MANTRA THAT PROTECTS FROM NEGATIVITY | KARPUR GAURAM
This mantra, derived from the Yajurveda, is a powerful invocation to Lord Shiva.
कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारम् भुजगेन्द्रहारम् ।
सदावसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे भवं भवानीसहितं नमामि ॥
Karpur-Gauram Karunavtaaram Samsaara-Saaram Bhujage[a-I]ndra-Haaram |
Sada-Vasantam Hrdaya-Aravinde Bhavam Bhavaanii-Sahitam Namami ||
Meaning of the Mantra:
The Karpur Gauram Mantra holds profound symbolism:
Shiva, known as Karpragaura, represents purity akin to camphor.
Karuvatra signifies an individual who embodies compassion and empathy.
Sansarsaram represents the essence of all creation.
Bhujagendra haram refers to the one adorned with the garland of the serpent king.
Hridaya aravinde, also known as sadvasanta, symbolizes purity and being "in heart" like a lotus. Just as a lotus remains untainted by its muddy surroundings, Lord Shiva resides untainted within the hearts of beings, unaffected by worldly events.
The mantra pays homage to Parvati and Shiva, in the form of the divine Goddess Bhavani, as it bows to the God Bhavnsahita Nammi.
This mantra is believed to have many benefits, including:
