Great informative video. I just got myself the powkiddy a12 and anbernic rg280v. Having a great time with them. The arcade feel of the a12. As for the rg280v just the quality and the pocketablility of the device. Both devices aren't perfect but it'll get the job done.
It is pretty good for the price, the SD card slot is a game changer (pun not intended), with the arcade design on top. I do have a gripe with the screen, it has bad fps/refresh rate or whatever you call it, the games just don't play as smooth compared to even bootleg noname handhelds I have, but are still definitely playable. One major flaw that you didn't mention is that the console offers GBA and SNES emulation, yet there isn't anything to act as shoulder buttons. That said, can definitely reccomend for 20$, just be aware of the cons.
If I mainly want a mini arcade to play mame games like pacman, galaga, space invaders, dig dug and such... is this a good choice? I play emulators on pc and the POWKIDDY V90 mainly, but I want a joystick arcade machine just for old retro arcade games.

ordered the a13, which can fold the screen like a laptop which makes it portable.
Hi. To play from the SD card, just format the card in fat 32, create a folder called "Game" and place the roms inside the "Game" folder.
It did not work for me. But when I used a 2GB card (hard to come across these days), it worked.
Thinking about getting two of these for the kids so they can link them together for coop play

what happens if the game displays the words in chinese. can it be switched back to english mode.
Yes. It can be switched.
On video that screen looks like hot garbage is it better in person?
It is better in person, but it certainly isn't an as good as an IPS Screen. It has decent viewing angles, though.
