Yeah, I agree with Moon that New Moon's name "Nexus" is funny, but not for the same reason Moon found it funny. The name "Nexus" means "connections or links to a system or group". It's ironic and funny that he chose the name "Nexus" because he severed his "connections" with his family when he betrayed them. But, regardless of severing his connection with his family, he's still linked to them.
