Can confirm. Amazing quality at this price point. Pretty light, good quality plastics nothing brittle, canister and filters can all be disassembled by hand. Not sure what the reviewer is going on about it not being a sealed system. It appears he is applying positive pressure to the inside of the vacuum? If so well no shit its gonna leak because its not designed to work like that, so gis conclusions are wrong. When it is operating normally, everything inside is under negative pressure, so the whole test he is conducting is invalid. The weird double vortex seems to work quite well at capturing dust as fine as baking powder on the inside vortex.
Got it for my one bedroom apartment and it’s amazing, even on my bedroom’s thick carpet. I was amazed how much dust and lint it picked up after a quick pass.
It’s great! Ppl want it to pick up food like a vacuum is to pick up lint dust etc. ppl want it to do all the work u got to clean and stop being dirty!! I loved it for my bedroom too!!
Ive Had This Vaccum For About 5 Years! Works Awesome To This Day. Cleaned It About Every 3-6 Months To Keep The Efficency Up. Highly Reccomended, Even For Hardwood Floor.
I love this vacuum . I have had it 3+ years and it’s still going strong. Started kicking out dust which was MY fault in only today deciding to take apart and clean the filter. Which was super easy so shame on me. meaning even with neglecting this vacuum for three years it still was working. EVERY single time I vacuum I let out an audible “wow” when I see how much it picked up. (I have three dogs) So this is a great deal for first apartment, college, even long term bigger homes if you are on a budget. One day I’ll sink the money into one of those $300+ vacuums...maybe. And even if it dies tomorrow I will have felt I got it’s worth out of it.
vidchic18 yes you have to take apart to clean your filter regularly. I was just really lazy with it. But it’s a simple fix and no fault of the vacuum. It just has no where to go with the dust it sucks up if your filter is occluded.
2:52 I realize this is 2 years old but you seem helpful so I’ll ask you and hopefully you or someone will know the answer. How do I make the handheld hose suck the air out of a bag that’s made for that? Thanks.
I just purchased one of these 2 days ago and it is the BEST vacuum I've ever owned. I have, over the years, owned Hoovers, Eurekas, Electrolux, Bissels and 2 very expensive Kirbys. I paid $54 for this one and it is, by far, better than all the rest combined ~ even comparing it other Bissells. When using it for the first time, I didn't know whether to be excited or ashamed at the amount of dirt and hair it picked up. Trying it on a small area of carpet ( 6' x 6' ) I filled up the container. If it continues to work this well I will be one happy camper.
I have had my Bissel Powerforce Helix for since January of 2018 (when I moved into my apartment). I have carpet everywhere except for my kitchen and two bathrooms (Two bedroom apartment). I can say, without a doubt, this vacuum is pretty decent for the price. Some people might get a bad unit and it losses suction fast, but mine has been going strong since 2018. I use mine at least once a week when I do my weekly cleaning. Most weeks, I use it twice just to keep up on the carpets. Not bad for the price. You're mileage may vary.
Mine throws out a ton of dust on startup, very annoying. Otherwise, it's been good for my little apartment, and has lasted me for over four years now. Thanks for your video!
My husband just bought me this vacuum cleaner recently and I wished we had watched this video sooner. It's terrible! At first, I thought it was going to be great to vacuum but it just recycles the dust back out on the carpet and floor. We bought it at Walmart, my husband liked the price, so he bought it. We usually research the product before buying. But this time we didn't. Either I clean the whole thing out and return it or find a way to keep the dust in the machine. Thank you for this video.
Had an earlier model that just went out. I’ve had it for 11 years. Not bad for the price, and easy to clean the filters. Hoping this one will last just as long, or longer.
It's been 8 months since your comment and I wanted to ask.. Is it still lasting you? I'm considering getting one but if it doesn't even last 8 months then there's no point in getting it.
I have a Bissell Powerforce Compact that initially was used when I lived at home with my mom, then my sibling and I roomed together for five years, and now he has moved out of state and I still have it. I don't hate it's cleaning abilities, but the container for the dirt has a broken latch, meaning if I don't remember to pick it up from the bottom/mouth of the contsiner, everything I've vaccumed will just barf back onto the floor. Because I also inherited this vacuum late, putting its pieces back together after emptying it has always been a struggle without having experienced them new. I always end up pulling a chair next to the trash can to work on cleaning it out and fitting it back together and I get a lot of dirt and dust on the trash can. Because Bissell unfortunately doesn't just offer a replacement cannister I can just buy, I've now bought the vacuum you reviewed here. Except for my bathrooms and kitchen, all floors in my apartment are carpet, with a rather thick rug under the couch. Seems this vacuum will be great for my needs. I had bought a cheap Bissell Turbo 3-in1 vac last night, but once I was home and could read reviews, I saw that stick vac wasn't going to cut it with lots of carpet and was best for simple hardwood jobs. I've not tried it yet, I'll be using it tomorrow, but I think I'm going to enjoy my Powerforce Helix.
How is it compared to your original powerforce 2112 compact? They are both about the same price. Is this one worth the extra 10 bucks or are they the same?
I use a broom and a swiffer sweeper. My vacuum sits in the closet most of the time anymore since I've got rid of all my carpets and went with hardwood floors throughout. My home dusting has been greatly reduced by getting rid of the carpet.
For the money, this is an excellent vacuum cleaner! ---The suction hose is tangential (without any 90 degree bends) to the dust container, a good design which prevents it from clogging, and makes it SUPER easy to take apart if you do manage to clog it. (I picked up pecan shells and scattered string, which did actually manage to clog my machine. I was using it in the shop, because it's the only vacuum I have that can remove metal shavings from the concrete.) ---The upper filter is also easier to deal with. My old vacuums were a Bissel big green clean machine, and a Hoover Wind tunnel. Never have such big vacuums made such weak suction.

I have one that's about 10-12 years old. SOOO much better quality than the current model. Mine is a nice study model, with actual rubber hoses, not like the cheap plastic ones they use now.
i hate kirbys..they work fine ..but are heavy, clumbsy and who ever uses all the extras ??? and the prices are too damn high..enough for a down payment on a used car...
@@stonemagic540 They are not much heavier than any other high-end or mid-range unit on the market. I have owned about every one in existence. Plus, they are self-propelled, so you do not notice any weight at all during use. You do not have to purchase all the extra attachments, though the hose kit is nice to have and I do use them. I am not saying that I agree with any of the sales tactics or whatever, but the unit itself is excellent.
Weird because I have this vacuum for my townhouse and it works excellent picks up everything from my hardwood floor downstairs the turbo brush is great for my stairs the height adjustment works and it picks up tons of hair/dust out of the carpets. About it not being totally sealed you can easily fix that problem with attaching your own custom rubber gasket, gives it even more suction as well!
Even though I only have hard floors in my home, I actually own the bagged variant of this vacuum known as the Powerforce Bagged 1739, and I also have the older Powerforce Bagged 71Y7-V. I use both of them all the time, they still scatter debris from behind, but I don't mind that at all as long as the end results is a clean home, I use the Clean Fairy Fabric Filter bags in the 71y7-V and it does a good job keeping the air nice and clean, as well as the inside of the machine, which usually gets dirty from the normal paper bags. One big complaint about the 1739 is definitely the motor exhaust vent placement, which is notorious for blowing everything away from the front of the machine, and that was never an issue on the 71y7-V. Also, I don't care about what bags I am using in the 1739, so I am using the Febreeze bags, and yes, the inside of the machine isn't the cleanest.
💕 But there were so many good reviews. I was all set to get one. I need a lightweight. I'm so tired of lugging mine around and bumping around on furniture, etc. Sigh... 😌 🙋🏻♀️
I want to see a review of the Walmart exclusive 1739 PowerForce Bagged, it costs $56, making it the cheapest bagged vacuum on the market, and HEPA bags can make it leak less
i got a bissle power force vacume about 5 years ago.. and i vacume pet hair dirt dirt pethair all the time and this thing is now worn out..but i am buying a new one..it kicked ass for 5 years....
I bought this because I'm strapped for money and can't afford to get a $200 vacuum. For a $69 vaacum it's good .Bagless, automatic power cord return and tool attachments are easy to use
All these people commenting their entire experience/story with this vacuum ranting and raving about how amazing it is, you’ll see how amazing it really is when your lungs are covered in dust because you swore it was the best vacuum ever but you ignored the fact that filtration is actually an important factor
Yeah ours definitely has amazing suction and the carpet looks like it has been professionally cleaned. But the tradeoff is that every time we use it the house reeks of dust and we have to wipe down all the glass tabletops. The hose is practically useless because if you take it out to do the trim, the hole where the hose was attached spews out a massive dust cloud. It's also really inconvenient because of how chunky the head is, you can't get it under the edges of low furniture. You need a second vaccum cleaner for the nooks and crannies.
I liked most every feature🌼 They are definitely better than another brand I had purchased before. It's very sturdy and picks up with the one pass feature very well.
I recently trash picked this very model (model 1700). I just gave it its post trash pick “maiden vacuum” today. I will be making a video on it fairly soon.
I had the Turbo model as my first vacuum when I moved out. It served me well for over 2 years, although it loved to eat through belts. I ended up wanting something more versatile and more reliable so I ended up restoring a Kirby Ultimate G as selling my Helix Turbo. But for the 60 or so bucks I paid for it, it served its purpose and i certainly felt like I got my use out of it.
I've heard good things about Kirby vacuums, but their business model being that of an MLM makes it so I would never support them. Honestly, it sounds like with the favorable reviews of the devices, they really ought to just do away with that, but recruiting new victims into the pyramid is lucrative, so that won't be happening anytime soon.
The vacuum honestly would be just fine for most people, the turbo model with the good hose that is. I would take this over a shark any day, though the older Powerforce bagless models were miles better, and they were built really well too.
I have had mine for 7 years now and it's just starting to not vacuum as well!! I clean it well once a month and the beater bar too! My apt is a small 1 bedroom with no kids or pets! It has served it purpose for me and I give it 10 stars!! LOL
Hi vacuum wars I'm now fixing my powerforce helix I took it all apart and when I get home from school ill put it back together and it will be ready to go
I got mine as a gift so I really can't complain; but it doesn't really help with one of my peskier problems: my two cats scattering dry cat food on the carpet. It doesn't pick the cat food up very well, and often leaves as much cat food behind as it picks up.
Yes, the base just has terrible picking up power. My dirt cup is completely empty, but the vacuum is covered in dust. I want to return it, and buy something else. Unfortunately it kicked up so much dust though that it's literally covered in it. I'll clean it, but I'm not sure they'll even except it. Wow, did I make a mistake.
They should've written "high carpet/hose tool" on the settings swatch, because I had my vacuum set fairly low from the area I previously vacuumed and didn't think to change it yet. Turned it on and since the hose detachment is an open area, all the dust shot back out (I guess similar issue as the bare floor dust blowing?) That was irritating. When set to the highest carpet setting however, despite the hole, the dust does not shoot out there then.
Thank you so much. I only have hard wood floor with no carpets, so I decided not to purchase it. Any advise for a cheap good vacuum for hardwood floor and couch/sofa!!
I have 2 Bissells: 1...a 12B1 Powerforce Helix. On this one, I put Gorilla Tape on the upper clear plastic (above the dirt cup) at the point where it meets the dark plastic to eliminate or at least reduce dust blowout. I also wear a mask when vacuuming. I don’t have asthma but I do have allergies. Do the tape and a mask help with eliminating blowout? Or am I kidding myself? I also have: 2...an 82H1 Cleanview Helix. But I can’t figure out how to fix the height adjuster on it. Have you made a video on how to fix that? I think you made a good video here.Thanks.
That's because the guy in the video let it fill up and forgot to empty the dirt This video was posted 6 years ago Everything has been updated by now so you might want to do a new review and video of the new Bissell
These vacuums are horrible. The cyclones are a big failure where a lot of the fine dust goes into the filter. I use a mop when I vacuum hard wood floors with this unit. (I have the 1797). I mop the floors in sections and then when I’m done and have the pile, I put the mop behind the vacuum and vacuum the pile. So what gets thrown out the back, it will get sucked back in on the next backward pass.
Dude, take a mop and push all of the stuff up against the wall, then go in with the fine crevice attachment and pick it all up in one swoop. Then clean the edges of the mop while you're at it.
My helix powerforce vacuum stopped working. It doesn't pick anything up, I took it apart and the belt was fine. I cleaned out the brush and it's still not picking up. I've had it for about 5, 6 years though.
The Helix Turbo Rewind is somewhat better, the plastic will get sand blasted and lose its see throughness. Within owning it less than a year, I have had to replace the brush roll.
strykerzr350 this is the one my parents own and they vacuum almost daily they’ve had to replace the roller belt already once but they have owned it for a while like 3 years (but they have a woven carpet floor that is virtually no carpet height) and they’re still using it but also the rewind function broke so they just wrap the cord around now like a normal one
TheBurnout that’s how it is I have the same one and no way to fix it, I just empty the contents outdoors into a bag then throw it out with a mask on or holding my breath
This vacuum works great on my thick carpet and picks up great but does kick up a lot of dust . Not good on hardwood floors . I have bought two in the last year bc it will not turn on . Problems with the turn on switch .
@@EliteStricker I figured out why the motor was loud I accidentally got a wet cleaning it out evidently so I put it in front of a heater at a distance and not too close obviously but it dried it out and it's nice and quiet now again. I thought it was going to be permanently that loud it sounded like a damn fire alarm and a firehouse
@@jimmysavage4198 Oh okay That great its fixed. I have the turbo model, never had one issue. You just have to clean out the roller section and filters.
@@EliteStricker yeah I usually do like I said I got to use and the last person abuse the hell out of it and it didn't clean a damn thing the hoses the hole behind the brush everything was clogged as hell. So now I have this one I have the miniature version of this one I got a shark Old School eureka and many more too much going on in this room.
My grandma currently has this HORRIBLE vacuum cleaner!!! The suction is lousy. Please tell me that you have recommendations on the best ones on the market. I am willing to pay $100 or more on the best machine.
I like it I’ve had one for 3 years until my kids broke it. I bought a new one today and I came to use it and the brush just worked for a few minutes and it’s not working now😱... now that Walmart close early I don’t know what to do and if they will be able to return it😢
@@jaychung1380 ...maybe yours won't have the same defect, hopefully. I exchanged the model I returned for the Bissell Powerforce Helix Turbo Rewind. Cost an extra twenty five bucks, but so far no belt problem. And this sucker vacuums carpet like a champ. 👍
I just bought one of these. I'm returning it. The height adjustment doesn't come into physical contact with the bottom of the vacuum to change the height. There is a half inch of clearance between the two parts. It's impossible for this feature to work. Nothing is broken or missing, it's just garbage.
@@biotikmedia Then why was it when I changed the height adjustment knob and tilted the vacuum with the foot switch it never changed the height? I fucked with the thing for an hour before returning it. Did not work.
Can you explain your leak test please? It looks like you are doing a positive pressure test. That would be irrelevant for when it's operating (in terms of dust escaping), and it's not clear how much dust would fall out while this vacuum is not in use.
I have another video explaining it. Basically all the vacs that are supposed to pass this test (sealed system hepa vacs) pass it and all that are supposed to fail (either not sealed and no hepa) fail. The particles are at 5 microns. Hepa filters are .3 in the US
The difference is noticeable. Our recreation centre went through three bissell powertraks in three years. All of which spit dust out many times just from powering on. You can smell the dust in the air from cleaning area rugs not good for breathing for sure. Then we got a shark nv800 and now we don't smell the dust or see it spitting out of the vacuum like previous ones.
What was to be the successor of the Bissell heavy duty 50C9, 93Z6 and its variants? I swore that was the meanest vacuum cleaner. Only reason I need a new one is the the plastic cover that holds the roller assembly started to crack rendering the vac useless. Not bad for a 15 year old vac.. The newer ones appears less than heavy duty. Any comments / suggestions would be appreciated..
FYI - I was able to track down a used Bissell Healthy Home which had the same specs as my old vac. I dissembled it and ran every possible part through the dishwasher, reassembled it. It appeared and worked like a brand new one. Bissell should bring this series back!
Highly recommend this vacuum if anyone is on a budget, it is worth it trust me

Also, I don't care about what bags I am using in the 1739, so I am using the Febreeze bags, and yes, the inside of the machine isn't the cleanest.
I bought this yesterday to put it as adding a new vacuum cleaner to my collection
Thank you for your straightforward review. It was helpful while I was making a decision.
Thanks, Glad it helped!
what did you decide?
They recently upgraded this to have a larger brushroll window, a tinted bin, and a squeegee for hard floors.

Yeah, but how much did you spend for all those belts?
I've heard good things about Kirby vacuums, but their business model being that of an MLM makes it so I would never support them. Honestly, it sounds like with the favorable reviews of the devices, they really ought to just do away with that, but recruiting new victims into the pyramid is lucrative, so that won't be happening anytime soon.
He should review the powerforce bagged 1739, if you add hepa bags, it can be a good budget vacuum with good filtration
I just got mine yesterday I love those vacuum
YES WORKS WELL
I've had mine for about 3 years. I just clean the filter every now and then. Works great. Love it. Oh, I'm in a 1 bedroom apartment.
Had my bissell powerforce helix for many years and it has only recently had a cord rip. Tho it does smell funny, probably due to it kicking up dust.
That smell is a bad sign - you are breathing that in. I hope you can replace it soon .
The vacuum honestly would be just fine for most people, the turbo model with the good hose that is. I would take this over a shark any day, though the older Powerforce bagless models were miles better, and they were built really well too.
can you do a review of the bissell powerforce helix rewind turbo or pet hair eraser series
Just do your own review and keep it to your bubble. We don’t care Lol
Do a review on the Bissell power force bagged
I have had mine for 7 years now and it's just starting to not vacuum as well!! I clean it well once a month and the beater bar too! My apt is a small 1 bedroom with no kids or pets! It has served it purpose for me and I give it 10 stars!! LOL
It’s not a bad vacuum.
Solid "It's OK/10"
Hi vacuum wars I'm now fixing my powerforce helix I took it all apart and when I get home from school ill put it back together and it will be ready to go
I got mine as a gift so I really can't complain; but it doesn't really help with one of my peskier problems: my two cats scattering dry cat food on the carpet. It doesn't pick the cat food up very well, and often leaves as much cat food behind as it picks up.
If you have hard floors Im not surprised. These are just not good with hard floors.
No , it's carpet. But I finally figured out how to use the hose part, which works better than the regular vac part in getting up the dry cat food.
Take a look at the budget picks here: ua-cam.com/video/pcnfIOCJEI8/v-deo.html
I reviewed this on my channel. I liked it. Some people can't afford an expensive one
bissell released a better version (3313) and now it can be used on hard floors because they added a squeegee.
Its worse
@@JacksVacuums no it’s not
@Strabmilky ya the newer ones are shit
@@JacksVacuums why are you swearing? Your only like 8 years old
Spoiler 📢
Just bought this vacuum for $54.
I'm in SHOCK!
THIS VACUUM IS AWESOME!!!
I love mine!! Worth it!!! especially if you have a large family and carpet
I have 2 Bissells:
1...a 12B1 Powerforce Helix.
I also have:
2...an 82H1 Cleanview Helix. But I can’t figure out how to fix the height adjuster on it. Have you made a video on how to fix that? I think you made a good video here.Thanks.
Thanks for doing this video I was thinking of getting this to clean up really dirty carpets
It fairly good with carpets, though the cheap bagged hoovers are better, more power, stronger brushes.
Vacuum Wars thanks
As the video specifies..it is bad for those of Allergies, hence, I Won't be buying this one.
I have that same one and I like it a lot and I keep it on the middle sending and it has not skader a single thing I have picked up
This vacuum doesn’t have a great seal, BUT it is mad powerful for the price!
Shoot for 55$ this thing is Very much worth the money.
That's because the guy in the video let it fill up and forgot to empty the dirt This video was posted 6 years ago Everything has been updated by now so you might want to do a new review and video of the new Bissell
If you take care of it and clean it normal I've seen some that last up to 10 years
Your title is click bait. I was coming to defend it. It’s awesome ! The hose and tools are great. I’ve had a Dyson and a Shark and this is better.
Guns Cars and Digits huh??? What are you saying?
My helix powerforce vacuum stopped working. It doesn't pick anything up, I took it apart and the belt was fine. I cleaned out the brush and it's still not picking up. I've had it for about 5, 6 years though.
The Helix Turbo Rewind is somewhat better, the plastic will get sand blasted and lose its see throughness. Within owning it less than a year, I have had to replace the brush roll.
Yeah the Rewind is a bit better, still not exactly a great vacuum, but better.
strykerzr350 this is the one my parents own and they vacuum almost daily they’ve had to replace the roller belt already once but they have owned it for a while like 3 years (but they have a woven carpet floor that is virtually no carpet height) and they’re still using it but also the rewind function broke so they just wrap the cord around now like a normal one
I have hard floor with a similar Bissell model. The brush is causing problems. Returning it.
Any way to seal up that bottom dump lid any better? Mine lets a puff of dust off each time you start it.
Problems with the turn on switch .
best vacuum ive seen
$48 at Walmart . Pretty good machine for the money
I got one used off marketplace it seems to work really good I just can't figure out why the motor is so damn loud
Damn that's weird
Was it like this
LOUD NOISES!!!!!!
@@jimmysavage4198 Oh okay
That great its fixed.
@@jimmysavage4198 oh okay
Dang that's crazy
Nice
My grandma currently has this HORRIBLE vacuum cleaner!!! The suction is lousy.
Please tell me that you have recommendations on the best ones on the market. I am willing to pay $100 or more on the best machine.
I like it I’ve had one for 3 years until my kids broke it. I bought a new one today and I came to use it and the brush just worked for a few minutes and it’s not working now😱... now that Walmart close early I don’t know what to do and if they will be able to return it😢
This is not the place to complain if you got a defective piece.. just go and return it!
raknoknak why the hostility
Ebay right now manufacture refurbished 34.95 free shipping no tax. Yes or no
Just bought one brand new at Walmart. After a couple of uses, the belt keeps popping off. Super frustrating. So I'm taking it back.
that bad? I just bought this lol
I bought this vacuum last year at walmart and stopped sucking after a few months. I cleaned it all and still was not working efficiently. Hated it.
That is frustrating. Sorry to hear that.
Bissell should make a newer model of the issell powerforce bagless what do you think
I have a Golden Retriever, so I spend a bit more money to filter out the pet dander.
For a cheaply it's worked good for me for 5 yrs . But now the beater bar stopped turning. So guess its upgrade time
You have a bissell powerforce helix I have a bissell powerforce bagged a bissell powerforce compact and a bissell powerswift compact
Do you have the bissell power force form 2010
I just bought one of these. I'm returning it. The height adjustment doesn't come into physical contact with the bottom of the vacuum to change the height. There is a half inch of clearance between the two parts. It's impossible for this feature to work. Nothing is broken or missing, it's just garbage.
Lol it only works once you've tilted the vacuum eith the foot switch. If its upright all it does is spin. You had one job.
Got mine 3 months ago and it loss sucking and it leaves all
The debris in the hose it won’t put it where it supposed to
another problem is that when you pull the hose off, it flings debris up into the air from the open end of where the hose attaches
I've had mine for about a year - and it has scratched my hardwoods up really badly.
Where did you get this Bissell powerforce helix from
Just bought one and it is fun to use. I like the turbo brush the most. Get you one !
I have tile floors. Looking to get this mainly for pet fur, is is worth it?
I love it. No issues
Will there be a part 3 for hepa filtration tests?
Maybe, people seem to love it or hate it. I probably will.
One of the best vacuums I’ve ever owned. We have pets and gets used a lot. Very lightweight
If you don't want hardwood floors kicking around, get the screwdriver out pop the belt off and close it up.
