved, I was the guy to call.
That's what happens when you work as a landscaper for 15 years. Every day you get to work out 8-12 hours. Makes me strong.

The guy that opened it up, it was still full of fluid but gears busted all over inside. Put a new used one in, it is silent compared. also they made sure to put the right lube in it, i now suspect the first one needed.

I would have first spun the rear wheels while jacked up and see if they wobble. If so, most likely the wheel is bent, not the rear-end, so try it with an undamaged wheel. If not, then perhaps just the axle is bent and not the whole rear housing. But, your instructions might have been to "replace everything", in which case results of above tests would be "merely interesting".

I wok on old stuff ,like my 1990 Yj, and those after market lug nuts are not solid, the Mopar stuff really sucks, if you dont keep an eye on em, the chrome covering with bust off and you end up using socket sizes that dont fit the lug nut over the phoney chrome lug nut,s, when you buy after market lug nuts look for solid ones, make sure the seat taper is correct

I seen a guy doing the same thing on a pickup truck on the same style lift when he dropped the rear end out it made the rear end light and the truck did a nose dive off the lift it was not a good thing for me I would be putting a jack on the front of that truck you never knew

Then wonder why my body is screwed now? Nope I don't.
But that's a two guy job that axle hahahaha.
. The replacement in hr and a half. Tops

Must be the season. Because I just replaced a rearend in the same pick up. 😂 wasn't collision related though. Pinion bearing gave up and after we told him we can just replace pinion, ring and bearings the customer said "nah just replace the whole thang" 😂 I will never understand people like I do autos. Oh well. Have a good one ray.

    • @NemoConsequentae

He was maybe thinking of the trade off costs of the labour for replacement vs. the whole axle. Then there is new vs. used, and OEM or aftermarket improved?

    • @autodoctor6512
      @autodoctor6512 2 роки тому +1

@@NemoConsequentae I guess but I still don't get it. Replacing the entire rear assembly cost him just under $1300.00 (used btw) the ring and pinion would have been a 2 hour wait and $500.00 price. I try to ignore the prices of things but sometimes the customers talk to me directly. I didn't mind the extra money. It just didn't seem logical. In the end though wasn't my truck or decision.

@@autodoctor6512 Oh, I'm, not saying that it is actually cheaper, just that that _could_ have been his thought process, and not that it is correct.
