Around 1990 Smiths Industries (Grand Rapids,MI) hired me to modify the Z8000 assembly code on an in house built 429 based I/O controller for the Boeing 737-300 to increase the thru-put. I loved the Z8000 microprocessor and it was a simple task over 3 months to provide a 30% increase. The hardware guy was not a happy fellow since he wrote the initial version of the code and was convinced his code could not be improved. I saw this many times with arrogant stubborn hardware engineers. I was quickly moved to more challenging projects, and eventually returned to North Central Florida since I did not like the snow. -- 8.7.2023
We are discussing how to use UEI 429 IO boards to communicate with ARINC 429 devices. This is useful for System Simulation, Flight Simulators, Component and System Test both on and off board the airplane, and as an ARINC 429 bus analyzer.
