My church is looking at getting a digital mixer. Thanks for explaining how to use the unit. Need to understand the mixer as much as possible so I can train others. Looks great. Common guys you can't hear the mixer on your computer and get a correct understanding on how it sounds.
Sound Trap Studios You need the add on card that allows it to function as a USB or Firewire audio interface. Uses Mackie or HUI protocol for DAW control. I know my questions are the ability to apply the inbox effects from each channel to your actual daw channels (pre mixes etc)
Aha But currently the studio is set up using thunderbolt. There was some talk about the Thunderbolt card, but I think the Ethernet protocol (for which I am blanking on the name right now) is already implemented by Midas, is really the way to go. It's already used for headphone mix and remote snake. And if I'm not mistaken DAW as well.
I thought it has a 32x32 usb interface built in... Or was that not the case 2 years ago? I know the models that come out now have the built in interface.
I am a studio guy ive had my own studio abouut 8 years started with some tascam multtrackrecorders got the x32 and then the m32 it has been hard .ive learne to just do whatever is easiest for me. as far as using all the setting and setting presets i really dont mess witth that i just mix for what i need and i just start from scratch for the most part over time there are certain things th at i keep the same, but i feel your pain
The reason this console looks like, and has almost the same features as, the x32 is because Behringer bought out Midas. That being said the quality of the board will be FAR superior to the x32 because all of the components (not just the mic pres) will be designed by Midas. That means every thing from the faders to the Klark Technik processor. So you can be sure that this board will still blow the x32 out of the water.
Ryan Cox SoundGroup which owns Behringer, TurboSound etc bought Midas... SoundGroup acquired Midas and they are all children of the same parent company now..
Ryan Cox That's exactly what they meant to do. The X32 and M32 are, in effect (no pun intended), the same console with different build qualities, preamps, and prices.
I turned on my midas M32 and I cant get any input signal on any of the channels, it worked the last time I shut it off, any ideas? ive tried everything I can think of, maybe the mixer is kaput?
Hello, would there be a way to make a Spanish version? it would be very useful Hola, ¿habría manera de que se hiciera una versión en español? sería de gran utilidad
This may be the best board out there from under 10K, yet, seems lacking a lot for studio recording, I know it is pitched as a stage board. 2 ch only usb 2.0 recording? showing a cassette on the screen? lol. Cool, I guess they wanted us to say. No touch screen; there should be a reason for that. Having a Thunderbolt DAW control and multitrack recording either to usb or to sd card would have been better but then the price would be close to 10k? I like that this one is not locked with that horribly sample rate of 48k like many competitors! but still, I feel it lacks something or I lack more information. Not willing to shed 4K for only a mainly live stage board.
If you use the onboard USB recorder then yes, you only get 2 channels. However, the M32 ships with a USB I/O card that does 32 in/out audio and 1 in/out MIDI so you can hook straight to your DAW for full 32 channel record plus control surface. If you're on a Mac, just plug it in and select it in your DAW setup; if you're on Windows, grab the drivers from the Midas site first then the PC can run all 32 channels ASIO.
I'm sure to those who already know EVERYTHING about this console, went to engineering school and graduated with honors, knows what he's saying. He's talking extremely fast and using ONLY advanced terms. If you're trying to learn about this console and what it can do, this video IS NOT for you. Lots of his words are getting lost in the description. So again, this video MUST BE a recap for advanced studio/live show techs who went to school for the MIDAS/BEHRINGER consoles.

Although there are many cool things about the new digital world of audio mixers, there is not doubt that they still detract from the creative process. I can only equate them to common core math. Example an analog console may have 6 effects sends per in put channel. I want to send input 1 to the effect connected to effect send 3. I turn effect send 3 to the desired amount and bring in the return fader, when desired, which I have returned into input channel 22. I can now decide if I want to send that effects return into the effect on effects send 1, as an example, or not. Very quick! Very Simple. It is the equivalent of the example below. Standard Math: +32 -12 =20 The amount of moves to accomplish the same simple task in a digital mixer is the equivalent of the common core math equation. Common Core Math: Problem: +32 - 12 = ____ 12 + 3 = 15 15 + 5 = 20 20 + 10 = 30 30 + 2 = 32 3 + 5 + 10 + 2 = 20 I can make a valid argument that, the children today are being taught this ridiculous method to prepare them to relate the computer world. I won't go into the process involved in the Beringer X32 / Midas M32 to accomplish this simple analog task because there are plenty of UA-cam Videos to explain the process. My other complaint with many of the digital mixers is, that most of them only supply XLR ins and outs. This requires that the customer either purchase, all new cables for the equipment that uses standard phone jacks or tip ring sleeve phone jacks, or purchase adapter plugs. Allen Heath does a much better job in this department but may fall short in the effects and midi department. No one company has yet to appeal the the recording engineer or home recording musician. What one company offers has the other doesn't. I can only assume that the designer are not listening to the right people. It's like the windows operating system, you are just stuck with what they decide to give you. I would like to take the Soundcraft si Impact effects and EQ, add the ability to download and install waves plugins take the ins and outs plus add inserts to the full 32 +1 motorized fader channels from Allen heath but, use the Midas faders, preamps, midi and chassis design, then add an effect send section to the master input section. Example Six to eight sends assignable to three or four knobs though a single routing switch One buttons that assigns 1-3 and 4-6 or 1-4 and 5-8. This could also be duplicated and a separate section as monitor sends. Internal routing is fine for assigning the returns to input faders that maybe take up input channel faders 27 -32 or 25 - 32 on a separate bank. Those input channels, used as returns should also be select-able as stereo pairs as well, so one input channel becomes stereo the same as the single master stereo fader. Give me all this for the price of the M32 and I am peeing my pants! This will never happen in my lifetime, since none of the designers, of these digital mixers, are calling me for advise, but I can dream.
A very nice review! Thanks! Can you tell me how can I monitoring (by headphone) a live record while I mixing before sending it to my DAW on my computer?

Hello i have a question abuot m32consol Q:how i can change location of fader aux5&6 on page (aux in usb) to ch5&6 on page (inputs1-16)? Or create a shortcut on the input screen 1-16 on the desired channel to adjust the input volume with the fader?
Thanks for this.... is very helpful. A very basic question... does the unit support the Mac platform? Will I be able to treat this as an IO device for my mac running pro tools?
I'm guessing by now you found the answer as it was 2 years ago, but if anyone else has the same question, then yes it does. With the default USB card you get 32 in/32 out audio and 1 in/1 out MIDI. This is perfect to connect straight to Mac with no extra drivers. I use mine in the studio as a Mackie Control surface with Cubase and also for the monitor returns. It is fully possible to hook it up for live sound, using your Mac (or PC) for the plug-ins and run everything out and back in through the Card.
Nice video. Thanks for this review. Please can you do a video on how I can connect M32 with USB Cable to my computer, record the entire 32 tracks to my Laptop Computer, so that I can make few mixing adjustment after the show. I don't want the multi-track recording to affect what is going out of the m32 mixing console to the front of House(Main Mix), Subs (Mono) and stage monitor ( Bus1 and Bus 2)
How do you lockout/Restrict band members from have access to their individual in-ear monitor mix 'BUS' so they can only access their own mix and not mess with the other parts of the console/Mix on the X32/M32 Mix app?
***** Interesting to see the difference in pricing for exactly the same thing, with the exception of a different enclosure (I like the Midas one better)...
deetgeluid The bulk of Pre cost is in the R&D phase not the components, sure there is a minor price difference when using 'better' components, but that cost difference would be blown out by the costs to re-engineer the circuit using arguably cheaper components. Bought in bulk, the component cost difference would be minimal... IMHO
Hey, Rob! Jose here from Sweetwater. Great question! Currently (dependent on the protocol that you use - HUI, MIDI, etc.) it is limited to 8 faders. Since this console was mainly designed for the live sound side of the audio industry, there are some tricky ways to get around that if you are really interested in using all of the fader banks. I would love to speak with you more on this, so feel free to reach out to me directly at my contact information below. Thanks for your interest! Hello, Mathieu. Thanks for the questions. Open Sound Control is a compatible protocol with the M32 operating system, but is not officially supported. Most mapping is done via MIDI control command. Yes you can, there are actually several points you can tap into on the signal path. Post Gain/Low Cut, Pre EQ, Post EQ, Pre Fade and Post Fade... By default the dynamics sit after Post EQ and before Pre Fade. You can switch this per channel to make the Dynamics Pre or Post EQ. So if you want your aux send pre dynamics, then take your feed Post EQ. If you want in your aux send post dynamics, take your feed Pre (or Post) Fade.
@@lufferov "So if you want your aux send pre dynamics, then take your feed Post EQ" Can you please explain how to do that{step by step} . I have an exam thats why
+aldodaniel1986 Midas designed the preamps and software for the Behringer X32. So chances are that they do sound the same. And in this case, that's a good thing. Midas is awesome!
I have the behringer x32 and my church has the Midas. The both operate the same as same software. I have the digital snake and also operate ext effects also. I like both. No problems to speak of. I do like however that Midas has the view screen positioned up not flat on the board.
Hello! This is Jose Gonzalez from Sweetwater, here. Great question! I've worked with this board for quite some time. With the original version, you are able to record the stereo main outputs to a USB thumb drive. They have since updated the M32 to the M32 Live, which allows for 2 SD cards to be inserted to the back panel for multitrack recording. I'd love to go into more details on this, so feel free to reach out to me directly at my contact information below. Thanks for the interest! we just has this counsel professionally installed and set up our worship group and sermons. we have all the amplifiers and servers....I was impressed with the sound quality compared to the analog AH 3300GL board... dialing in the elec drum kit...vocals, electric and acoustical guitars (Bass) ...They look completely intimidating until you realize its the same as a 42 CH, analog....only layerd with 100s of features to most of all; have a pro set up...saved on board and to a thumb drive.....if you mess something up and can't find your way out.....O.S. or Easy button. this weekend will be first live action..nervous...heck yes... but, all I have to do is turn on and press the "button"....touch record on the dash...press record. that easy my suggestion...if you're looking to upgrade to the 21st century, for your church, or other...get professional quotes references then decide. only don't buy this on your own, or consult sweetwater...the have serious SERIOUS attitude issues
Let's face it, this is just an over-priced Behringer X32 with a re-hashed design to rip off all those people who still hold a 20 year old prejudice against being seen with a Behringer product! :)
I got to mix on a QU16 for a full day at a school fete. We used it as the FOH mixer and monitor mixer and it was absolutely amazing. For the price, you can't go wrong. The sound quality of it is great for the price and layering is easy to understand. I would say as an entry level console go for an x32 producer/compact or the QU line.
Why is the screen monitor so small. It is smaller than a computer screen. The advantage of a console is to work with physical button and avoid the difficulties of controlling on a software. But if the screen is smaller than a computer screen there are almost no advantges.
Hi, @dbltrplx! You can use the M32 as an interface (It can DAW control, but it's only 8 channels max). If you're looking for a control surface, I'd recommend something closer to the Behringer X-Touch Universal Control Surface: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/XTouch--behringer-by-touch-universal-control-surface Thanks for reaching out! +Roy Johnson The functionality is the same but the m32 has midas pro preamps and faders, plus it is going to have a firmware upgrade in order to record at 96khz, if these things don´t matter to you I think you should go for an x32
ah really? didn't know that. because they sound really similar. we will stay with the x32. ist a small club around 300 people and never had a problem! cheers mate
+max ferreiro The x32 is a great console as well and in terms of functionality and effects is the same as the m32, the only differences are the ones I mentioned above and I have heard that the m32 has no problems related with latency. Anyways both are great consoles for what they are
with the latency? till now i had luck with this i think :) Ok there is one thing and this are the mute group buttons and the buttons for the eq that are really not that great. For a Bheringer(Midas) product its really awesome.
The decision to produce a superior desk without 96 kh capabiltities absolutely limits its usefullness. Make it 96 kh and watch them start to fly off the shelves. Come on midas why so tone deaf when it comes to providing this.
Too much talk and zero action. When are we going to hear this mixer in action with a live band for example? I don't want to buy this thing without hearing a live band on it. If Allen & Heath could do it, so can you. Come on!
I have owned the Midas 32 for 2+ years. Support, in one word: AWFUL. This board is confusing and offers the engineer zero support when it comes to setup. There is practically ZERO info on how to use this with your DAW. If I knew then what I knew now (NO SUPPORT) I would have bought another mixer. I am so disappointed. This could have been an AMAZING addition to my studio if only there was a qualified support staff to help. Heck...I'd even pay for it. QSC offers UA-cam channels of how to use their touchmix 16. If only Midas had the wherewithal.
Route all your inputs and outputs in the I/O setup, cascade the I/O. Then hit DAW Remote. If you're on Logic go to control surface assignments and make sure the DAW recognizes it. It's meant for Live Sound, you can make serious money with it. There are UA-cam channels that make videos explaining how to integrate it with your DAW, any video with X32 it's the same thing.
No it' isn't! By the X32 the preamps are based on Midas, but they are no Midas preamps. They just based on. The M32 are Midas pro preamps. The faders from M32 are Midas faders, the X32 are crappy Beringer faders. The effect processor from the X32 is based on Lexicon, on the M32 i's ra real Lexicon.
Not a review. It's a sales head doing a rundown of the thing. No tech head definitely. Otherwise he would have picked up on the expandability through AES50 and the Dante card.
My church is looking at getting a digital mixer. Thanks for explaining how to use the unit. Need to understand the mixer as much as possible so I can train others. Looks great. Common guys you can't hear the mixer on your computer and get a correct understanding on how it sounds.

do we need an amplifier along with this to use big speakers on events?
yes you need powered speakers or passive speakers with amplifiers.

Even the remote software is exactly the same... sans branding of course...
***** Interesting to see the difference in pricing for exactly the same thing, with the exception of a different enclosure (I like the Midas one better)...
Just as they said the Venice had XL3 pre's. That's just a lie!
deetgeluid Want to elaborate...?
deetgeluid The bulk of Pre cost is in the R&D phase not the components, sure there is a minor price difference when using 'better' components, but that cost difference would be blown out by the costs to re-engineer the circuit using arguably cheaper components. Bought in bulk, the component cost difference would be minimal... IMHO
What is the sample rate of the console
48 kHz
How many devices can you connect?? iPads, iPhones??
Who was first Behringer or Midas?
Hey Great!!! video can you tell me what is the safe RMS value for this console??
Can you use the other 8 faders for daw, so you can have a 24 fader daw controller? I think that's what alot of people wanna know.
Thanks for your interest!

does sweetwater can ship going to philippines?
Can we feed AES/EBU input
Hi, Rajeev! No, you aren’t able to feed AES/EBU into the Midas M32. It only has an AES/EBU output.
Feel free to reach out if you want to chat a bit further on what you’re trying to do.

Is the M32 compatible with OSC ? Or any other mapping protocols ?
Hello, Mathieu. Thanks for the questions. Open Sound Control is a compatible protocol with the M32 operating system, but is not officially supported. Most mapping is done via MIDI control command. Feel free to reach out with any more questions.
Thanks for the interest.

Thanks for the video: excellent..!!!
How much price of this mixture
how do you turn the sound board on????
Really? LOL
Is this limited to just 16 outputs like the X32
Hey! Thanks for the inquiry. Great question! So - this guy has 16 XLR outputs… but it also has the capability of doing 96 x AES50 (dual AES50 ethernet jacks). If you want to chat more, let me know!
Cheers,

Does anyone know if you can switch the dynamics section pre/post aux?
Yes you can, there are actually several points you can tap into on the signal path. Post Gain/Low Cut, Pre EQ, Post EQ, Pre Fade and Post Fade... By default the dynamics sit after Post EQ and before Pre Fade. You can switch this per channel to make the Dynamics Pre or Post EQ. So if you want your aux send pre dynamics, then take your feed Post EQ. If you want in your aux send post dynamics, take your feed Pre (or Post) Fade.
@@lufferov "So if you want your aux send pre dynamics, then take your feed Post EQ"
Can you please explain how to do that{step by step} . I have an exam thats why
Its a good experience
I love mixer midas. Thank for tranning
This mixer looks like a Behringer x32 to me.... hopefully the quality is not the same....
Especially the quality of both is same, but the m32 has no latency than x32
Why? I get great sounds out of my X32. Maybe you ought to work on your technique
is this x32 in disguise ?
CHAMPIONS TV basically, yes. The X32 and M32 are, in effect (no pun intended), the same console with different build qualities, preamps, and prices.
+CHAMPIONS TV Yes I think it is; a very thin disguise apart from the extra 2000 qiud.
Put simply, the X32 is the "more budget-friendly" M32. They both work well, but Midas is premium compared to Behringer.
More like an X32 on steroids and cocaine after a plastic surgery job
call me old fashioned but at least with analogue stuff my 'snapshot" is right before me at all times, not embedded somewhere
Izzie Schitzenberg you're old-fashioned.
can i use 64 channel on this mixer?
Obviously you can't
Sound system for church
how much
Can I record in this without a pc?

Just to know how to operate
la misma interfaz que la x 32 :)
No conocía esta, solo la x32 y tengo un evento mañana y me viene perfecto!
Damn i had to watch this twice just to process everything.
Hello sir,
I am interest in being a sound engineer how can you help me.
Thanks.
price
we just has this counsel professionally installed and set up our worship group and sermons. we have all the amplifiers and servers....I was impressed with the sound quality compared to the analog AH 3300GL board... dialing in the elec drum kit...vocals, electric and acoustical guitars (Bass) ...They look completely intimidating until you realize its the same as a 42 CH, analog....only layerd with 100s of features to most of all; have a pro set up...saved on board and to a thumb drive.....if you mess something up and can't find your way out.....O.S. or Easy button.
this weekend will be first live action..nervous...heck yes... but, all I have to do is turn on and press the "button"....touch record on the dash...press record. that easy
my suggestion...if you're looking to upgrade to the 21st century, for your church, or other...get professional quotes references then decide. only don't buy this on your own, or consult sweetwater...the have serious SERIOUS attitude issues
tim brokov out here.
Neden Türkçe kullanım videolarıni bulamıyoruz ????
Let's face it, this is just an over-priced Behringer X32 with a re-hashed design to rip off all those people who still hold a 20 year old prejudice against being seen with a Behringer product! :)
How would compare this to a Allen &Heath Q32? Anyone!
this is a way more expensive console, i think the qu32 is fine but i would prefer this one.
Studiolive 32 III is far better in many sense.
Interesting !
I like it
Did they steal this from softube console 1?
Why is the screen monitor so small. It is smaller than a computer screen. The advantage of a console is to work with physical button and avoid the difficulties of controlling on a software. But if the screen is smaller than a computer screen there are almost no advantges.
❤❤
Is it really a "review" if you sell them? Its more like a commercial.
Our 'sister' company, ie Behringer
What about the DAW control ?
Wtf?
Hi, @dbltrplx! You can use the M32 as an interface (It can DAW control, but it's only 8 channels max). If you're looking for a control surface, I'd recommend something closer to the Behringer X-Touch Universal Control Surface:

Its an x32 in a different box and more money
+Roy Johnson exactly. we have the x32 in our club and i used the m32 before. sounds the same and it is doing the same stuff...
Use with their digital stage box and things get worse. Their patching architecture is a navigational nightmare.
This is a professional console..
I have that one too, but then with a Behringer logo and 50% less expensive....
Are you guys really kidding me ..????? What a fake !!!!
In the Midas-Version are better PreAmps, Fader, the ergonomic is better. The quality of the Midas-Console is much better!
Louis v W 50% less expensive, with worse-sounding preamps and shitty build quality.
***** Yup. That's exactly what i mean :D
+Louis v W Totally agree what a rip off! Get the x32 it's £2000 cheaper.
No it' isn't! By the X32 the preamps are based on Midas, but they are no Midas preamps. They just based on. The M32 are Midas pro preamps. The faders from M32 are Midas faders, the X32 are crappy Beringer faders. The effect processor from the X32 is based on Lexicon, on the M32 i's ra real Lexicon.
y u no android
It does support android. Use Mixing Station M32/X32 app for android
Seems like this console is a ghost.
This video is NOT a review. Labelling it as such is misleading.
No clue😶
Same lol
Tolles Gerät uns super leicht zu Bedienen, für mich ist das Gerät einfach zu schwach zu wenig Möglichkeiten für Profi Einsatz.
Teach me teach
He really made an effort to make what he was saying sound complicated HA HA HA.
Studio Live 32 III by a mile!
I want one.
Bunun türkçesini anlatabilen yokmu
midas sweet like honey
Oh! God🙇 you are too fast. Am just getting used to this console
This looks like knockoff of the Yamaha
Ls9?
Tf5
musikman337 TF
Letter Base Yeah tf 5
@Cio DoKop Really?! Well, then you gotta hate Yamaha for doing a knock off from the M32 then, which was on the market BEFORE the TF5.
Give it 5 years, these things will be collecting dust at Value Village
Keep dreaming !!! Hahahahhaahahahha
Is this a joke???? April fools? Wait it's not April!!!
why?
An Apriljoke? Why? It's a grandios Console for Live-PA and Studio. Where is the joke?
Not a review. It's a sales head doing a rundown of the thing. No tech head definitely. Otherwise he would have picked up on the expandability through AES50 and the Dante card.
x32 lol
This mixer has the worst work flow and ui, period.
blah blah blah just play the thing
