People being rude about James: I wish you'd know how it is to be so much younger than your brother and be around his friends. You have so much respect for them that it usually makes you a bit quiet and shy. Because if you don't they can make fun of what you do or say very easily since they are stronger and more witty then you are at your young age. Especially guys, big brothers and their friends can be pretty intimidating :) believe me lol. It gets better as you grow older yourself but around James' age kids start to be more aware of themselves and the differences between them / older people (that's the age they start to look up to people very much as well) so they are careful not to make a fool of themselves.

Manoelle I am actually the complete opposite. My brothers ( I have 2, one is 19 one is 20) friends are comfortable around me and they all enjoy talking to me ( even though they are all 20). Also all my cousins friends are comfortable around me as well (I have 6 cousins, all older, all boys), and I feel comfortable around them and not afraid to talk to them
DogsAreLife - yep, same here. When I was younger and my brother and his mates would be around, we'd just chat. I wouldn't be shy or anything; seems some people are unaware of the simple trend that it's usually the last kid in the family (in this case James, adopted or not, he's the youngest) who will become more extroverted, funny and overall just confident. Reasons being plenty, but that's the common trend, so James being shy and awkward isn't really something 'normal'. Normal would be for him to maybe have a childish sense of humour, or to try and be TOO involved, not a lack of the involvement...
