In January 2024, Springfield City Utilities will receive a consultant's study of city bus service. CU now says it is legally prohibited from providing free bus service. The Springfield Daily Citizen's Reporter Steve Pokin and Visual Journalist Shannon Cay followed the journey of one woman who regularly uses this mode of transit to better understand this version of public transportation.

When the Hershends still had Ride The Ducks they gave away free Quackers on a string and the passengers would on top of blowing the things the whole time they were rideing the things thru Branson , would then wear em for the rest of the day to be asked by other tourist about em . I have NO IDEA OR Suggestions what in the world City Utilities could give away as a marketing gimmick that could possibly have the same effect . Springfield Mo. ? A bus ride in Springfield Mo. ? Try to market that in that manner ? A souvineer to get people talking ? This town doesn't even have it's name on post cards and T-shirts . How do you hang cashew chicken on a string and have it make noise ? How about a souvineer bus pass squeeky toy ? I didn't think so either .
