This an interesting concept. Whatever other people have done wrong hiding behind your name or the name of your ancestors in the past, this means you are to blame even though you didn't do or want to do any of it? Perhaps we should all investigate our own ancestry, no matter how far back we go, and take responsibility for our ancestors' mistakes and misdemeanours and anyone else's who said they were doing it on our behalf?
I too was curious. My Exeter ancestors built barrels in the same village for centuries before coming to Detroit on a boat in 1909 for more grunt work. No atrocities, yahooo!
