L'ottima scuola vocale, il suo timbro è come l' odore di una bella rosa
...and just to make sure everybody understands what a vocal force she was, Lady Vaness breaks out "Caro Nome" and lays all doubt to rest.
Technique for DAYS.

a great artist
I am great fan of Carol Vaness! would you please upload another 3 arias from this Carol Vaness's album "Carol vaness verdi arias (1987) " : aria from AIDA, "MORRO, MA PRIMA" from Un Ballo in Maschera, and "SURTA E LA NOTTE" from ERNANI. Thank you very very very much !
I´m a huge fan of Carol Vaness. This album is fantastic with one exception or oddity, this aria. It´s admirable how artfully she guides her brightened voice through this aria but let´s be honest:
she´s not a Gilda. No one would cast such a fabulous lirico- spinto soprano for this. Another example or imagination: Of course can a Birgit Nilsson sing Mozart´s Susanna in Figaro, but who wants to hear it?
I like that she sang it nonetheless. She's not a Gilda, but often singers may include an aria out of their usual rep on an album since they have artistic freedom.
You´re totally right. And don´t misunderstand me - i enjoy it really much, i just noticed that she would never have been casted for this. I really like when singers in a studio record a part out of their repertory. The results are often highly exciting, think for example about Sutherland´s Turandot or Margaret Price´s Isolde and all the unexpected arias in countless recitals from countless singers.
She sang Gilda multiple times at New York City Opera early in her career.
Oh sweet Lord Jesus, now the idea of Nilsson's Susanna haunts me. "VENITE, INGINOCCHIATEVI!"
Hmmm. It speaks volumes about her technique, how well she sings this! It makes me wonder, how wide is her range?! I have loved her voice for a long time, but I didn't know that she could venture up into coloratura territory! And, with such spin and ease on the top notes! She is truly a wonder!
Beautiful.
