You should definitely check out the piano's of Paul McNulty. His remake Chopin Pleyel is one of the finest instruments I ever played on. He also has Walter, Streicher, Boisselot and other beauties.
If you ever get the opportunity to play or listen to a Tröndlin piano, DO IT - and do NOT hesitate! Thank me later...but good luck finding one in the wild. You'll need it.
Just came across this video and found 'Abschied', which is my first schumann piece! It somehow reminds me of how I used to practice in the early stages, hopefully I can return home to my piano after the whole covid is over....
What a treat to hear this on a fortepiano. I expected to last only a few minutes but I was unexpectedly drawn in to appreciate and really enjoy the experience. I may just be inspired to apply myself to learning a few more of these pieces! Many thanks indeed - David
Is it known what Clara Schumann thought of the more modern pianos of the time later on compared to the older forte pianos when these pieces were written? Did she think pieces by Schumann sounded better on the more recent pianos since she outlived Robert Schumann by many years or did she prefer them played on the forte pianos?
Lovely performance but on a fortepiano? I know it's period-accurate but regardless it sounds better on a modern grand- there's a reason why the fortepiano has fallen out of use. Surely Schumann had access to modern pianos in his lifetime.
The "modern piano" did not come about until c.1859, with the introduction of Steinway (Schumann died in 1856). Regardless of the fact that certain pieces of piano literature do indeed sound better fitted to the modern piano because of its colorful and endless ability for evocativity, we must all remember that it is a treat to hear it somewhat precisely as the composer would have heard it.
I agree with @@thepianoman6958. But I also think that this particular piece works very well on fortepiano. It really brings out the voices and the colors of the piece!
The sound of the fortepiano is just amazing 👍

02. Jager auf der Lauer (숨어 기다리는 사냥꾼)
03. Einsame Blumen (고독한 꽃)

Abschied has to be one of the sweetest things Schumann wrote
I've never heard a fortepiano sound this good.
Seriously! Another one that changed my mind about the fortepiano is Robert Hill's recording of W. F. Bach polonaises. Check it out it's so good

Ikr, you don't hear fortepianos much these days.
I like the sound of this fortepiano . It doesn't sound as tinny and shallow as others I've heard .
Beautiful Instrument, inspiring Interpretation
Murakami brought me out of the dark wrestling and brought me here.😍 Where are you Murakami lovers 😊
Haha I just reread that book

The Picture of Dorian Gray
The exact reason I looked this up was because I'm re-reading Dorian Gray and it's mentioned in Chapter II.

enchanting. please do more period instrument videos!
my first schumann piano piece is einsame blumen, and its sounds are so beautiful
Thank you for uploading! best sound.🐦
This is one of my favorite pieces and you expressed it excellently! My favorite would probably be Abschied, very nice.
Makes me wonder whether or not I am listening to Schumann playing on his Conrad Graf.
I love the no.6!

J aime beaucoup cette oeuvre, mais proposerais volontiers un montage qui l'a mutilerait et la desordonnerait en 1,3,8,6,9
What do you think about?
Some pianists make such things. For me nonsense.
I find this thanks to Dorian Gray

Non,pardon ,4 ,pas 3 !!
J enlèverais volontiers de l oeuvre "l oiseau prophète".
Je ne comprends pas que ce soit devenu la pièce la plus connue du recueil !!
