This man is unbelievable. He plays the most complex movements with such ease, he make you think that it is simple. He is awesome. He bring love to my heart.
What cute video editing at the beginning - cuing towards the sections during their parts. xD ^^ I think Kogan is actually the real star of the Russian school. Prefer him to Oistrakh. Love his stoic face - an expression that says his is the only and correct way to play the violin which you really can't argue with... He reminds me of my teacher. I remember him playing this.
+Dan Oistrach is another type of player He is a TOP violinist in his own way L. Kogan is absolutely NOT better than him ...actually except on Paganin pieces D . Ostrach is my absolute favourite ! LOVE his tune musicality etc .
Marie Opsahl when we talk about violinists in such level as kogan, oistrakh, heifetz, perlman, etc. Talking about who is better is pretty much pointless to me. They have their own colours on their playing. Just enjoy!
Bayu Dwiputra YES I Agree fully with you ........ and then depended on the different pieces ...on some you might (I do) prefer Heifetz to D. Ostrich :) etc.
"Jascha Heifetz is generally agreed to have been the best Violinist." is only applicable among Americans of the Heifetz generation; Oistrakh is the undisputed king for the rest of the world.
It is NOT synchronized "quite well", you can see it's way off in the beginning. Throughout it's variable tho, some parts are in sync. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that this is a dubbed video! If you record the video and audio tracks on separate devices, then they can go out of sync when you put them together, even if you made the recording at the same time. I am not sure about the "non-rosin bow" and all--even if this were a "fake performance", why would he not play properly if he were to over-dub it later anyway? If his bow had no sound, then what about the orchestra? Would the orchestra be silent also? As for the "cheap factory violin", I doubt it. The corners of the violin look the same from back and front, and the only reason the back violin seems darker is because it's on the shadow side. That's how lighting works. And if this was an overdubbed video, why would he use the real violin for the back view and the cheap violin for the front view? Your claims make remarkably little sense.
Why does it sound like he would play it halftone higher than it is actually written? And all the echo added at the beginning of the solo violin.... i hate when i see this in old recordings.
It appears that he cared more about chopping wood than bringing out the beauty of this piece. I much prefer Milstein who is a consummate musician with his grace and elegance.
There's something to be said for having perfect technique though, and musically, Kogan was no means a robot. He played near-perfectly, but quite organically, and I doubt many violinists have even dreamed to reach such a level. It is of great disrespect to one of the absolute greatest violinists of the 20th century to call their music "chopping wood". Unfortunately, this video was of terrible quality and the recording was quite sped up, but I'd bet my mother that if you had the opportunity to ever hear Kogan live you'd shred your words.

The best Violinist world has ever had. Unbelievable perfect mastery of difficult techniques...
Кроме прочего, он был невероятно скромным человеком
Лучшего исполнения этого произведения я не слышал! Я в восторге!❤
Melhor de todos , som incrível e agradável, viciei !

This man was equally as good as Heifetz. Inspirational style and austerity.
His interpretations are way way better
@@sowhat5399 it’s not a competition
@@jenthefwen that's his own opinion
People can argue about interpretation--I think Heifetz and Kogan have their own weaknesses. However, this is for sure--Kogan had a better bow-technic.
Full of joy and sadness, like life itself
Боже, какая же у него божественная игра😍😍😍
Легко, не заморачиваясь «глубокомысленностью»... Блин, по самому большому счёту Великий!!!!
oh my god,,,,very very good

Nowadays, the followers of Ray Chen do not know anything about Kogan, Oistrach… and how their playing was so much superior.
Son d'accordo

Oistrakh is king but Milstein is god
Absolutely not. He is generally considered the greatest by most schools of violin playing period.
Not sure why this comment is under a Kogan video but sure.
