I actually recommend choosing a bib over snowboard pants, especially for beginners. You're gonna be falling a lot, and since a bib comes all the way up to your back it has a full seal around your waist, which means no snow up your back or down your pants; the last thing you want to be on the mountain is cold and wet after only 3 or so runs
Going for the first time in January! I’m so excited! This tip for beginners is short and straight to the point, not overwhelming. Thanks!
@@blindmp3 yes. It was fun. It was tricky. I didn’t master it like I hoped but I was getting the hang of it. It was very packed. The line to the lift was about 45 minutes.
dang, hate when the lift line is liek that. We are travelign up to Idaho this year and fingers crossed their aren't as many beginners. :) :)@@dominickray5103
For beginners I think gloves and actual baselayers are pretty important too 😢
Thank you! 🙏🏼 just moved to Michigan but life long skateboarder, can't wait to try Snowboarding! 🙌🏼
My wife and I are going to Colorado in February to go Skiing/Snowboarding. Thank you so much for the information. As native Floridians….we really needed this. Lol 🏝️ ❄️
I would also recommend some wrist guards. I wish I would have worn wrist guards because I fell on an icy patch and broke my wrist and it ruined the rest of my season. From now on I will always wear wrist guards.
I would add that rather than just a long sleeve T-shirt as a base layer, it should be sweat wicking material, not cotton. I would also wear sweat wicking base layer pants/trousers, especially on cold days.👍
Hey Johnathan, awesome channel, this is exactly the content i have been looking for. Seeing you do all of these amazing tricks through out the videos i wonder if u could do a tutorial on how take a ramp, ( i always seem to hurt myself when landing). Keep up the goodwork man!
Thanks for this video it’s winter season here in Vegas and I just moved here from Hawaii been looking to snowboard because I surfed weekly in Hawaii so I’d like to give snow boarding a try but wanted to be properly prepared to shred, thanks again stay safe. 🤙🏼
just ordered your sticker can't wait to have it & as always cool vid boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like I always need this video lol lol
I forgot if I learned it from you or somewhere else(I’m VERY new to snowbaording) but closing a feature how to read the “sign” Or how to close one Was riding at four lakes alpine in chciago and saw a little kid (maybe 7) twist his ankle pretty good . Checked on him(first responder from my job) and then moved back a few feet up hill and put my board to “block” Was one of those etiquette things that the ski patrol guy said thanks for blocking So might be cool to help other newbies Thanks John
bruuu please keep puttin that gnarly heel side catch in your vids 🤣😭 so crazy glad that wasn’t worse for you 🙏🏼
this is such a good video
What allmountain board do you use?
Little bit of info for us bigger guys with large feet Never Summer boards after 160cm come wide from there on up!
What about the gloves?
@@JohnathanBuckhouse Could you pin a comment mentioning that gap? Otherwise people who got 9/9 from this video will get frustrated finding it's still not everything that they needed.
I need to know where to get cheap gear in / near Denver or copper mountain. Me and my gf are driving there day after tmrw. But we are from Florida, so we need to buy some gear as soon as we get there. Do y’all know of any good in person stores that would have the best prices. Or any particular thrift type of store there that usually has ski gear? We mainly need pants, or a one piece. And maybe some goggles, gloves, jackets, or base / mid layers.
You'll also need some underwear with that cool evolution logo. Forget about mittens/gloves, let your fingers freeze. Get more of that cotton dress for winter sports if you want to freeze completely. Hope it helps.
My boots are EU size 44.5, can I still use a regular board instead of wide?
What do you button your snow skirt to? I didn’t see any buttons on the pants. And mine don’t have any either.
My jacket and pants are the same brand so they have a connecting system that works great
I have noticed recently a lot of people wearing there googles under the helmet. Is there a particular reason for that? I have always just kept them on the outside as I feel like the strap around my head would be uncomfortable
I started doing this last year. I can hear better but I think it is just a look. A bit of a learning curve coordinating a thin beam/balaclava.
Not really uncomfortable. I have really sensitive eyes and going outside with out shades for too long in the sun will give me a head ache. I keep it under so that if I take off my helmet, my goggles don't come off with it.
Serious question ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️I’m going snowboarding next month, when getting my boots, I am a size 9. Should I go down to a half size “ 8 1/2 !!!!!!???
If you are renting no. Just get your foot size. If you snowboard more than 20 days a season then yes go half size down. You just want no wiggle room in the boot.
Thanks real helpful info i didn't want to spend much on a hemet and 10 bucks is a great price thanks a lot would recommend
Yikes that heelside catch looked nasty!
Just the video that is helpful for me. Going to Bulgaria in December for my first season. Do you ever take a small backpack with you on the mountain, or would everything you need (water, snacks etc) be fine in your jacket? Thanks
Depends, I don't pack at all unless I'm camping or partying in the woods for lunch. This is for a small 500 ft hill. I don't pack for many smaller 1,000 ft mountains either, unless my car or room is going to be relatively out of conveniant reach. Water is nice to have and can be hard to store in a coat, but you might have to even with a pack so it won't freeze, I just Hydrate with light beer mostly.
The powder skirt will keep a hat to hide helmet hair and a water bottle inside your coat just fine, but don't keep any expensive brand name hats or water bottles in there. A hard Nalgene bottle can be quite painful to land on too, 1:25. If it's an ungroomed backcountry style hill you might want to pack a little bit, and have medical supplies on you. When you get into 2,000 footers it depends on how much you want spend at the hill, or how available food and snacks are there.
A couple protien bars and some water tied to my belt will get me through a 10 hour day on any mountain you can't get lost on. I have so much fun I forget to eat until just before closing time usually. Also you don't get cramps until you sit down at the bar and try to go skiing again.
I always take a small back pack as I usually stay out on the moutains all day,. This would carry my drinks bottle, lunch/snacks, wallet and camera gear. Food is expensive in the resort, plus you can't beat the views at the top of the mountain where you can just relax and take in all the views eating your lunch. Just remember to take all your rubbish with you off the mountains.👍
How much money would it cost for the full set of gear for gear that’s decent for a beginner nothing like flashy and nice cause I wouldn’t want or need it as a beginner but like for the full cost of everything in this video including the snow board and stuff would it cost for a 6 foot male I’m hoping less then like $700 I really wanna try it out cause I like to skateboard and I think I’d like snowboarding but seems super expensive
Grab some used gear. Offer Up, Craigslist, Marketplace etc..
You can also look for deals/specials online, you can find a full set of gear for around 500. Lots of sites have deals for "last years" models that they are trying too push out.
I wear a 15-16 in shoes... Am I just s.o.l.? 😂
bib over pants till I die
I have a womens size 11-12 shoes...
For a beginner this doesn’t make sense no first time rider has any of this or Is going to buy it first time
This video is hilarious. “Don’t buy this overhyped gear, but if you need it, go buy the ones from my links.” Lol you influencers have no shame. Plus didn’t you almost a kill a kid? Clew sucks.
