Another great video Jason, I watched your Q and A video, was excellent..I gotta say tho, you sound like someone my age, middle 50's, but your youth surprised me..I always wondered how you could remember all the technical aspects and now I know...have a great day, YOUNG fella..lol
Haha thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. I will be doing another Q&A in the future
Cheers!
We need a house tour of THE Dragline
Great video buddy👍. Love the sound of all that heavy iron!
wish there was footage of the cross pit spreader systems we had here in Texas until the late 2000s
fed by twin bucket wheel excavators. Stripped overburden for the draglines. Awesome sight lit up at night.
Great to see a monster like that in action Bloke
Very nice video.. Thanks for sharing 👍. I've always enjoyed the mining, steel and forestry industries and the machines that work it.
Your welcome, glad you enjoyed it! Best!
Incredible mechanical beasts. Thanks for sharing.
Great video and think you for posting it. I know the bucket is large, but compared to the size of the machine itself, it seems almost ridiculously small. Especially the part that actually holds and move the material.
that's interesting to see the drag working on the job. life near cologne, there are big bucket wheel excavator coal mining. name of the mine garzweiler.
That's awesome I would love to see those monsters some day. Greetings from Pennsylvania!
Always love your videos.
Thanks for another great drag video Jason, I miss these machines. Spent many years operating the good old 2400’s . Back in those days one did not have to look far to see these especially at night with the boom lights swinging to and fro on many mountain tops in my area of Pa. Thanks!
His name is Justin I believe.
@@gusm5128 I believe You are correct, thank You.
Wooow that's impressive, I'll catch ya on the next one
Thank you very much for this video! No one really knows how coal is actually mined. Your videos are very informative!
Thank you glad you enjoy them!
Nice video. Thanks. The rocks have to be tough on the bucket and the dragline also, to some extent. I can't see a bucket wheel handling this very well, but I could be wrong.
I wish Jeddo Coal would put there draglines back to work so you could start filming them again
It's in the works!
@@PAmining Thats some good news. Thanks cant wait to see them
Great view. Easy to park that truck in the bucket.
Good size comparison isn't it!
They had one of these at the Juana rock quarry off Hiway 98 in Taylor county Florida before they closed about 10 years ago do to Anderson Columbia opening a quarry right across the road. Actually they had just put together a Second 380 right before they stopped digging, think they were running only 10 yard buckets on them.
needs a bit more oofm on the drag motors!!
I was thinking the same thing but I'm pretty sure I was told they were turned down for a reason.
I noticed the lack of dragging power. I'm wondering if it's because the base isn't on the most solid of surfaces and a strong drag would weaken the berm.
PA Mining do you ever think we’ll see the likes of the old giant power shovels return?
Very doubtful. You can do so much more with smaller equipment and clean and recover the coal better than with mega machines. Thanks!
Great!
What does a machine like this cost to run per hour?
Excellent video 👍👍👍 what part of PA. Are you from?
Is this the modular one from a previous video?
Old video or they up and running it again ??
PA Mining do you reckon you’ll be able to do doco on the Kom 575 super doze?
Yes sir
I never seen one of those
How many cast bucket a shift does your company like for the draglines to get?
It's usually just a general amount of Cubic M3 per day. Couldn't tell you what one this size moves but the real large class ones move up to 60k cubic meters in a 24hr period sometimes more
Its moving around 40,000 to 50,000 cubic yards in a 24 hr shift
Assuming a one minute cycle time and an 85% bucket full factor, that 380 is probably moving around 7,700 yds in a 9.5 hour shift.
@@PAmining I was going by a 15 to 16 yard bucket 2 buckets a minute
Sure is quiet if it's a diesel but I can't see a cord. Thanks, Pal and God Bless!
It is a diesel that controls electric motors. The new ones are even more electric but still have a diesel powering it all.
@@chazman4461Diesel-electric power? Diesel rotating generator for individual electric motors for each operations?
Is that an electric or diesel machine?
This one is electric. Thanks!
is this a stationary machine? I see no crawlers or something else.
It has shoes on either side so it literally walks to the digging sites. But veeeeery slowly.
@@Mike_858 Similar to how some of the lignite diggers in Germany 'move'.
Tips the overburden directly on top of the coal seam 🤦♂️
Not at all! The coal has already been removed there. What he is going is working on filling in to extend his bench for the next shot
Any chance we c an some how get like a 4 hour video of a drag working the same cut? Not going to lie, this hits the spot when a bit stoned lol
Blahahaha! As long as you don't operator while stoned lol. Sure
