    Happy memories. Worked in the Confectionery end of the bakery on the main street from 1954 to 1962 with a great team the Walker brothers Jack, Joe and Himey from St Patricks Terrace and Joe Walker from Mellows Avenue, Aidan Kenny from Martins lane. I Left in '62 and went to sea. Jimmy Dunne

    My dad there in the black jumper at 14.28 with the moustache. Jim Roche,, he died 10 years after this and this is just amazing to have and see. Sincerely thank you so much for uploading this

      Thank you Sinead...yes Jim was a good friend of mine and we played soccer together regularly in the late 80's ..have great memories of him ....on facebook soon I will be uploading a four minute montage of this night set to music

    for those who don't know this bakery was situated where pettits supervalue is now. I edited the footage as the rest includes personal comments from my workmates about things like what they were going to do with their redundancy etc amongst other things they wouldn't like shared on youtube. there is also candid camera pranks from april 1987 in the bakery for this and more contact me on number above

    Nice piece of local history recorded back in the days when there were very few video cameras about The video from 1987 was interesting too great craic with the workers playing candid camera pranks on one another the original naked camera

      +Giraffe Man The video from a year earlier in 1987 was really a surprise as I had just got my camera the day before in Liverpool and none of the lads knew I had it playing candid camera stunts on them sure was fun

      +The Salty Peanuts Indeed it was and I feel privileged to have captured its last moments some of the workers have since passed on and it is nice to see and hear them again

      Yes Steve but for most of it I was behind the camera capturing this iconic moment for the bakery I'm the lad in the blue t shirt good times

    When MC Donald's came to Ireland in the mid seventies no bakery in Ireland met their hygiene standards . Downes in finglas built a new bakery to bake the burger buns . V

    Not very hygienic, clothing dirty, people touching their faces then handling the bread yuck.
