Hard to compete with the cell phones my friend. It's the same at weddings with the younger crew. They will dance for about 3 songs, take selfies of themselves then sit back down to post and tiktok. Here I am also competing with outside events, just keep your head up and push forward.

Do some research on what the kids around you are listening to ... also, i know you say you guys dont use controllers, but the versatility of mixing live will help keep kids on the dance floor.. Spotify is good but does not offer DJ ready music. Im sure if you are able to obtain some crazy mixes or edits of some of the pop songs and country songs kids listen to can help keep em dancing. My personal opinion too many lights.. less is more sometimes. Good job though. You are a true one for allowing us to watch what you do

I agree. While they help out a lot, lights don't make people dance. Music does. Most DJ's anywhere use a controller or if they don't, they mix using Serato or Virtual DJ on their laptop. The big thing is mixing and transitioning the song so nobody is dancing to the same song for 5 minutes. As far as I know, you transition and beat match in the middle of songs on Spotify. Kids can be distracted from the floor or like doing Tik-Tok stuff, but they get on the floor and dance. Just got to hit them with the right songs and keep it interesting. It could be the kids there are just not into dancing maybe and just want to socialize.

Get on the microphone and announce we have some line dances coming up in 5mins. Everybody get your friends and get ready! How about the best dancer wins a prize or voucher. Get some bass in that place man, im sure those 10" Jbls arent exactly rocking the roof add one subwoofer or something. Your good at your job its probably just some fine tuning and everything will fall in place. Good luck Oh btw theres not much too learn witj the controller even just pressing play and a slight small crossover to the next song would be 10x better than spotify.

So I don't do the prizes or vouchers. Or anything like that, that is the church. That does all that so I'm not in control of that if they want to do the best dancer contest. That's up to them. I am just tired to play music and bring in Lights. This isn't a very high paying gig. Also, so that's another reason why I'm not bringing in a whole lot. And I was asked not to bring any subwoofers. That room is not really good for sound. It sounds great with the JBL tens. It echoes a lot of narrative due to the way the building is built. And for the little amount of money I made off this Because a lot of people around here don't want to pay good money. They think a $150 is a lot of money, and when you throw a 3 to 500 dollar, uh, offer to them, they're like, oh, that's way too much money.
