Exactly what I've always thought a circus should be, no little people, no non-human wild or domestic animals, nobody flying out of a canyon, no mockery... CDS is the embodiment of all great human virtues: creativity, aesthetics, music, poetry without words and behind the scene, hard work, care, devotion. Inspirational and beautiful. @@ttpdTV09Il veut certainement dire quelque chose plutôt comme: pas d'exposition de personne ayant des différences physiques marqués comme le nanisme ou autre "malformation" comme des "curiosités". Tout le monde ici est traité comme un être humain et non comme une bête de foire comme c'était et c'est parfois le cas dans d'autres cirques ou spectacles.

The most fascinating part about this stuff to me is who comes up with the stunts and how do they know what is humanly possible and what isn’t? So cool
I wonder also if everything is strictly planed in these solo perfomances or if they just know what they can do and what will work out and then they improvise? Eg this cry wheel, is there a strict plan how he will spin around in 5:00 or is it just like let's have a spinning session and see what happens....
@@janbensi4065 I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure every single second of the routine is choreographed. So the guy knows when to start and stop the spinning sesh and what to do during it

The circus make the auditions searching for the sport they want, then the ones who autidion have to show their ability & what they can do. Take months.
@Ian Hornbuckle @Jan Bensi @ly ne I love these questions because I know this like the back of my hand. Sorry, this will be long. Usually, the performers come up with tricks and skills, especially with this act because the performer actually designed this apparatus and is the best in the world so far, and in gymnastics, my sport, when someone does a new skill, it will usually be named after them and maybe added to or banned from the code of points depending on the danger level of said skill. Nobody outside of the actual athletes comes up with skills especially when put in a routine so it's a matter of time before someone comes along and is able to do that skill. Next question, almost everything is choreographed and rehearsed to a t but there might be slight differences in how it's executed, it's just the human element, but we are usually able to count how many times we, say, spin on a crossed wheel but with the hula hoops, it's a bit different because Elena or whoever is performing is not counting how many times it spins because that's not as important as it is with the crossed wheel, she's just trying to keep it spinning. It's also a very heavy amount of muscle memory as well and we don't so much as see what we're doing as we do feel it. Final comment, Cirque du Soleil is such a big company that they hold annual auditions that are open, and people are evaluated based on their skillset. Not everyone gets a job at first but they're all entered into the Cirque database of performers so Cirque can hire them for a role they need filled later. If you're lucky and have someone you know who works there, they can put your foot in the door for you and you can sometimes bypass the audition process but will still be evaluated. After you are cast, you do prepare for months with a specific act(s) which you can recommend, but ultimately, they will put you where they need you. Done. If you read all that, thank you. Hope that answers your questions.

When we watched this, the performers during the "Alegria" segment actually kissed and the whole crowd just lost it. It was gorgeous T__T

I experienced Alegria in 2019 in South florida. It was my first time going to Cirque de Soleil...and not only was I blown away, I was so mesmerized at how impactful it was that I have not forgotten about it to this very day. It is something that will live forever in your memories. Irenes voice is so magical and underated. Alegria is something that the whole world needs to see.

I haven't seen Alegria, but I had the same experience when seeing "O" in Vegas 20 years ago.....go see O! It's unforgettable. I've since seen a few other of their shows, but O is still the best.
Alegria was also my first. I saw it in Seattle in 2003, and even though I've seen others, Alegria remains my favorite with fast track being my favorite act.
I'm very glad you enjoyed the show. And even more glad that this show was your first introduction to Cirque du Soleil. It's definitely my favorite. I love hearing people's first-time experiences in seeing a Cirque show. I wish I could wipe out my mind and experience this show again for the first time. I saw this show five times when it was here in Seattle very recently.
Irene is absolutely fantastic! I was about five feet away from her at the security gate when I was meeting with other artists and I'm kicking myself that I wasn't able to get her attention to ask for a photo. I gave her two dozen white roses at the end of the show on their last show here in Seattle. She's so amazing.
I had the pleasure to meet Irene just before the last show of 2019, which I attended, she was so nice, I asked for a picture and she went above and beyond and recorded a video for my daughter introducing herself and other performers who were at the store with her. Later at the show, her performance blew me away, she is absolutely amazing. The other singer is also fantastic. I believe they both created a beautiful experience to remember for a lifetime. Thank you both of you.

Cirque is so amazing - from the performers to the choreographers to the musicians to the directors to the trainers to the lighting and stage crews, etc... All of these people are magicians who dazzle us with their brilliance 👏🏻

Wow! I loved the "old Alegria", but this one is amazing. It deserves much more attention. Hopefully this beautiful art can be shown very soon on the world stages, were it belongs to!
I also love the other Alegria. It was my first introduction into Cirque du Soleil and I've been obsessed with CdS ever since. But this new incarnation just blew it out of the water. I saw it 5 times when the show came to Seattle. I cried during Mirko because everything was just so beautiful. I've seen a lot of Cirque shows and Alegria: In a New Light is most definitely the best one I've seen and my favorite.
I was lucky to be able to take my children and I to see this amazing show in Nice, France. The talent, singing, costumes, lighting and stage props were simply breathtaking, one word for the Cirque de Soleil.....perfection.

Saw this in Sacramento last night. So good! The two singers had beautiful voices, the performers were amazing. Such a fun night!!
Just saw the show at Sacramento this afternoon, was so excited to see the show as a big cirque du soleil fan, but i have to say I’m pretty disappointed.. the show missing the due straps and some other parts, which is the most important part with the main song, also feel like they changed the show compared to this spotlight, so sad…

Im not getting moved by the instrumentation. Does not sound live. Sounds recorded and lacks the feel I had for the old.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who didn’t get the same magical feeling I got from the original run of Algeria. Francesca Gagnon had such a beautiful voice and elegance. The whole new costume and lighting does not give the same energy as it did before.
The amount of trust they have for each other is remarkable
They probably practice 40 hours a day, and it’s reflected in their movements, precision, and bodies ❤️✨
It's hard to imagine how much time and effort goes into a production like this. Conceiving the story, hiring the talent, making the costumes, writing the music, rehearsing every move and note to perfection, Feeding, transporting and housing the talent, crew and management, dealing with injuries and setbacks, and pulling off a tight performance who knows how many times a year and making it profitable!!???!!!
Reminds me of taking my daughter to this last year. The look of pure joy on her face was amazing. It really is an incredible show.

i saw Alegria when I was a young kid and fell completely in love with it!
Wow I broke out into tears during the climax of the second performance. That was wholly unexpected and strange.
I cried too... Watched them live, it is even more powerful! You are immersed in that moment,; the atmosphere inside the tent, the lighting, the live music being played and you are witnessing a interaction with beauty beyond words!
The talent, the stamina, the choreography is just phenomenal. Beautiful I loved the first one and love this new version can’t wait to see it live someday… ❤️

In my honest opinion, the original version had way more magic and elegance. With Francesca Gagnon’s beautiful singing the original run was phenomenal, classic Cirque.

Waw! Allegria is my all time favourite show!!! Though I preferred the scratching voice (and more tuned, in my opinion) of the original singer, she has a very different voice and gives to the song something magical like the idea behind this beautiful Cirque and all the people around it. Music is an indissoluble bond. Thanks for creating such a wonderful world!!!

I saw Alegria many years ago for the first time in NYC . It was my birthday and I was fortunate enough to be the one chosen from the audience to go on stage for their opening act .Needless to say it was the most fantastic experience ever. Since that day I have followed their performances to different parts of the world. Their performance transfix your soul. The music, the acts, the movement, how everything flows and comes together with with the story…. is just sublime

I don't care how good these singers are (and they're incredible), no one has the magic that Francesca Gagnon has.
What a wow performance! These performers put in lots of sweats, tears, and all that hard work! Must be such an achievement to be apart of this circus! I remember back then, circus with clowns, elephants, tigers, lions, horses, and monkeys, and strange people. This circus only requires talented acrobatic people to perform. Splendid 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
😊 fun fact: the girl with "The Hula Hoops" is actually Olga Pachinko! She starred in the original way back I think the original premiered in the 90s she was 15 when it when it opened.
If one of my kids was in one of these shows, I’d be so proud and absolutely terrified!

This is awesome but nothing beats the original Algeria show. Absolutely nothing. I have it on DVD and I still get chills when I watch it.

Oh, this is wonderful! Alegria was my first Cirque show that I saw when I was....13? 14? It captured my imagination so much. I have such a soft spot for this show, and I'm very excited to see it come back in a new interpretation. I was so sad to hear that the show was being retired. It looks wonderful.

Antes , los principios de los 70 tenía una sede en Austin TX, se le llamaba circo del Sol porque era internacional, y había otro, histórico, con el nombre de Circo Internacional, también había sede en Italia, y Suecia/Noruega, aunque se movían por todo lugar que fuesen aceptados. Tuve la suerte de coincidir siendo un niño con alguna actividad, eran como personas lo que ves, sí merece la pena que lo veas, porque lo vivirás. Todos los niños que hicimos algunas cosas lo llevamos en el corazón. Nos llamaban pelotitas amarillas, pues con este color se nos veía mejor. Disfrútalo y se niña🤸🧚☀️

I saw the original show in Denver, CO right around 20 years ago and was blown away by the talent of these artists (Power Track was my favorite act). Now, having just seen the "new light" version in Portland, OR this past weekend, I just have to say that once again, the people of Cirque know how to impress. The grace, strength, flexibility, and artistry of these performers is beyond amazing. I'm 57 and just in awe at the spectacular show that is created by the people of Cirque. While I still cherish the story of the original, I can honestly say that this old man was impressed by the "new" story that was told. Thank you, Cirque du Soleil, for making this aging cynic believe in the magic once again.

Algeria will always be near and dear to my heart… fell in love with it the first time I ever saw… it was my first show from there I went to watch a few more when they came to my city…
It saddens me so deeply that I cant see this in person because the shows in my area last year were canceled. I love Solei and it was clips of alegria that made we fall in love with it years ago. I wanted to see it so bad and was excited to actually be able to see it in person, but now I can't. I will enjoy whatever show I get to see next, broken heart and all 💔💙❤
Love Cirque ever since i saw Dralion in Amsterdam many years ago. Always impressed with the amazing cast. As a former theater technician i also love the quality of the production, the incredible lichting, audio and amazing musicians. My hats off for all involved on and off stage.
