My biggest gripe that I have with my work is figuring out where to spot the blacks. I rely too much on my weighted line art to do the work, but I still find a page to look incomplete.

Consider your light source. Is it possible it's at 12 or 9 or 3, or just rising over the horizon? Keep drawing and keep smiling, havea great day ya'll.

I'm a fan of yours and a fan of Todd McFarlane. With spawn being my favorite super hero maybe if you have a character of own you could draw them in combat or maybe batman talking to Gordon with the bat signal on behind him for contrast.

Great video. Do you have any suggestions for someone like me who is a novice artist. I want to get better. I’m overwhelmed by all the stuff I need to learn. Is there an order that I should practice the different skills I need. I love comic book art and want to learn that style. I’m self taught and I am hopping around from shading, perspective, anatomy with no clear path. I do this for fun not make it a career. Maybe you could do some in-depth videos on just practicing.?

Try to pick just one thing to practice on instead of hopping around. Focus on drawing that one thing you want to practice for s while, until you feel it looks and feels good. Then you can move onto something else to practice until you’re satisfied. That’s some advice I’ve heard.

This vid actually helped since when I shade I just make sure it dose not look like the figure is just fully black. But now listening I know where and when to shade.
