One of the A.M songs that just gets better and better each time you hear it. ‘Don’t Sit down’ ‘D Is For Dangerous’ and ‘this house is a circus’ are 3 others like that if you haven’t you should react to those 👍
Alex Turner is the same age as me, so I was basically living his lyrics on that first album at the same time he was. I grew up in Dublin in Ireland and him in Sheffield in England, obviously not a million miles away from each other, either culturally or literally, but our late teens/early 20's experiences were basically identical. This one is a perfect example. Not getting into a nightclub/disco, because of being too drunk, or a crappy fake I.D not holding up and then swapping jumpers (sweatshirts) with your friend, trying to get in again on;y a short time later and hoping the bouncer doesn't remember you, because being in this club on a Saturday night is the most important thing in your life seems beyond silly looking back on it now, but I did it and so did Alex obviously lol. I can't think of many albums that lyrically catch lightning in a bottle and perfectly sum up the youth culture of the moment (at least in Britain and Ireland) in the way that first Arctic Monkeys album did. Some lyricists create youth culture, Alex documented it pitch perfect. While I love a lot of the later stuff, none hit lyrically like that first album for me, it's like hopping in a time machine. Pure magic.
Fond memories of jamming in a band with my best friends around this time. We loved this song so much! Bands like libertines and the coral were older than us and just seemed more artistic/talented but arctic monkeys were just a group of mates with northern accents like us who wrote songs about getting hammered on a Saturday night like we did. I played the bass in our band so this was obviously my time to shine!
Hi Greg been a while yep this is a great Arctic Monkeys song one of my favs .. If you get a chance to listen to.. Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys.. or Temptation greets you like your naughty friend .. or even.. Leave before the lights come on.. these are some great Arctic Monkeys tunes ... and i miss Chris too .. Keep safe Guys.
I wished they still sounded like this, kinda sloppy and fun. The lyrics are great, stuff you would say when you were young and going to clubs. It's sounds spontaneous real life. Oh to be young and dumb! And you know he had hangover...
One of my favourite songs in their whole catalogue, love it
Thank you for checking this one out bro, one of their lesser known but best tunes.
So good!

Literally doesn’t compare to this song…….if you don’t see the difference you’re part of the problem with modern day music. 🙄
@@mookiestewart3776 read my comment again and actually understand it 😂
my favourite arctic monkeys song too
AM is how I found your channel to start. Never a bad song by them.
The opening lines to this song are epic. Alex at his very best.

Love this!
Good nights out in Sheffield 😀
Great reaction, Greg! That bass line takes you on a run doesn't it?
It sure does!

So glad you chose the arctic monkeys. You'll be hard pressed to find a song that will disappoint
I enjoyed the drum just driving the song and the other instruments for the highlights

Yep
I wish I was 23 as well
I missed what happened with Chris not being part of it anymore? Was there a specific issue or anything?
