Awesome tutorial! But my Bible is beyond that. I need it rebound as sections of pages came unglued from the binding. I'm thinking of getting a press and regluing the spine to see if I can save it.
My husband and I bought matching Bible covers in 1983, made the same way you showed us how to do in this video! Having ruined Bible spines by using the more "modern" carrier-type Bible covers, I have looked and looked to find the more practical leather covers that we bought when we were first married - - alas! They have quit making them. NO PROBLEM! God sent you and your husband to provide me all the information I needed to make Bible covers for my family and friends who have asked over the last almost forty years where they could obtain them. I am feeling VERY blessed right now, I can tell you!!! Thank you!
Oh my goodness, I love you sharing that! In fact, I have my Bible on my work table this week, I need one now! I want some designs on mine, so it should be fun to come up with something! Thanks again! God Bless, Ross and Kara
@@DIYOnTheHouse The design on our Bibles is a very simple leather cross, stitched on. It is 3" tall by 2.25" wide and set above the mid-point of the cover, just before a leather strap - - 1 3/8" wide - - so the Bible closes with a snap. That cover has served us very well. But, I notice you are much more artistic than that. (We have had our Bibles covered with those covers for more than forty years - - MY! Time flies when one is having fun, doesn't it?😊
I also appreciate very much your extra effort in including many who do not have access to all the tools that are "ideal" for the job - - that makes for a very thorough teacher. I have also enjoyed your weaving videos. Your effort has afforded me many contented hours of productivity along with prayer and meditation as I work. What a blessing you have been and are.
Thank you for this video you made,...this is exactly what ive been wanting to do to my bible and shows exactly how to do it. I cant wait to get started on it🤩...God bless,..
Absolutely! There are the punch tools that you use, then hand stitch. Here is a set that amazon has www.godaddy.com/help/access-another-persons-account-as-a-delegate-12373 I show how to in this video ua-cam.com/video/vCoViyGztKU/v-deo.htmlsi=VqyA9MnRPszRTQ_b
Just wondering..why do the sheep leather bibles are always pained black? The neutral bege color is so beautiful, what would you recommend putting on top of the material if I m not planning to dye it? ❤
I have a few different old missal that are different sizes and the covers are getting worn out from handling them. Most of the missal covers sold online are too big so I decided to look into how make protective covers on own.
Thank you for sharing your “how-to” on making a cover for a book. Very easy to follow your steps! I will have to check out some leather at H.L. to make one for my yearly church missal. Again thank you! 🥰
You are outstanding... Most people on UA-cam doesn't go into detail like you... They speed up their video on the measurements and precise dimensions... They skip all precise details....

Hello is there any other to make the sleeves. I don't have a sawing machine.😊

@@DIYOnTheHouse thank you so much 🙏
Is the contact cement necessary? Could I use more clips on the edge before sewing? What about staining before sewing?
I do a lot of bags and wallets. I always stain before using any other chemicals or adhesives. (Contact cement, tokonole, resolene, top coat, etc.
The cover looks smart 🤓.
Are you going to engrave. "Holy Bible" on the front?
Ross wanted it left blank. But that would be a great idea.
Nice😀
Thank you!
Nice video but at the bottom of the cover the stiching looks really bad.
Other wise great job.
Thanks for the comment
Beautiful! I made mine out of material but I will be trying this. Thanks!
Wonderful!
Miss are u believer?
Yes I am!
Just wondering..why do the sheep leather bibles are always pained black? The neutral bege color is so beautiful, what would you recommend putting on top of the material if I m not planning to dye it? ❤

Wonderful!! Let me know if you have any questions!
Wow- a lot of work but it came out beautiful, I also love your bible cover as well- happy new year and God bless you from NYC!! 🤗💖🌹🎉🎆🗽
Thank you! You too!
Would it have helped if one scored two lines the width of the thickness of the Bible on the inside of the cover?
Maybe, if your leather is really thick. If you have thin leather, I don't think it is necessary to score it.
Thanx
Yeah
I am doing one too
Hmmm
Thank you so much
Yours looks great.
Have fun, and thanks for watching.
Beautiful job. I'm going to do one.
Have fun! We love our!
How did you go about adding stitches to the edge of the cover?
I show the sewing at 6:35 in the video.
