The code for the piston mod wasn't stolen afaik Also, lightning rods are a transparent redirector from all sides which doesn't forking break like detector rails and doesn't send block updates like observers.
I think he was joking about the pistons but on a related note, I really wish Mojang still did things like this as a lot of features pre release started as mods and got added in officially. Like why not bring OptiFine features into the official game or something like Cubic Chunks. I know it's not as easy as it was back then (because old mods were just an extension of the official code and not based on a completely different API like Forge nowadays) but it would still be nice.

With the fact that a 16-bit ALU was built in minecraft in _2010,_ I'm surprised we didn't get redstone computer sooner. I mean, computers back then probably weren't quite strong enough to handle even the most basic of redstone computers, but it's still suprising how long it took.
Relatively speaking, it’s not that hard to scale up to a computer from 16-bit ALU. The problem is that pretty much any gate has a .1 second delay so making anything would be incredibly slow. The challenge is making it fast imo.

This is amazing. I used to play MC back then without redstone (this was cracked at 2014 I was like 6-7) and it was all oak wood, cobble, and glass in my house. Redstone changed my gameplay and now I can create nukes and engines.
