Excellent! The overhead shots are really useful. That's probably the best way to see the flight path and nobody does that. Really well done. Something which has helped me understand Turn vs Fade is that Turn is high speed stability and Fade is low speed stability. So a disc with a 7 3 -2 4 Has a turn of -2 and a fade of 4 which means that while it's travelling fast, it will tend to turn to the right because of the -2. But as it slows down it will fade back hard to the left because of the 4 fade. So if I don't throw the disc hard enough to get it to it's suggested speed rating, I'll never see that turn because I never got it up to it's high speed behavior. This is why distance drivers thrown too softly by newbies like me will hook so hard to the left. We never got it into it's high speed behavior so it immediately goes into it's low speed fade behavior and fades left.
Thank You M.C. (Master of Credibility?). That is the best explanation I have heard. I teach this stuff and that last sentence is MINE. Sue me LOL, I'm using it.
As a new guy to the sport this is so helpful. Also, the thing I like about the disc golf community is everybody’s having fun. That macho man breathing bit was hysterical!!!. Subscribed.
Guys thank you so much for this easy to understand explanation. No fluff just perfect helpful breakdown of the numbers and the results of each number. Best of luck to you guys 🙏
Great video!! Can you guys do a video on the difference between shooting styles (Such as an anhyzer, hyzer, etc) and the effect that they have on a throw?
This makes so much sense now. I was learning how to throw forehand with a slower and understable driver than usual. I thought it was my forehand technique but I was really just expecting the understable disc to fly like a stable one.
Nice work fellas. There’s a hundred videos explaining turn and fade but they all over explain the physics and it overshadows the simple basics. 9/10 people that bail on a new hobby do so because there’s too much information being thrown at them at the beginning.
Great video, I knew most of what was here already but liked the way you described it and showed the shots, especially the overhead shot to fully see the path, at the moment my favorite discs are stable-MVP tangent, understable-Discmania Genius and overstable Axiom Crave(becomes just stable at more arm speed) and MVP deflector
New to disc golf, this video just made me understand wtf is going on. I've read and watched a lot of information but no one explained it as simply as you guys to make it click in my head, there are way too many terribly poor teachers out there, thank you.
great videos man, been watching tons of videos on this/hyzer flips and most were pretty confusing, however both of your vids were super helpful/straight forward. thanks
look at the lens, not the screen, it's weird when one of you (dude on left) stares at himself, the other dude (right) knows to look at the camera,...trust me, it helps viewers.
Fav understable: discmania essence and dynamic discs renegade Fav stable: Kastaplast kaxe, streamline pilot fav overstable: Kastaplast grym x and Dynamic discs getaway and sergeant Great vid. would be nice if you threw some forehands with the different category discs;) Greetings from Norway.
It is truly a right-handed world, friends. As a lefty, I'm pretty used to having to translate and mirror terms like "finish to the left," but it'd be nice if people in the Disc Golf world used the terms "Front Side" and "Back Side" instead of Left and Right.
Changes all the time, but my favorite overstable disc is probably the Wraith or Roc3, and understable right now is the Roadrunner, although it's flight pattern is changing a lot as it breaks in.
My second year doing this.. last year I just threw with no regard for what those numbers mean. This year I’m paying more attention to flight paths and how those numbers affect it. Yesterday I started using a West Side tursas (turn -2 fade 1). I was throwing it 20 feet farther than my distance driver. I’m guessing due to the beginner flaws in my throwing combined with it being a more under stable and lower fade disc.
I'm new to the disc golf scene but why are we using terms like under/over "STABLE"?!? Correct me if I'm misunderstanding but this has nothing to do with stability lol an understood flight path of a disc to pull left or right at the end of its toss, makes little sense to use a descriptive term like "over/under stable" I'm really trying to learn more and get into this sport because I think it is a lot of potential but I'm having trouble understanding a lot of the terminology because it's so far-fetched.
i just got back into DG this past year and feeling like I am finding my groove in the sport. Weirdly enough I find it much easier for me to throw understable drivers and midranges. I don't know if I have a natural aptitude to understable disc, or if its a beginner thing that makes it typically easier for most. Love you vids btw. they are very helpful.
When I first started playing years ago, I learned the hard way when throwing against the wind. I was a noob and was using an understable disc. I threw a driver against the wind and the disc went way to the right.
Thanks guys, very good explanation. I d like to use my Felon but my arm speed is so low that I can only use something like diamond from latitude 64...maybe a video to explain how to increase arm speed lol
So someone pls answer this question for me. If I’m left handed is a under-stable disc going to do the opposite it would if I was right handed? I’m still a bit confused by that tbh
Fave Drivers Forehand. RHFH-OS: Firebird (duh). RHFH-Stable Star Wraith/Destroyer RHFH-US Star Beast. I can only get up to a fairway drive backhand, so RHBH-OS None. RHBH-Stable: -Star Beast/Valk. RHBH-US Z-GLide/Starlite Mamba.
Hey yes they are, but what you can find is if you throw faster with a side arm the numbers could become more in effect to your arm speed, and yes it is just flipped effect for the side compared to right hand back hand
@@RippinDiscs OK, thanks!! Really useful video! You might consider doing a sidearm video discussing the numbers and over, under, and stable as it relates to sidearm. That would be a very interesting video!
@@RippinDiscs agreed. I've played around with testers of a few of their discs at a course nearby and could see myself picking up the smaller putter they offer.
So I’m a left hand back hand thrower. If I throw an understable disc will it go to the left? I assume it’s the opposite because the rotation of the disc is the opposite too
Guys, im crying when you added the fshp fshp noises when ya hit the disc, and added the Macho Man breaking heavy when you were out of breath!! Loved all the info too!! Appreciate it my guys!!
Yes yes yes guys to the overhead shots. Because I LOVE this vid I am going out on a limb here: You need to re-edit this so there is way less talking at the beginning. Get right to the Shot and then explain it as we SEE it. Just sayin...so I hope that helps. Well done.
I have no idea why the yt algo brought me to disc golf, but these two are the most Disc Golf looking bros I've ever seen.

I heard something similar about turn and fade, but it had to do more with how fast the disc was spinning?
If you told me your names were Jonesy and Riley, I’d believe you.
Definitely one of the best comments we gotten 😂😂

I almost spat my beer out at this comment. Too funny.
But great video guys!

You guys so just simplified my life!!

Thanks for the support! And of course we can get a video like that going! Thanks for the suggestion! 🥏🥏
very well explained, should help any beginner struggling to understand flight paths! I will be referring this video to friends.

Really good, clean explanation and just the right amount of humour! Great video!
Two videos in, really likin the content so far!
Probably one of the best videos explaining this great job guys
Super cool explanation!!! Randy Savage took my out though at the end 🤣🤣
Awesome video. I'm just starting out in the sport, and this is the best explanation I have found so far on this topic!
The drone footage showing the actual trajectory to someone new was awesome. The explanation could be a little clearer and concise though. Great job
This helped a lot. Definitely a subscriber now. Thanks guys

thanks for mentioning the rotation of the disc. that will help me keep over and under stable straight forever
Great intro. Love the sound cuts to the beat of the song. Explanations are clear and concise; great!

Great video! Thank you for the content you guys really went in depth and even gave examples of when to use the discs! You're awesome!
What is the number on the bottom of the yellow disc that you said would go super straight
Thanks for the video!!
Great video thanks!
1:05, AYEEEE I'm awake now my dudes
Thanks very well explained
That's one awesome T-shirt! :D
I am super new and have been leaning on my sapphire, as long as the throw is strong is stays pretty straight.
So would the numbers do the opposite if u throw forehand as opposed to backhand?
Great job guys, I subscribed.

I throw the sheriff the vandal then the leopard and then the buzz and then finish off with judge those are my go-to lineup running down a hole

QUESTION: If I'm a lefty, should I assume that the directions you talk about in this will be reversed?
Yes exactly. We meant to talk about that but accidentally left it out!
Are the numbers the same if you're throwing sidearm or are they opposite? And is everything opposite of what you said if you're throwing sidearm?

Thank you for explaining this to people like me who had no clue what the pros meant 😂😂😂
you should affiliate link the discs you mention in the video
Cool videos mangs, just a heads up your phone number is visible in certain shots.
Yeah we def need to pay more attention😳
Finally someone explains turn that made it click for me. Thanks guys

Yes so everything is just flipped when your a lefty! Your forehand throws will be the same as a right hand back hand throw.
