Sparse, poignant, introspective - SYML's music has been dreamy from the get-go, when then-indie Brian Fennell had a surprise bump in listeners after his shimmering "Where's My Love" was featured in an episode of 'Teen Wolf.' That was 2016. Ever since, Fennell, working under the name SYML (Welsh for "simple") has expanded his songbook and refined his craft, stressing the same kind of evocative tone in his heartfelt tunes, while upping his tracks' dramatic impact along the way. 2019 found SYML dropping its first full album, so we invited Fennell in to do a couple of songs in the stripped-down setting he's so comfortable working in. His performances of "Clean Eyes" and "Wildfire" are powerful in their candor, instantly drawing you into their world. Fennell uses a full band on the new album versions, so these takes are unique. Share 'em with anyone who enjoys an unadorned look at romance.
