Your question at the end , What do we do when going in to service our vehicle? Exactly the challenge i have right now was considering renting a room temporarily but haven't found anything affordable.
Hi Amy, I’ve watched all your videos and really enjoyed them. I’m also trying to do a no build too (but in London, England, with a Peugeot Partner Tepee). I’ve had so many of the same thought processes as you, it’s quite funny, and also did the cut out drawings! I’ve got the same Anker SOLIX C1000x power station, (as well as a Jackery 500). I’ve got a low wattage induction hob by Vango (because I’m too scared to have a flame inside the car). I’ve got a heated electric blanket , which goes underneath the sheet and heated throw (actually I’ve got 3, a USB, a 12v and a regular electric one, as I’m trying to decide which would be best)… if I get brave enough to head out during our winter. And a little fridge… I just wanted to share the details of a privacy curtain that I got off Amazon, which I think will be a neater solution for you. It has special clips which fit neatly into the grooves on the pillars, by the seat belts, (where you were thinking of screwing something in, before the bungee idea). I’ve just checked and they’re also in USA. The company is called ZATOOTO. a.co/d/9O1s8L5 It is not as shiny as it looks in their photo. It’s sort of a soft lightweight microfibre on one side. They also do magnetic black out window curtains, which I use, just for shade, in lieu of my shop bought window thermal insulation covers, (specifically made for my model of van) which have suction cups to keep them in place. When I just don’t want people to see in, or to keep it dark/cool for the dog, and I’m in a rush. They easily slot into the metal recess of the window frame in seconds, and take up hardly any space, as they concertina up, into a tiny little bundle. a.co/d/h51pakF I’ve copied the links 🔗 I hope they work (I’m not on commission, 😝 I’m just really pleased with them). I’ve lost track of the amount of time I spend just sitting in my van, trying to work out next steps and visualise everything. I really look forward to your next episode. I will try to think of a name for your and Savannah Moon’s new home. Best wishes, Abi & Bella 🐕
Hi Abi! Thanks for the information. I’ve seen people use those electric blankets and I think the one under the sheet would be cool. I’ve seen other UA-camrs use both. The car curtain looks cool although I don’t think it will fit. I’m going to try it though. It’s just shy of the width that I would need. It’s like just over 49 1/2 inches and my van’s width is 50. I can always return it keep your fingers crossed 🤞🏻 Im excited for you and Bella!!! What are your winters like?
Hi Amy, Happy Vlogmas Day 24. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you that the curtains fit. I noticed that your van was a bit bigger than mine, when I saw that you could put your foldout bed across the width, giving you loads more usable space 😎 For the privacy curtain, I also support it in the middle, just above where the 2 curtains join. There just happens to be a little round plastic disc in my roof lining in the perfect spot, which I hook it over. But if you’ve not got one of those, I wonder if you could use one of those little safety pins that you’ve got for your fairy lights, or something a bit stronger. I’m also wondering if your roof lining is a fuzzy kind of material, which Velcro would stick to… if so, you might be able to use one of those 3M hooks, and stick the “hooky” side of the Velcro onto it… Just a thought 😊 Another useful hook that I’ve found for the window frame and rear door window are magnetic hooks with carabiners. I’ve put up a white blackout eyelet curtain across the rear window using those magnetic hooks. I’ve found a link for some on the USA site, although I don’t know how the size/strength compares to mine. a.co/d/dQfRLtF Because I use those little magnetic concertina blackout blinds, I discovered that it’s quite handy to use the metal frame of the door for slim magnets and yet still be able to close the door. It’s not too cold in London at the moment, about 45-55F. We’re driving to Wales this afternoon in the van for Christmas, but will be sleeping in my sister’s house. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Abi & Bella
There is a heated sleeping bag that has a portable battery pack. The battery takes 4 hours to charge but if used on the low setting, it can last days.

@@Live-Your-Passion oh no I’m sorry. I have seen some mechanics let you sleep in your vehicle at night. Maybe that’s an option?
@Bohotraveler some people are probably ok with that but since i dont want anyone to know i do sleep in it. I wouldn't want to do it.
Mobile mechanics are a great start as they can come to you. Also have gift cards on hand in case of emergency so you can get a hotel if needed
