    My most armored tank can take Artillery shells, but its 20m long

      I kept mine for about 7.5m of length. Although it can only survive against battle cannon shells or lower calibers than that (except the xml'd MG)

      i havent tested mine yet on any arty shells, maybe the hull can take the weakest arty round (not sure)

      Yea, the secret to armour in stormworks is to make custom ERA plating, I have a 6m wide tank with tiny ERA plating that can take artillery HE rounds.

    This is I think the only tank in stormworks that I seen that can take care of AP (I haven't seen many tanks)

      tbh, i dont know the exact reason how it works, but I do have an idea why it behaves like this. First is the multiple subgrid layers of weight blocks and normal blocks, I think it messes up the game's physics or bugging it. Second is how thick the layer is, its about 5 blocks thick in the front turret (including the subgrid armors), and the hull is thicker... There's also welders that all points out to critical components like pivots and seat, making it very hard to immobilize, unless you hit near the engine, or other weakspots, or kill the player from explosion damage.

    Just curious, what are vital parts that cannot be destroyed?
    -On tank treads, if the wheels get damaged but not the wheel that's powered by an engine, will it be able to drive?
    -If you have a battle cannon and the barrel gets damaged but not the breech piece (the main part), will you still be able to shoot?
    I hope what i said makes sense

      @@theofficiaIsteve well.., in Stormworks if the battle cannon gets damaged (anywhere on the battle cannon piece) you wont be able to shoot, unless only the barrel gets damaged instead (the barrel im referring to is the barrel piece you add to increase barrel length)
      Next is the tank wheels; I havent really tried/experienced the sprocket being damaged, bc most of the time, engines will be hit first before or along with the wheel. But I believe even if its damaged it should still rotate since it only transfers power (im not sure, but its like a pipe, where even if it is damaged it can still do its job)

    Hey mate, i am curious about how you do your stabilizer. Could you show me how?

      I did my stabilizer MC a few months ago, and I cant remember much about it atm, BUT for the vertical stabilization, I just used a tilt sensor (connected to the turret body, not the gun), and added the value from that sensor to the pitch input, and I added a clamp before connecting it to the output node. I just adjust the values (making them negative or positive, if its acting the opposite way).
      Then for the horizontal stabilization, I just use angular sensor (connected to the hull body near the yaw pivot point), and used that value and put it into the PID's process variable and with a setpoint of 0 (then for the values in the pid, i just calibrated them to what will make the output stabilization more "stable"). Then the PID's output, i just added it to the yaw input (i use an up/down counter for yaw controls) .
      That's just pretty much the main idea i had and i was able to make an " Okay" stabilizer MC. I also watched some tutorials online and used other concepts from there.

      I also use switchboxes to toggle the "stabilizer" on/off.

    Nice Armor! It seems to work great! I've been struggling with armor myself and I would like to duplicate this but my tests of putting armored blocks on pivots close together aren't exactly working. I would love to know what I'm doing wrong.

      Tbh, i dont know what the exact reason why it works, but i have an idea in mind that it has something to do with the physics of the game. For example, if you put a subgrid in front of your vehicle and ram into smth, only the subgrid takes damage (sometimes), and i just used that concept and tried it against shells.
      What i did is just put layers of subgrid armors (pivot & weight blocks), at least 3 or maybe 4 layers as far as i remember, with one of them being the exterior layer connected to a pivot located somewhere farther than the area i was protecting.
      I also used mounted welders to quickly fix anything that would be damaged (in case the tank got hit on its weakspots).

      The layers of subgrid armors are supposed to be for AP, but surprisingly enough, it also managed to resist HE, maybe bc of the thickness of the front plates (the blocks)

      Thanks! I got it to work, though I think the AP is stopped by the shear amount of weight blocks and not the pivot set up. I could be wrong though, I haven't done the test. But It works great, stops all sorts of stuff and will definitely use it in my tanks!

    In stormworks its more about who shoots faster than who has more armor cause 1 shell is enough to knock out half of your systems

      True, that's why my new tanks don't use this armor concept. Just having the right profile, speed, advanced features, like ballistics, etc. makes them very effective

      @@fear_this the best thing you can have is an automatic lead tracking ,a laser rangefinder with automatic zeroing and a stabilizer

    Now the armour is amazing and all, but shooting a he shell on the top of the tank WILL take it out.

      @@The_WhiteHouse Yes, also even tho i made this armor thing, i still didnt apply it in my new tanks lol, i still sticked to mobility, range, and low-profile

      @@fear_this Yea, i understand, but with stormworks mechanics, the armour is always the second option, never wait for your opponent to shoot you because even with amazing armour your barrel, breach, battery etc could get taken out, like for example with my best tank so far, It can take artillery shells but the whole outside of it will get destroyed.

    How is it so fast? I have a 20 cylinder engine that has issues pushing my tank to above 13 m/s, and it’s smaller

      Ohh well the tank i used in this video uses a medium motor and i had my inf elec turned on, so that explains it. But in my other tanks i usually dont count how many cyclinders i put, just whatever fits inside lol.
      I use a set of multiple gears that has different ratios on them. My new MBTs has an average speed of ~60-70 kph depending on how big their engine is. I also use a microcontroller for those gears that has been heavily modified all throughout my entire stormworks hours (added a bunch of stuffs like for controlling the tank's steering, throttle limiters, some engine components, etc.)
      Edit: I used it along with ZE engine mc. So... overall the solution for that is gears and a microcontroller (or if you want, you can do manual gear change).

      I just used multiple subgrid layers (with weight blocks) and it somehow stops the shell damage to a safe point (point where no major components will be damaged)

      I forgot to add that I also used welders just in case the elevation pivots/cannon get destroyed
