I've been terrified of XL jumps ever since my injury on them 10 years ago. I'm wanting to get back to them and get my revenge. So that's what I'm training for now. It will likely take about a year to get to that point. This time I want to get footage hitting them. Over the past several years my friends all vanished from my life and my interests changed and I fell away from snowboarding. As a consequence, I gained a lot of weight and got in pretty bad shape. It's been 7 years since I was a decent snowboarder and 3 years since I have ridden one until last week, I made it to Woodward PC, and it felt so good to get turns in again. This channel has been a big part in me getting healthier and getting back into one of the best hobbies in the world. I'm down 10 pounds and I still have quite a way to go but I'm enjoying the journey. Thanks for your channel and the good vibes you put out there. Thanks Casey!
I'm in the same boat man. Stopped snowboarding because of injury and it's been years since I've gone and ridden at the level I want to. Determined to get back to it tho. I've missed it too much. Keep going 🏁
Absolutly love to hear all of that! Keep up the drive and the reason behind the work your putting in it's all paying off! Sending you the stoke in return!!!!
You’ll get there man! If you ever need riding buddies hmu, I’m in the area. Ride Woodward here and there but mostly Brighton. I’m not exactly tryna get to XL jumps but I’m always tryna progress in the park.
Thanks for the reminder that riding for yourself is huge. You don't always need the homies to hype you up, don't worry about who's watching, and it's not always about getting those camera shots. Just put your music in and flow! Often, I find myself snowboarding for the content or with the boys, and sometimes you just need a day to yourself to progress not only your riding, but your mind.
Casey! You're the reason I became a lifty and been saving to live to dream! Appreciate all the wisdom and good vibes you've got! Truck Cap camper is gonna be in full effect 2025
Ive been riding for 30 years now. I gotta say even at that level you still gotta go to the gym and cold plunge and eat healthy to stay on it. Keep up the great work!
I always feel like your style is more accurate and flowy, and it totally makes sense now when you showed these strategic tips and constant self-awareness to improve (which are something I kind of figured out by myself as well). When snowboarding gets to the next level, random hours are not enough. Hours spent on a more or less right trajectory are a must. Love your videos! Keep up the good work!
Great edit! If ever feel like dropping a heads up bout where you’re going riding, it’d be great motivation! I started riding at 45. I’ll never be a pro, but I feel good out there and ride clean. 1: Hammer the fundamentals. 2: Stretch, Core and Legs all winter. Consistent and light-medium work. 3: Hydrate. Rest. I’ve been working on jump this year. Making decent progress and staying healthy because the single largest risk factor, Edge Control!, has been hammered into shape. Hammer the fundamentals. There’s simply no way around it.
C dub this vid is gold. At 50 I'm riding better than ever due to cross training, yoga, and good diet - just about to get my park instructor certification. Your tips are bangers. Quick list for dudes and dudettes who don't have easy mountain access: 1. Season's pass to local hill (ride as often as possible) 2. Physical fitness 3. Logical progression, building block style to prevent injuries. 4. Learn a skill or trick regular, then learn it switch before the next skill or trick. Peace out. Nice riding, C dub.
Had an embarrassing day at palisades last year and it totally made me fall in love with the sport because of how bad I was. Fast forward a year later I have 8 mountain days total this year and I’m confident with my riding and carving If ur scared just do that shit bro and embrace the falls , laugh it off and hop right back up
Fantastic vid. My snowboarding buddies Cliff Washbrook and Shaun watch you all the time. They tried LMNT and passed some onto me.I used to suffer from a lot of leg cramps after snowboarding. Since taking it, no more leg cramps😊.
Great tips bro. My biggest fear is rails. I just started boarding 2 years ago but averaging around 20 days. Pushing yourself is the key. Also what really has helped me is just learning how to fall, just not to panic when I know I’m not gonna land it and slide out gently .
Yon made such a good point about some times just ridding solo. In a different zone. To me, it's the more therapeutic way to ride.. but the friends are always the best if you got something new..
Cannot agree more with the "ride by yourself" tip. Riding with the homies is a blast, but youre preoccupied with a bunch of distractions. Riding alone leads to solid progress, even in a single day of riding. Just make sure you tell some one you're riding and wear a helmet if you're sending it!
Nice video bro I dislocate my should’ve so many times 2019 i restore the shoulder just working out , took me a lot of time but now is feels like new, and now I’m getting back my shape again , confident And not scared anymore Being healthy and working out a lot I’m 31 years old and still improving
Casey you're the Jesus of snowboarding, you keep it steady spreading love and stoke to everyone around you and we see you bro! Hope to run into you one day! Much love brother
You got me on the LMNT, good stuff. Makes the boarding noticeably different. Stamina is on point during heavy shredding sessions. Great flavors too, Watermelon Salt for the win, best flavor. Thanks for the product plug bud.
Always an excellent set of tips, and a great drop as usual. My kid will be better than me soon. He was hitting the big jump line at snowshoe the other day, dude's still in the "fly like an eagle" phase (mittens spread and flapping), but maan lol his fearlessness scares the hell out of me. For the dream! We've got a few more weekends out here before this season's over, yeeewww!
Riding solo always sketches me out. But 100% agree on having a homie to keep you pumped on different tricks. It doesnt even have to be someone whos better if they match your energy to try something new.
good stuff. rock the shred. not sure if you remember me. the big bald bmx guy who lived in the red roofs and worked at the govy gen. have a good winter bro.
ah man I was there that day. lowkey forgot you were in the area, even though I saw your helmet. I did see cro stop on top of jump 3 though, everyone on our chair was thinking he had way too much speed til he stopped. It's kinda funny looking back and not realizing you were the guy filming him lmao. good slushy new england days.
23 years old, started riding in 2018, broke my legs and had to learn how to walk again. Since then I’ve never had more than 7 days in a season and this season I’m pushing 60 days just trying to ride every day. Broke my arm a few days ago and still riding and trying to push my progression because I’m just so hungry to get good at my craft. The biggest thing I’ve used to help my improvement is to befriend all the local rippers and ride with them, get as many days as possible, ride in every condition whether it’s fresh groomers, slush, powder, ice, or chop, and to hit features that aren’t comfortable and ride the line between my comfort zone and pushing the bar a little. I’ve dramatically improved after adopting those ideas
Hey Casey, firstly great video! lots of great tips that I will keep in mind for the next time I'm going to be able to get on the mountain :). I was wondering if you could give me some snowboarding advice based on my story as a snowboarder as I really want to improve my riding skills. I think compared to the majority of your audience, I'm not based in the USA/Canada and instead have mostly lived in Europe and thus have only gone on snowboarding trips in the French Alps (specifically Tignes and Val d'Isere everytime). I've begun snowboarding since I was very young, around 3-4 and am now 20, and would comfortably say my snowboarding skill is quite advanced in terms of basic mountain riding and my overall style. I absolutely love going super fast down slopes with no difficulties but what I love most of all is riding pow which we sadly don't get enough of in the French Alps :p ! However I am writing this because whilst I do consider myself a good snowboarder, I am absolutely a novice at two things which I really want to improve on namely: riding switch and doing tricks/park riding. Unfortunately when it comes to snowboarding time I am mainly hindered by the fact that I simply don't spend enough time on it. As I live relatively far away from the Alps, I realistically only snowboard for a week per year (usually in Dec/Jan; although this year I am going again this late March) which is obviously a very very limited amount of time. Because I find this specific week really precious and spend it alongside my family, I always choose to skip over trying to practice my switch stance (goofy for me) for a full day and instead always snowboard with my regular stance which I am very comfortable with. Similarly with doing tricks and park features, there are unfortunately really not a lot of parks in the Alps either, and are usually closed or super icy. Over the last few years I've really tried to focus on completing a backside 360 but it has never worked out for me and had several sketchy heel-edge catches. And because there is no pow usually, I am not able to practice simple jumps on random mountain features either sadly. So overall I was just wondering if after reading my story, if you have any tips for me as I am going into my next trip soon :) I personally feel like before trying to do park features, I really want to learn riding goofy but feel very very uncomfortable with it and realise that I will likely have to dedicate time learning the basics all over again for the goofy stance; but if you have any other specific tips I would gladly appreciate those of course :D Looking forward to your next vid!
Bro you literally just need more time on board!! Nothing else to it! Sounds like you know whats going on and have the right path, but you just need to snowboard MORE! Yewww
I took the 540 to the XL and tore my ACl missed two seasons haha. What advice have you got for me returning next season, was super confident still got no idea why it happened was solid!! backside impact defo hits different
yeah im at that point where i dont care if i fall in the park, i work too much these days and it saps my eneregy, so anyday on the mountain for me is a good day
Great video but I was expecting some pointers on how to do the actual tricks and “improving” snowboarding. The moral of the Story is really to get out there and practice! Thanks for the video 😎👍🏽
You've got it! There are only so many conversations you can have with someone to help click a gear to help them improve. Going every single day will only have you getting better and better
I wonder if you contact one of those epic shoe rebuilders on youtube and do a collab in the summer over extending boot life and performance. Might be worth it. Even if its shoe goo and needle/thread
Consider psoas-stretching, opens us up in the opposite way of sitting and riding, makes for the perfect method perhaps, good for health regardless, YMMV, cheers 🎉
Cr0bar is HOW/WHY I ever came to Mount Snow to try the mountain life. Pretty sure they had NO idea I was serious when he agreed I could sleep on their couch
I’m trying to double my doh but I’m struggling to push myself and not hold back. Because I typically ride alone I feel like I’m lacking that little push that forces you to ride to the edge of your skill. I think the tip about riding the same place consistently might be the key for me though. What’s more important in terms of progressing your skill; learning to ride faster while hitting side hits and doing basic flat ground tricks or focusing on a single trick until it’s mastered?
Riding fast is a good skill to have to keep you quick on your feet and practice high speed edge control. Focusing on a single trick is a different approach once you already have all mtn skills
Don't be too proud to take a lesson. I'm an instructor who has been riding for over to 25 and I take clinics to improve both my teaching my riding! UA-cam videos are great for tips, but an instructor at your level will be able to observe your body movements and help dial you in to get better faster. Quick tip, if you see some instructors at your hill ask them about who is a good instructor for learning ...(fill in the blank) and request for that suggested instructor.
We wear board shorts cuz there’s a pool usually accompanied. And 90% of people are nasty I personally wouldn’t want the general public naked anywhere near me 😂
Yes, there is usually also a swimming pool accompanied with it here, and the facilities are also shared (the sauna and pool), dressing rooms are split, nobody bats an eye, the most normal thing in the world haha. People here are usually very clean, hygienic and discrete/respectful. Never had a bad experience tbh. Like I said, its funny to see the cultural differences 😄
But also analyzing yourself. Why didn't the trick work, and what will we do different next time? Ask yourself that after everything you do video yourself and compare yourself to pros. Look at the difffference
Imagine being negative to CW, dudes so positive out here trying to get people stoked on riding and provide help to people. You should probably reevaluate your life hater!

Sober riding has been a game changer for me. Thanks for the inspiration and positive vibes.
Thanks for the stoke!! Yewww keep it up! Life is way better sober!

What’s more important in terms of progressing your skill; learning to ride faster while hitting side hits and doing basic flat ground tricks or focusing on a single trick until it’s mastered?
Make it your THING! Its like a workout almost. Gotta get the workout in 4-5 days per week to keep improving
Riding fast is a good skill to have to keep you quick on your feet and practice high speed edge control. Focusing on a single trick is a different approach once you already have all mtn skills

Thats crazy haha, you guys do sauna with boxershorts? Here in Europe its full nude mandatory. Funny to see that cultural difference
We wear board shorts cuz there’s a pool usually accompanied. And 90% of people are nasty I personally wouldn’t want the general public naked anywhere near me 😂
Oh and it’s always male and female shared facilities
Yes, there is usually also a swimming pool accompanied with it here, and the facilities are also shared (the sauna and pool), dressing rooms are split, nobody bats an eye, the most normal thing in the world haha. People here are usually very clean, hygienic and discrete/respectful. Never had a bad experience tbh. Like I said, its funny to see the cultural differences 😄
