- more at offthewall.tv - Amy Purdy is a snowboarder, skateboarder, makeup artist, actress, model and is also a double leg amputee.
At the age of 19, she contracted Neisseria meningitis, a form of bacterial meningitis. Due to the disease, which affected her circulatory system, both of her legs had to be amputated below the knee. Her spleen and a kidney had to be removed as well. Two years later, she received a kidney transplant from her father. Her friends now refer to her by the nickname Lucky.
Amy's most significant accomplishment to date is in the creation and development of the action sport athletic organization; Adaptive Action Sports. In 2005 Amy and her partner Daniel Gale founded the non-profit organization to help adaptive athletes get involved with action sports, art and music. As of 2011 Amy is currently ranked #1 in the world for Adaptive Snowboarding and recently got adaptive sports into the 2011 X-Games. Amy's future goal
is getting adaptive sports into the 2014 Olympics.

Wow she's admirable , she has such inner strength, determination, passion , and wisdom ! She's just so beautiful inside and out, that she has no legs makes no difference at all. And that she said she is happy this happened to her because she knows she can handle it , just wow!

Hey, Amy is awesome and whomever posted the spam comments, or dislikes this ... what world do you live in? What I know about Amy is that she is probably one of the most inspirational people on the globe, and probably has superhuman balance to be able to do what she does, and is one of very few people to survive the illness. it seems as if shes still a little apprehensive about talking about her prosthetics but im SO impressed with how tough this chick is. SHes out there doing what she loves and that overshadows her disability completely. When i look at her is see a snowboarder and a skateboarder. Thats it.

Vegas1Joker, TatianaSword, and Brentsey, what is yalls deal?? You are posting a lot of these comments on the various videos of Amy and I think they are pretty tasteless. Some were removed by UA-cam as spam (thank goodness). Frankly, why don't you all get a clue, a heart, or at least a life and find places where your view of life is appreciate ... maybe prison or something. Amy is doing pretty inspirational things with her life and helping others! Crawl back under the rock, ok!

Amy is a super beautiful and sexy girl. The confidence she carries herself with is a real turn on for me and I'm sure a lot of other guys. The way she can handle herself with her prosthetic legs, to me, is wayyyyy more of a turn on than if she had a "perfect" set of "real" legs. Her adaptability, willingness to persevere and just plain hotness make her one of my fantasy gals.
