I second the snorkel idea, as well as the foam around the K&N if you’re doing a lot of off roading. Also, with the cabin air filter, you can probably find a household one that you can cut down.

Try cross referencing the bronco sport cabin filter with the full size, they look the same but don’t have dimensions of the full size Broncos yet

watch when you clean the K&N filter, you have to add some oil to it after cleaning. If you put to much oil it screws up your maf (mass air flow) sensor. Ford wont fix that under warranty if they find that.

@@BuckleUpButtercupTV you made a good purchase, my brother has a K&N in his mustang GT, has had it for years. Ford just put a recall on the Bronco for the headlight switch, some people been reporting there lights going on when no one is in the vehicle. Says Ford is redesigning the switch. New one comes in October

How is your radiator and intercooler doing with all the mud?

@@BuckleUpButtercupTV well you know the cooling fins on a radiator or intercooler are spaced tight and dirt and or mud can block airflow. Intercooler airflow restrictions can cause hotter air on the intake.

You should have a foam cover over the K&N.

I have heard the oiled filters are bad for turbos, that being said I know they make oil less ones as well!

I've had oiled filters in my focus RS and fusion for about 20k miles. No issues at all I'd say thats a myth and is caused by people over oiling them. I've had a K&N system on my 04 ranger for well over 100k miles no issues.

I keep an extra K&N filter so I can take the dirty one out and stick a clean one in while the other is being cleaned, dried and oiled.

Hi Krista. I think you need a snorkel on that thing with an automatic blowback feature for your air filter lol. I'm not surprised at how dirty your filters were after that event you just did. It was seriously dusty there.
Thanks for the video and keep having fun with that bronco. 592 days and counting for my bronco... 😁

One thing I learned about having a canon style filter on a turbo vehicle. It is beneficial to have the air filter sock to keep the large stuff from getting in bedded into the filter like bugs.

  • @OneTalkerOne

K&N style filters let in more air but they also let in more dirt. I use Wix.

When I was young I always fitted a K&N air filter to my new vehicles. After finding fine desert dust coating inside the throttle body of my first Jeep, I switched back to paper filters. I have never had dirt get past a paper filter from WIX or Mopar. My Jeep is 30 years old next April. If you plan on keeping your Bronco you can't go wrong with the OEM filter. Getting the outside of a filter dirty when driving off road is normal. Off road driving requires more frequent vehicle maintenance, air filters are just one aspect.

Krista Sweetheart do whatever you want to OK. 🙏
But you need to get a Dry filter from K&N or whoever 1st, they're usually blue but can be red !!!
Oil coated filters aren't good !!!
Then get the filter mesh cover for it "Not the Foam", just use that when you are going off-road that saves the filter from dirt and water !!!
The other thing you need to get rid of the factory air system and go with at least a 3in tube cold air system, obviously use the other stuff, You will notice a nice difference !!!
if anyone tells you different they don't know what they are talking about, Don't believe me take the tube off of the throttle body and look at how dirty it is, Clean it and the air mass sensor in the air tube and I guarantee you it's going to run 10 times better !!!
Summit Racing should have what I'm talking about and
    maybe RockAuto might have it.

    • @MTCKIE68
      @MTCKIE68 2 роки тому +1

Another thing, the Throttle Body has it's own cleaning spray and the Mass Airflow Sensor has its own cleaning spray.
But they last a few cleanings. 3 maybe 4
      But it's Worth it !!!
