No, you're not - it's those opening bars in the first movement that I have problems with. I really struggle with bringing out that opening melody without excluding any of the notes in the central part of the texture. I've experimented with sharing them between the hands in all sorts of ways, but nothing seems to work adequately. I find it very awkward and uncomfortable to play.
@@Man-From-Another-PlaceAre you still struggling on the first movement? I guess i could give you tips i finished it like 2 months ago. You'll definetly need a good fingering, one that suits you.
thanks for the video, I found it very interesting that ravel never performed the third movement, I imagine it must be a very difficult piece to perform, but it’s not more difficult than ondine, right? 😅
You're right, pedro. His Ondine is much more demanding technically (and longer!) But his Scarbo is even harder. Hmmm, maybe I'll perform that one soon. Thanks for watching!
@@LearnLoveMusic scarbo has a huge technical demand, it is more difficult than balakirev's slamey... perhaps scarbo is one of the most technically demanding pieces in the piano repertoire, it is really a ravel masterpiece
these 'why is it great' videos are awesome!
Thanks! Keep watching!
Working on this now. Your video clear and interesting. Nothing new, yet you play beautifully.
Thank you for watching!
Am I the only who finds this movement easier than the 1st?
yes

I've tried several different sets of fingering but I don't think my hands are big enough to be able to play the piece without leaving some notes out.

How much harder than the first movement is this?
It's definitely harder. The tempo is faster. You just need to start practicing it slowly and then build up speed.
Thanks for the reply, this video series on the sonatine has been really enjoyable to listen to and to gain knowledge from.
