I was fishing in Angeles Crest Forest (Los Angeles County) at about 2000ft back around 1995 on May 2. It was snowing. I caught a 16-inch trout and it's my grandmother's B-Day. That is how I remember the exact date. Don't let the OFFICIAL FIRST DAY of SPRING in California fool you!

When I saw the moon out during the day yesterday and how the light on it made no sense with where the sun was, I certainly felt that.

100% agree. I'm in Northern Illinois and my backyard garden is facing the southeast. In the hot summer months it is nice to get a break from the sun in the late afternoon. Vegetables are still getting 8 hours of full sun a day. The only vegetables that are affected by shorter sun hours are onions. They are smaller but that's fine with me.

Yes i agree SE is great especially for structure orientation. But... One has to be careful of of tree placement fruit and the like that they dont come out of dormicey to early then hit freeze period. Gardens not a big deal but food forests and orchards may want a orientation that keep ths trees dormant until the risk of heavy frost and freezing has past.

Keep in mind that heat is always temporary, it escapes everynight as the world turns, Its only hot on the Sunny side of the Universe, Wind direction changes every 48 hours in general and its called the Coriolis affect when cold and hot air mixes to create weather patterns.

I'm curious. How do you facilitate your relationship with nature in your immediate context now that you've created a border within which you heavily manage the resources. It becomes an atrtacctive space to the species that were not necessarily interested in extending their stay beyond passing through throughout previous seasons.
For instance, I have a groundhog that wasn't committed to my space until I made it appealing,. I love him now, but not so much several years ago, and the 'get along' ride was great.

My family and I spend countless hours in the forest on our property, and the most cleared areas are within the fence, so we maintain a great relationship with nature. The fence only helps by keeping the bears waking up, out.

A better word than "aspect' which means nothing other than something about an item has something to do with that word in some way. Using the word "orientation" when talking about a property makes it much more descriptive of what you are talking about. "A property has a southeastern orientation." says more than "A property has a southeastern aspect"
