It appears that the Vanquest is made of a lighter material than the Maxpedition . I may have missed you saying that in the commentary. Lighter danear for more money doesn't sound like a good deal to me. I own a couple Maxpedition items and while they are several years old and have been used in the field they still look new.
Vanquest uses genuine 1000-D DuPont-invented CORDURA, which is softer, lighter and more abrasion-resistant than generic 1000-d/1050-d nylon. The 500-d US-Made MultiCam-Black CORDURA is the only non-1000-d CORDURA that we use, because that's the only option offered by Crye Precision (MultiCam owner) on that specific pattern. -Vanquest Team
We seem to be on the same page lately with new gear! Thanks for this review. I've been researching the Vanquest line myself and I think I'm going to make the switch from Maxpedition. Also check out the Vanquest FAT-pak, looks like an excellent bag! Now all you need is a couple Blunt umbrellas!!! Later!
I look forward to the series. I was given a Vanquest PPM organizer for Christmas and am certain Vanquest will win the head to head challenge. However, I'm am convinced that the difference between the two won't make it worth my money to get rid of the Maxpedtion pouches I own and replace them with new Vanquest organizers/pouches.
Smalltown Prep Both are fantastic organizers. You can't go wrong with either. They will last 10+ years easily. Hopefully this series will help out folks who are currently in the market for an organizer.
I know which one will (should) win. One of them is made along side popular milsim gear, minus the name & logo. The other is marketed as the gear of gear for tacticool operators who want to buy it once, and it lasts forever. Which one will BE the winner? :) Thanks för sharing
Update: After 14 months, the elastic holders inside my Maxpedition organizer have stretched so much they no longer hold the items securely. Live and learn!
Hearing great things about the Vanquest gear, just a damn shame it is not available here in the UK yet..Thanks for the video Cliff...makes me want it even more haha
TheUrbanPrepper I was looking at the backpacks and these pocket pouches buddy but that would be asking way too much of yourself and Santa hehe. I ideally would have liked to get a more compact bag for my BOB as the one I currently have is huge. Something like the IBEX-30 would be perfect but that is Epic$$$ :o
What's the denier on the Vanquest? I have tons of Maxpedition stuff, but the 1000 on the fabric is so freaking stiff. I'm not in the army and I don't need it to survive a bomb blast - it makes it difficult to break it in. Edit to Add: Looked it up from your link - same.
Where do you find maxpedition for 22-24 dollars? Amazon has it for around 35 dollars. Maybe i have the wrong model in my wishlist. Looking forward to these tests
Over the years as far as price is concerned. In my area on Amazon you have a larger choice of what Maxpedition offers over just one or two models of Vanquest. But the Vanquest models are 4 times the price of the Maxpedition models. The Maxpedition EDC is around thirty dollars CDN and the Fatty is around forty dollars CDN. Similar models of the Vanquest in size as the Max Fatty are now around a hundred and twenty dollars CDN. I have half a dozen Max products of different sizes. I would like to get a Vanquest but for the cost of one of those I can buy 4 or 5 Max pocket organizers of different sizes. The Vanquest may be better constructed but really for me the Max products are the better deal.
I've had the Maxpedition EDC Organizer for last couple of years and it's mostly OK, but perhaps too big. My pens aren't nearly long enough to fill it, so it takes up a bit too much space. Perhaps their Micro Pocket Organizer would be more proper size. Or just a plain old school pen pouch with zero tacticool factor...
My Maxpedition Organizer is still holding up after a year plus of very light use. How is yours holding up from your kit ? Also have the Max FIGHT IFAK with an Umbrella Velcro Moral Patch for when the zombies attack that has seen light use. And my SOE EDC Belt will tear through me before it breaks. Keep up the good work and the zombies will not peak till October. Eyes UP and lights down, tjl Sent by Win7Pro64 w/ADSL
Tim Lipinski Mine is holding up great. All of my Maxpedition products still look almost new. Both Vanquest and Maxpedition make extremely high quality gear. Thanks for the support, Tim!
On the video that you did last month about BOB disguise can you do an video on the mini get home bag or minimalist get home bag see my uncle in japan is also prepper too well were both survival dudes actually and he carries his edc bag at work, when he's traveling, also when things goes wrong. He doesn't have like bug out bag or get home bag but he goes with edc type of pack which I wanted to ask a question on how can you survive with minimal amount of stuffs?
Glad to see some of these type of reviews hitting the web. Look forward to seeing your results. I have one of each, and thus far they both serve their purposes. I also have a couple from 3vgear.com (may want to check them out as a budget option) and they are pretty decent as well. Overall, they are all great products. I have not had a problem one out of any of them, and they all have their pros and cons depending on what you want to use it for. Love the videos, keep it up!
I guess people tend to go for the Maxpedition because of the name! I fell into the trap of getting the Maxpedition Micro Pocket organiser and now I wish I hadn't😄 !!!!
HI BOSS.. I M 4RM INDIA I LIKES U R STYLE OF REVIEW & I ENJOY IT WELL... IT HELP ME 2 MAKE MY EDC .. BUT D PROBLEM IS I CANT GET SOME ITEM IN INDIA LIKE FIRE ROD, PRB PADS, WATER PURE TAB. MAXPEDITION BAGS. CANTEEN BOTTLE & MUG.SO WHAT CAN I DO IN THIS CASE PL. REPLY ... AGAIN THANKS FOR YOUR REFLACTION OF INTELIGENCE .TAKE CARE
Doesn't matter anymore, because if you don't have the Maxpedition one already, you're not going to get one. They discontinued it for 2015, unfortunately.
If I'm not mistaken, the pocket organizer they included in their list of discontinued items was just for that specific tan color. Looking at their website now, the green, black, gray, and brown colors are still available in most styles for the item.
TheFlyingSmidget Really? I thought that too, but the other colors were all sold out so I sort of assumed they were just burning off the last of the tan ones. I might be wrong though. I really wish they hadn't discontinued anything though, it makes me sad to think I might not be able to get the little notebook cover, regardless of how overpriced it is. (Or maybe that one was only the one color, too? I really don't know.)
Yeah, again, I could be wrong, as I'm not a huge follower of Maxpedition, but from what I saw, that's what I gathered. All I can say is that I hope they're not discontinuing anything but certain colors, as I know how awesome their stuff can be, and I do plan on buying some of their products in the future.
Similar, but much lower price (and quality) product, is Condor's MA16 Pocket Pouch. I've stored a bunch of nicknacks in it--pens, a mini-medi (thanks, TheUrbanPrepper for that idea!), the 1.5" Gerber Mini Paraframe, a pen screwdriver by Stanley, chapstick, firesteel with about 10' of paracord, toenail clippers, tweezers, zip ties, three AA batteries, headphones, and earplugs--and it is probably one of the worst pieces of gear Condor has made, in my opinion. I do not feel like the elastic webbing is stitched well enough to fit different kinds of items, it isn't deep enough for the min-medi AND all the other gear I put in it, and there isn't any MOLLE webbing on the back (but it does have integrated straps to attach it to something with MOLLE). My expectations of it may have been too high for what I was intending to do with it, since I downsized to it from Condor's MA64 Sidekick Pouch (which easily has two to three times the capacity). I downsized because the bag on which I had the MA64 wore slap out, and got a different bag that couldn't accommodate it. On a side note, the MA64 would make a fantastic all-in-one survival kit, kinda like your SAS fanny pack.
I've owned my Falcon II backpack for 7 years now... it's been from the Grand Canyon to the mountains of Taiwan. I just washed it in the shower with dishsoap and it looks brand new... I do not baby my gear either... I wouldn't trade it for any other pack...
I would attach this vanquest pouch to the front of my backpack with the Molle webbing, and the Maxpedition to the side, that would expand my carrying capacity
Looking forward to the tests although both good EDC organizers that will outlast many other cheaper models.
I have the Maxpedition in foliage green I love it I use it everyday but I can't wait to see your battle between the two!
Vanquest is coming on strong. Great designs and I like their colors and light reflecting interiors.
Looks like maxpedition has been given a run for its money!

Vanquest Gear Thanks for responding. I didn't know. Now I do. Ok I will give your gear a closer look.
hoosierarcher You are welcome sir; enjoy your weekend.
Can't WAIT! Rumble In The urban-Jungle!

Yep...
SurvivalTechNord I had some fun with this series. I think you'll enjoy the next stress test video. It caused quite the scene locally. :)
I'll be looking forward to it. :)
Me too! :)
Great comparison. In reality, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that they were made in the same factory though like Maxpedition and MagForce. ;)
Update: After 14 months, the elastic holders inside my Maxpedition organizer have stretched so much they no longer hold the items securely. Live and learn!
Both great organizers,I like the Vanquest better because of the size, I have a lot of stuff.
They have bigger pouches
Hearing great things about the Vanquest gear, just a damn shame it is not available here in the UK yet..Thanks for the video Cliff...makes me want it even more haha
Chris Lee Which item are you looking for specifically? I may be able to talk to Santa Claus about a belated present.
TheUrbanPrepper I was looking at the backpacks and these pocket pouches buddy but that would be asking way too much of yourself and Santa hehe. Enjoyable video, but I don't believe you are comparing apples to apples in size!
"Wide array"
awesome comparison video
+Jacob Kim Thanks Jacob!
Looks like van quest is a knock off of the maxpedition bags
Haha this made me laugh.
yeah~~made in Taiwan
Vanquest all day over Maxpedition. Cheap shit.
