Matt and Trey are genuinely some amazing people who continue to bring smiles and laughter in this messy world we live in. I hope they live long fulfilling lives.
From middle school to middle age, South Park has always been there to help me figure out the world and how to laugh about it. Thank you to Trey and Matt, and thank you to everyone who writes, animates, and works to keep this show up and going.
Me and my fiance would listen to DVDA daily before she passed away a few years ago. This would of been her favourite thing ever. I finally built up the courage to watch it. I won't lie I cried quite a bit.
The thing I keep thinking about watching this concert is how Trey and Matt would sometimes say in interviews that they always wished they could have been in a band, and they look at South Park as if every episode was a song and every season was an album just to keep their rock star fantasy alive. So they must have just been absolutely living their dream.
Watching this literally made me cry. These guys formed my whole childhood and then see how talented they are live, holy shit talk about emotions. I wish I would’ve gone to this concert.
Lalonde doesn’t get enough credit for being such a great guitarist. It takes so much skill to play dissonant and purposefully off key like he does in tons of primus songs and the South Park theme. Guy’s seriously awesome.
I agree. He is so underrated. He is so talented and I love watching him play. His style is so unique. And the drummers Primus has had are also underrated. Tim Alexander is a beast and Bryan "Brain" Mantia is legit one of the best drummers I have ever seen play live.
Well, to the people that matter, I don't think he's underrated. But hands down one of the best guitar players alive today, with prolly the best personality possible.
The fact that they opened with a power ballad version of Uncle Fucka is one of the most hilarious and incredible things ever. I was there the second night, with no idea what to expect, and the second Trey started singing those lyrics, I started laughing in a way I very rarely laugh, like a soul-level laugh of sheer, total, absolute delight and joy. I can't describe it, but that sense continued throughout the song. It was something I'll never forget, and every time I think about it, I feel a little bit of that kind of joy again and smile.
That’s so awesome you got to experience that - what a memory! Similar thing happened at Book of Mormon for me. The show opens with Trey’s voice doing a short intro about the history of Mormonism. You start laughing immediately with the familiar voices, then the laughter just doesn’t stop thru the whole show. I’ve never laughed like that or smiled that big for so long.
I went to the red rocks for a show in my twenties and tripped out and had the most memorable moments of my life so I can only imagine and honestly can’t even come close to imaging HOW AMAZING THIS SHOW WAS EVEN SOBER
South Park was something I litterally grew up with and seeing that Trey and Matt still have the same passion as when they first started is so uplifting for me. Its rare now and days to find that passion and care they have for the show and the fanbase. Thanks for making one of my favorite shows ever.

I still watch this regularly after a year. One of the greatest concerts of all time probably… of course I can’t attest to what happened before the 1970s or so but I can’t imagine anything other than a Beatles live performance from the early 60s could live up to this; other than Woodstock.
When I stop and think about it, these two have entertained me more, made me laugh more and lifted my mood when I needed it more than anybody else I can possibly think of over the last 25 years. I will literally NEVER stop watching South Park. This was truly very special to see.
I’m 34. I stumbled across this and it took me BACK. I had no business watching South Park back in the day lol but damn. These musical numbers are top notch.
Things that surprised me with this concert: 1. How are Trey and Matt so good with playing several instruments? Matt really surprised me with his drumming skill. 2. Having Rush reunite for the first time since 2014. Still wish Neil was still around. 3. How electric the crowd is.
@@kobybarnes3035 Danny Elfman taught himself a whole bunch of instruments because he had trouble learning from a teacher. And he didn’t even start until he was in his late teens. He said he can learn any instrument very quickly (except for harp apparently), like a month after he picked up guitar he could play a very complicated song on it, but he’s bad at reading music so he just memorized the song he wants to play and he doesn’t play a lot of instruments at concerts except for guitar and sometimes marimbas or drums because he gets bored with practicing instruments and prefers composing.
It reminds me when entertainment was better. This completely embodies the late 90s/early 2000s nostalgia. You truly realise how much better things were!
Seeing Dean and Gene Ween on stage together despite all their issues the last couple years was so wholesome. And the fact they jammed with the creators of South Park, with Primus and Rush is totally unreal.
...they have been back touring together for a few years now but the fact they haven’t released any new material in that time makes me think things are still frosty there...they used to be so prolific!
I heard that this was the second of the two show nights. They played Closer to the Heart the first night as well, but without Rush, so Matt sure knew how to play the song
@@thammar1990 definitely hearing mostly Primus' drummer. They just finished a tribute to Rush tour after Neil Peart died so they know how to play all the Rush songs for sure.
Can we talk about how South Park is the only sitcom that is run by two guys who are from a normal American town and genually care for one another and how undoubtedly grateful they are to their fans.
Matt and Trey are maestros. Multi instrumentalists, composers, screenwriters, directors, choreography, broadway, concerts, comedy, film and etc. They are true artists. Creators. I didn't know the depth of their talent and artistic reach. I'll tell my kids about these guys. How friendship, passion and America allowed for perhaps my generation's top creators to exist.
As a Canadian, I was super proud to see one of our country’s greatest songs performed on stage in front of a crowd of thousands in such a beautiful fashion.
I’m not sure people realize how awesome that is lol they swore to never play as rush again (which they didn’t) but we still get one last closer to the heart and that’s so badass
I clearly recall watching the premiere of South Park 25 years ago. It was so offensive I was forbidden from watching it by my mom and even at my school we were told it's for adults and is not a kids cartoon and anyone wearing South Park anything will be sent home to change. We still watched it and we still wore it. Later it was marathon sessions of the DVDs with my best friend... getting stoned and laughing our asses off. Even though Im gonna be 42 this year I still put on my favorite episodes on HBO max and remember all the great times and hilarious moments. Thank you Matt and Trey for this amazing creation of yours! You got a fan for life right here.
Me and my lil bro used to ninja our way to the living room and hide under a table to watch it. At one point our grandpa installed a motion tracker JUST to stop us from watching South Park.
it has been 25 years, and i have not seen anyone recognize that Les dressed himself with the exact outfit he had in the original intro including the fish on his hat which he acknowledged but nobody got . he is a true boss
No it has not been 25 years since this show was put on. And I promise you, nobody's commenting on it because it's taken for a given because _everybody_ notices. Don't hurt yourself.

Yeah, I've downloaded it and will just throw it on the background like a record. It's more than any person should be fortunate enough to get. That it's just hanging out everywhere for people to enjoy is incredible.
When Matt and Les are talking about how they got the original theme song I just realized that Trey is in the back actively wiping tears, and so far just by watching his face you can tell how much this means to him and Matt but this really solidified how much this really means to Trey, because he's just watching behind with a grin. It's very heartwarming, truly.
It was fun and they are wildly talented but you are objectively wrong. This is not even one of the best live recordings, let alone the greatest. It's ok. The material is great. This performances is good at best
When Les Claypool tells you to learn a particular song I’d think he had a clue. I was at Red Rocks during the two performances and I had a feeling it was going to happen on the Wednesday since that was the original date

Yeah, that'll always be upsetting to think about. What a more perfect universe it'd be if Isaac Hayes never split up with them and was still alive today. Me and my fiance would listen to DVDA daily before she passed away a few years ago. This would of been her favourite thing ever. I finally built up the courage to watch it. I won't lie I cried quite a bit.
Sorry for your loss 😢 ❤ pls take care x
The thing I keep thinking about watching this concert is how Trey and Matt would sometimes say in interviews that they always wished they could have been in a band, and they look at South Park as if every episode was a song and every season was an album just to keep their rock star fantasy alive. So they must have just been absolutely living their dream.
It's almost upsetting how unreasonably talented they are in so many areas.
They did have one with dvda.

Lalonde doesn’t get enough credit for being such a great guitarist. It takes so much skill to play dissonant and purposefully off key like he does in tons of primus songs and the South Park theme. Guy’s seriously awesome.

@@Nate612lol he was 17 years old when they released their debut album, if im not mistaken.

2. Having Rush reunite for the first time since 2014. Still wish Neil was still around.
3. How electric the crowd is.
It's pretty easy to realize they're both musically talented, they've done many musicals and the book of Mormon.
I’d love to see them collaborate with Danny Elfman. Are they self trained musicians too?
@@nuclearcatbaby1131 they both seem very well versed in multiple instruments and composition so I'd say they were both taught by someone.

Yeah, that'll always be upsetting to think about. What a more perfect universe it'd be if Isaac Hayes never split up with them and was still alive today.
