Ray, you are doing a great job. You are using the right stuff and you won’t regret it. Not having to redo things later is the benefit of spending the money now. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Hello Terry, That's the plan! 496 BBC Stroker!
Hello Ray,
Great update, such a lot of progress, well done. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Take care
Paul,,
Thanks, you too!
Very impressive, seriously great components meeting up on this chassis. Jay Leno should stop by. Merry Christmas Ray to you and yours.
Hey Mark, Yes I’ll hit Jay up but he just recovered from his serious accident, so maybe next episode I’ll have him swing by.
Ray, these videos are great! Thank you for making them. I have a 1972 Nova that I’m building with almost the exact same set up. BBC, 4L80E, Full ride tech 4 link suspension, mini tubs, and a 9” QP rear. Can’t tell you how awesome it is to find a helpful videos series like this installing everything.
Quick question for you about the QP rear… did they weld your 4 link brackets in for you when you ordered it? I’ve been wondering about that lately. Thanks again!
Hello Nicholas, Thank you for tuning in! Sounds like you have a awesome build going and using all the right parts! Yes QP has the Ridetech jig in house and will weld your 4-Link tabs on for you. If I had to do it all over again I would have QP weld the lower tabs inboard 1/2" per side to fit a 12" wide wheel. I ended up going with a 18x11's with 6" backspace. I fit up the wheels and tires after the DSE tubs were done and gave the overall width to QP and they did the rest. After installing everything, from mounting surface with rotor on to the lower tab I have 6-5/8" I'm running a Nitto NT555 G2 315/40 ZR18 and have about 1/2" clearance inside and out. I hope this helps with your build!
Long tubes with a 4 to 2 to 1 make more torque than a 4-1 mid length, probably giving up about 30-ft-lb on a 500hp setup.
Hey Brian, I am getting a lot of conflicting information! I would run long tube 2-1/8" headers but with the Ridetech Tru Steer System I am forced to run mid length headers. I was told by both the engine builder and his dyno tuner that I will gain low end torque up to about 5000 RPM over long tube headers, long tubes are better at high RPM in both HP and torque. I'm running a 496 BBC stroker with 625HP and 600 foot pounds of torque in a 3000 pound car. I do not think I am going to notice a little loss in torque and HP???
@@RaysGarage Hey you can never miss what you never had! Lol 😂 long tubes like almost always make more power across the board, but where they really accel is making low speed torque and the more overlap the cam has the greater the effect it has. This video shows very well how headers actually behave. ua-cam.com/video/9Lckpw_81PQ/v-deo.html
@@bcbloc02 Great video and excellent info!!! Maybe I should start a “Go Fund Me” for a set of custom 3K long tube headers! 😂
@@RaysGarage I am pretty sure a guy with your shop and skills could fabricate their own. 🙂 Of course then again for a street beast 90% of the time you won't be able to use the power you have so even more would be wasted anyhow. 🙂
@@bcbloc02 Amen Brother!!!
Did the header’s have square ports and the motor have round exhaust outputs? I’m putting in the same motor and ordered the same headers bb10’s
To be honest I reall y do not remember exactly but I belive the heads have round exhaust ports as well as the Sanderson BB10 headers, these headers did fit and seal just fine. I do have to retorque the header to head bolts from time to time. After I ran the motor a few times the shiny headers turned dull which kinda pissed me off, I did follow the instructions and cleaned them very good before start up but still turned dull.
@@RaysGarage Father in law asked the question since he’s installing it. No effect on performance than right? No leaks?
@@Mrdjmanlive No leaks to date, Sanderson Headers does not use head gaskets, the instructions tell you to use Ultra Black, let it cure overnight then install.
Mid length headers are a waist! Might as well run manifolds, same thing
I thought this too until I did some homework and talked to several in the business, both engine builders and dyno tuners. Take some time and read this if you like. I also like the fact that I will not be dragging the collectors on speed bumps!
