Oh just a heads up since this is one of my popular videos. NR2003 is probably one of the better games as far as having realistic wrecks go. This video was just made with me editing tracks to get ridiculous pileups.

It's too bad that for having such realistic physics, it's so old that it doesn't have fire or soft body physics. They really should remake this game so that in addition to having the realistic traction and aerodynamics, we can actually watch the cars deform, and explode like they would in reality.
Too bad Papyrus as we know it doesn't exist now, but the same group of guys are behind iRacing, so that's the closest thing we're getting to a remake of NR2003.

@spasticchuckles016 Haha thanks Ian. Talking about the grass grip at Daytona Snow, thats what I did except I put it at 3. Anyways, the AI will still wreck in a few laps lol. That is unless you change the .ini to only have AI go 2 wide or single file.

@bdc1439 it won't be dead, because the community will only be excluding people who can't appreciate the orgasmic crash physics in the game. Nr2003 crash comps will be popular until another game is made with better crash physics.
@mchammerboy Nope, this is NASCAR Racing 2003 Season made by Papyrus. It's only for the PC and is sim based, rather than more of an arcade type racer like most of EA's games were on the console...
@The99DODGER Haha thanks. That's what I think every time I see this video now lol. This was when I thought editing the AI cars to basically not have any breaks was the most awesome thing ever haha. Now...not so much.

I don't understand why current racing games can't adopt some REALISTIC physics. I'm sad to say that of AAA racing games NR2003 has the most realistic car behavior in crashes that I've seen. They don't break apart or deform realistically though sadly :(

@nr2003kid I think maybe the video just distorts things to your eye and makes it look like that, cause honest to god it's just the plain cup11s mod.
@No1JGfan i can help you with that. I actually had the same problem with 2011 SNOW. You only have to make 1 simple change. Open the folder for daytona 2011 snow, open track.ini. In the first section, there's a line that looks like this:
track_grass_grip = -1.00
change that line so it looks like this:
track_grass_grip = 1.00
the ai will work (except for pit stops/merging in practice)

Hey, do you want to make the AI more realistic? There is one very easy ini change that makes them save the car instead of locking up the brakes. open papy_ai.ini and change it to this.
crashing_recovery_slip_angle = 25 ; slip angle threshold (~ 20 degrees)below which will attempt recovery from crashing mode
crashing_recovery_yaw_velocity = 25 ; yaw vel. threshold below which will attempt recovery from crashing mode

Super late replying to this, but when you have the AI not brake and pile into a wreck the physics of NR2003 naturally cause cars to flip over. The flips in this weren't really why I made this video back in the day. It's just something that kind of happens when creating massive crashes.
@nr2003kid I tried that the other dat and I really didn't care for it. On my game it just looks so unrealistic when they're saving it.
