I’m not typically a fan of the birthday Dolls gimmick, however, I love them is doing a Rapunzel birthday doll. It just makes so much sense with her story that her birthday would be a big deal to her so I might get that one actually because it looks really cool and fun.
I got the Rupaul doll for $50 and honestly the price was the main reason I got her. The detail and quality is definitely there. As I keep saying, these high end "collectors" dolls that Mattel keeps charging $100+ for are WAY overpriced. The fact that so many of these dolls are still available on Mattel Creations and not sold out show the prices are too high.
I have been thinking that mattel should make a line of Barbie's where the dolls are inspired by different styles. Like a y2k popstar, street style, a glamor girl, a mcbling style or an emo or grunge doll. And then on the bakc of the box it can tell you about their style, what it means to them and who they are inside. You know, something cute , cool, and edgy that could stand out and be different or innovative.
My immediate thought when I saw the Rainbow High littles pic was ‘Oh, how the mighty have fallen’. I can’t believe that is the direction they’re choosing to go.
I love the Pixlings❤ I rebodied Amber (the dragon) with Lorna McNessie from Monster High and it’s just perfect. Since I really got into collecting the MH painted faces are rarely still giving for me. Though I got a Cleo G3 (never thought that lol) to have a body for another doll and want to use the head because she‘s so pretty. Maybe I‘ll have enough practice in repainting one day. But the faces of the Pixlings, love them so much. I decided to probably not get Unia, Derlee and Marena (ok maybe they’re on sale now) because the Shimmerverse dolls look so good and I want those version and also the Bear one❤
The dream besties's faces looks nice.Their hairs are cute and the outfits too but the shoes are too simple. Would be cute to see star shoed or a big bow on Teressa's heels to match her clothes. I used to have a Bratz doll with her boyfriend; she had an adorale beret, her clothes were soft and her black vest was pretty. Her hair too plus she had sunglasses, a coffee cup, a purse AND i could removed her foot and put differents shoes. That was fun! I sadly lost her but had nice memories of this doll 🥰
I don’t if this could ever be confirmed. But I find it troubling seeing the cheapening quality of playline at Mattel because I feel that it’s a more direct line to landfills. I imagine the toys of Mattel past were more worthy of saving, purchasing at the thrift etc.
I believe the entire purpose of the Dream Besties is to attract those who, like me, aren’t fond of the more ‘realistic’ Barbie face sculpt. I’ve never been a fan of Barbie, but I certainly have my eyes on those.

@@staytinyengene I’m convinced that the Besties are a mix and spiritual successor of both Ever After High and My Scene, which, in my opinion, were among the best head sculpts Mattel has ever done.
when i look at dream besties all i can think off is ever after high pacifically apple white, cedar wood, briar beauty and raven queen just there face sculps are reminiscent of those characters and what there dolls probably would look like in todays reboot era
Out of the Dream Besties Brooklyn’s outfit is the most realistic except the shoes , the rest look like Mattel couldn’t decide if their princesses, or actually modern teens.. I’m happy they didn’t use the Barbie sized heads, because if they did there’s no need buying them just by Barbie instead.
The Addms Family dolls are not inspired by the Netflix series but by the animated film that came out a few years ago. The Wednesday dolls from the Netflix series will be released soon
6:35 a thought just came to mind that would SERVE In addams family values, Joan Cusacks character Debbie in that spectacular feathery silk robe She was the most beautiful in that movie
If i create a doll line; i would make one based on fantasy creatures like: Phoenix, dragons, centaurs and pegasus. Each doll would come with 3 differents outfits, a brush, cost 30$ and they would have rainbow skin; silver for the pegasus, purple for the dragon, green for the nymph etc. It's like the Monster high dolls but based on creatures instead of monsters. A cool concept 😀

They're pretty popular in the UK and I always like checking them out when I visit Smiths and I am always blown away by the quality of these things. Like they are propper solid plastic. Like these things are sturdy and they're so detailed in the molding and paintwork. And the dragons, man! Their wings actually move and their often so to their jaws. I've never gotten one because I just don't collect that type of thing but damn if these aren't tempting.

The Lol Tween Mermaid dolls have color changing tails so I think that’s acceptable as a reason why they have a lot of plastic. Also one thing you’ve missed about the dolls is if you look closely at the close up you made in the video, you can see there is a gap in the tail signaling that the tails are articulated and you can actually sit the dolls down or pose them in swimming positions which is a lot more than what can be said if the Barbie mermaid dolls from the past ten years. I hope that little detail makes you more excited for those dolls.
I actually love the Barbie Dream Besties and the Rainbow High Littles. I have 2 of the Rainbow High Littles at the moment, and they are just so bloody adorable. Will definitely get all of them!
Apparently I’m literally the only one to notice the hip/tail articulation on the Lol Tween Mermaid dolls. I noticed it immediately as soon as the close up of the dolls appeared on screen.
I dunno, I really like the dream besties head mold! I’ve always been way more interested in fantasy-esc dolls than realistic ones. Though I get that the face can be a big decider for a lot of people. I knew I couldn’t really get into bratz cause I didn’t care much for the faces, so I guess it goes both ways.

im excited for the new barbie line but i HATE the eah looking head molds. the round-pancake look is just so ugly to me and i really do wish they would’ve have more "structured" head molds. the feet also look weirdly tiny to me and i wish they could’ve been more proportionate tbh; something like the mh foot mold would’ve been better.
off topic but i got my first disney ariel doll at disney & her red hair feels amazingggg. one of my earliest memories is showing my parents how beautiful ariel’s hair was on a doll as a kid. (my fave childhood movie)

As a doll collector who only collects princess Dolls (and 90s Dolls for nostalgia reasons) i think doll makers are concentrating more on todays trends and contemporary fashion ..i really think they should re-do a classic princess line with good quality dresses and detail..last time he saw them was decades ago. And yes Barbies take on rainbow High and Bratz should of had the long trousers and long hair to be more stunning..i dont think they are necissary becsuse of cry baby teens,rainbow high etc but an ok idea.
The mermaid tweens are cute imo as a mom to a 3 year old she will like them in the tub. Some of the mermaid dolls have had issues with not being really PLAYABLE in the water. Yes we don’t ever seen to get quality like we did in the 90s and 00s but I still think they look cute and good addition to her things she loves her mermaids in the water
The best part of the Lol Tween Mermaid dolls that Joey hadn’t even noticed is the fact that there is tail articulation at the hips! He’s been complaining for quite some time now how disappointing it is that Barbie has done away with articulation at the hips and tail for mermaid dolls.

I wonder if the plastic over cloth clothing is a matter of cost, easier to make a mold for a machine to pop out the plastic clothes vs paying someone to sew the tiny cloth clothes? Someone who works in manufacturing would know better than me, but that's my guess.

My 6 year old daughter will love the Barbie Dream Besties. I hope there will be a TV show to go with them. I am just disappointed that there are never Indian dolls to represent my daughter. Even the Barbie Looks line that has tons of diversity has no Asian Indian doll.
