I love how they consistently make the colors make sense, though. Life and death in the presence of one another equals sorrow. Or, when you're alive but feel dead, it's sorrow.
I've always liked the idea of the emotional spectrum lanterns. Lots of story potential, even if some of the execution could have been done better. It's interesting to think about there being "lesser" lanterns out there, but I hope they explain how they recharge and whatnot in a logical way.
6:58 Nathan's speech about shows he's been fighting an uphill battle his whole life and he's simply tired of "toughing it out". Carol leaving him at the alter was his breaking point and now there likely is no going back for him😢
I really like this, as when reading the issue it came as a complete and utter surprise. And being completely and utterly surprised by something I'm reading or watching is a great feeling. One dangling plotline though re Carol: Remember the end of Green Lantern New Guardians? She and Kyle were a couple by then. Which frankly I wasn't keen on because she felt a little bit too old for him, but that has gone the way of Jess's fear lantern arc. Perhaps when this current storyline is at it's end Hal and Carol can be in the middle of their wedding when Kyle suddenly snaps back to normality and remembers it all. Then gets to the church just in time for an 'I object!'. Which would be awkward. But fun.
I like the emotional spectrum concept so much. Honestly I wasn't a huge green lantern fan before it - I kind of thought he seemed lame, but now I really like the idea.

I made an Infrared Corps for my Secret Crisis series. Complete with Lantern Oath. Sadness, Angst, and Self Loathing were the emotions in that spectrum.

Grey looks good on you. I have a feeling that the Grey Lantern is goin to lead to resurgence of the Black Lantern Corp that may segregate the different corps into the light and the dark.
I really enjoy the emotional spectrum and how the powers interact with eachother in relation to realworld emotions, color theory, and the visible light spectrum. It presents something for everyone to resonate with. While i do feel sadness/sorrow was an emotion that was missing for the longest time, i think further expanding it isnt the best idea. Especially after the whole "ultra violet Corp" thing. But the color being grey can maybe make it work in the mythos, if handled well.
I think it can work but I think much like with orange I think it would be cool if he is the only one and that it passes on to the nearest individual with the most sadness .
My brother is a huge green lantern fan his going to be so excited to watch this videos I always look forward to watching your videos there very informative and your so knowledgeable about DC comics is Spectacular keep up the entertaining content
I'd argue that emotional spectrum is just as much of reactions than basic emotions. Will power isn't much of an emotion to begin with as it is an reaction to something which how Fear can affect so badly as it is a reaction to something. An emotional reaction is just as important as emotions themselves. As Rage and Fear are just as much reactions as they are emotions.
I’ll be honest, there’s a lot to discuss topic wise, but I kind of just want to see you do a video or playlist on the emotional spectrum just to see the wigs and make up you’d use. The wig was an excellent choice 👍🏾
I feel like the only issue I have with it is... Really? THAT'S what it took to be sad enough to MANIFEST COSMIC POWERS!? Like yeah, getting ditched at the altar for your partner's ex is sad but it's also common enough that there should reasonably be a whole core of Sad Lanterns by now, even if the core-battery-whatevers are on the fritz right now you expect me to believe there isn't a single living thing on earth that's been this sad or sadder since this has started? No nameless child in a third world country who lost their family to disease/hunger/conflic? No teenager/young adult thrown out by their parents and made homeless because they couldn't hold down a job? No ptsd riddled war vetran with mobility issues and a failing body who's watched all their friends and loved ones die around them and the world change into something he doesn't recognize? No runt animal in a factory farm that was rejected by it's mother and is in the process of being turned into simulate-meat nuggets? Dex showed us animals can become lanterns, hell there's a green lantern who's literally small pox! So you're saying at this moment there is no human, animal, bacterea or ANYTHING that is more sad then this guy?
I love the emotional spectrum and it's driven me insane how well received it was at large only to then seemingly try to do everything to get away from it, only to really go full circle (I'm looking at you Ultra violet lanterns) The fact there's only one single blue lantern just chilling in DC largely unused and touched on for example is mind boggling! Also the grey was a choice, the right choice! Looks fantastic!
I always thought if they did include Sadness as a lantern core it’d be Grief but Sorrow is good too. Also, my theory is Nathan would be the only member of that core (like Larfleeze) just so it intensifies his sorrow.
Will isn't an emotion, but that's not a problem. The middle of the spectrum is balance, and an absence of any overriding emotion. That's why the middle is dominated by will: because it's not skewed or dominated by anything else. It's like how, if you shine a red flashlight at something, it looks red. If you shine white light at that same thing, you see its own colors; its own properties are what dominate.
It's like we all forgot Hal became a supervillain and blamed a yellow bug........ Carol is sometime a super villain and blames it on some violet(but clearly pink.....like we all see they are pink right, the Indigo tribe is violet) rock. They are a super villian couple! Nathan is like the anti Paul. A genuine good guy whose name you forget before the end of the sentence.
I don't buy comics much anymore, but the Green Lantern comics have always had a one-step-up-from-Sesame-Street quality to it. They've celebrated the male-female dichotomy and ethnic stereotypes in cringe-worthy ways, and once presented the wisdom of the universe as knowing how to count from one to ten. Dividing the universe into 360 wedges was madness inspired by remembering one fact from geometry class. The emotional color spectrum, basically knowing your colors, fits right in. It's hokey and childish but it works because the basic appeal of Green Lantern is to take the most basic concepts and present them as cosmically as possible.
What Kind Of Lantern Are You?

I imagine the Grey Lantern power in action being like the passengers sitting next to Robert Hayes in "Airplane", listening to him reminisce
Right… I’ve never seen “Airplane.” What happens?

Warning: dark humor (I guess that's fair to say)

I love how they consistently make the colors make sense, though. Life and death in the presence of one another equals sorrow. Or, when you're alive but feel dead, it's sorrow.
Wow! Hal and Carol are real heels in this storyline.
I mean....they kinda always are jack@sses, so this was mostly to be expected
Headline: Horrible Toxic Couple Causes Own Problems, Once Again!!
I've always liked the idea of the emotional spectrum lanterns. Lots of story potential, even if some of the execution could have been done better.
It's interesting to think about there being "lesser" lanterns out there, but I hope they explain how they recharge and whatnot in a logical way.
The advert after the video. "Turn that frown upside down. Add some greenery to your scenery. " 😂

Nathan's speech about shows he's been fighting an uphill battle his whole life and he's simply tired of "toughing it out". Carol leaving him at the alter was his breaking point and now there likely is no going back for him😢
He took the Red Pill? 👀
I guess DC finally made their own version of Bipolar Bear.
You know this just makes me appreciate what happened to Hal with Kyle and Carol back in the day a lot more.
I like that the sadness logo is also a downward spiral *insert EmpLemon reference*
But fun.
Behold the first depresed entity in the universe! So say the ring of sadness
I like the emotional spectrum concept so much. Honestly I wasn't a huge green lantern fan before it - I kind of thought he seemed lame, but now I really like the idea.
Makes me think how we came this far without a Sadness lantern. Like the happyness lantern. Basic emotions?
im a massive green lantern fan, and being born in 2005 the emotional spectrum has always been a part of the lore for me. i am so happy we got a sorrow lantern, been on my dc wishlist ever since i could remember (as well as a happy lantern which we got in 2019 and has been getting some spoltlight by fans within the last year or so)
I made a Grey lantern Corp idea years ago and now I feel cheated out somehow, made a whole oath and everything…
What was the oath?
I made an Infrared Corps for my Secret Crisis series. Complete with Lantern Oath. Sadness, Angst, and Self Loathing were the emotions in that spectrum.
@@CasuallyComics - Grey Lantern corps oath
"A heart of sorrow drained of love,
Happiness banished by the feeling of sadness,
The pain of the love ones we've have lost,
And all shall be consume in our sorrow!"
@@DCMarvelMultiverse - Should have something for balance/unity, it’s what I did for Silver Lantern Idea I made with the Grey Lantern back in 2018… also do you have any oaths?
Love the idea of the sorrow lanterns, makes more sense than most of the others XD i do appreciate how the weird mourning robe also kinda looks like a wedding veil
In saddest day in bleakest night no feels shall escape my sight
Grey looks good on you.
I have a feeling that the Grey Lantern is goin to lead to resurgence of the Black Lantern Corp that may segregate the different corps into the light and the dark.
Looks at Nathan and Carol's failed relationship:
Why would Hal Jordan do this?
I really enjoy the emotional spectrum and how the powers interact with eachother in relation to realworld emotions, color theory, and the visible light spectrum. It presents something for everyone to resonate with. While i do feel sadness/sorrow was an emotion that was missing for the longest time, i think further expanding it isnt the best idea. Especially after the whole "ultra violet Corp" thing.
But the color being grey can maybe make it work in the mythos, if handled well.
The man is so sad his hair changed colour.
Also yeah, Nathan deserved better
Yes! Emo Lantern lives forever in our sad, broken hearts! 😭😭😭💔💔💔 (I want to call him "The Baxter Lantern" but I feel nobody will get that reference)
If Eeyore was offered a Grey Lantern ring. "After all, one can't complain."
I think it can work but I think much like with orange I think it would be cool if he is the only one and that it passes on to the nearest individual with the most sadness .
My brother is a huge green lantern fan his going to be so excited to watch this videos I always look forward to watching your videos there very informative and your so knowledgeable about DC comics is Spectacular keep up the entertaining content
he looks like the ghost of Christmas future
I actually feel bad for Hal - Nathan's not going to remember Hal for the planes he flew... 😢😢
I love the emotional spectrum and it's driven me insane how well received it was at large only to then seemingly try to do everything to get away from it, only to really go full circle (I'm looking at you Ultra violet lanterns)
The fact there's only one single blue lantern just chilling in DC largely unused and touched on for example is mind boggling!
Also the grey was a choice, the right choice! Looks fantastic!
Peter: hey there buddy...want a hug and cry it out
Nathan: that would actually be really nice yes.
Honestly just spending five minutes with Peter is the perfect cure for depression. No matter how bad things get, Pete always has it worse
I always thought if they did include Sadness as a lantern core it’d be Grief but Sorrow is good too.
Also, my theory is Nathan would be the only member of that core (like Larfleeze) just so it intensifies his sorrow.
This guy gonna become a fan favourite
I like that DC is adding to the Lantern spectrum, there are many other emotions that could make interesting evil lanterns.
Wow, this was great. Subscribed.
Honestly, girl, you kind of look fire in that gray.
Now it's truly time for Mortimer Gloom to have his day! The Wheeper shall rise again!
It makes a lot of sense to have a lantern for Sorrow. It is one of the strongest and most common emotions.
Carol "I can fix him" Ferris!
Your commentary is hilarious, keep up the excellent work!
Carrol is slowly trying to compete with Lois for weird engagements.
The gray lipstick looks really good with that wig and your other make... I would have never thought gray would that well
I don't buy comics much anymore, but the Green Lantern comics have always had a one-step-up-from-Sesame-Street quality to it.
I love you. Your quips never fail to make me chuckle.
Joke lantern (happiness joy and laughter) imagine if joker got or a guy who just got broken hearted or friend zoned 😂😂
"what's your lantern power?"
"depression"
I'll be damned. It's a plane that Hal Jordan flew.
That robe looks like a depressed person's comfort blakey
I usually never say this about characters in DC but I just want to give Nathan a hug.
