Oh my goodness!!! Love this! I loved the dogs reaction. My little dog would always come into the room and immediately fall asleep when I played my harp.♥️
My favourite reaction was the dogs. My dog, a Jack Russell, loves the harp and sits beside me when playing. It's about the only time she is quiet and sits still.
Oh, what fun! Your sunny personality shines through this video. I loved the dogs' and the hamster's reactions. My own dogs love harp music; my older dog (now passed), who was hard of hearing, would actually lean against the sound box so she could feel the vibrations as I played! My current dog, a Cavoodle, loves harp, too. In my house it's "must love dogs" and "must love harp music". Everyone does!
I used to have a cat, Buttercup, who would play my harp! She’d sit on a chair and pluck the strings very gently. She would also calm down and fall asleep when we played harp CDs.
Great 😂 My 2 dogs always come nap while I play. Do the LTH Reading Music Notes lesson 1 flash cards my Norwegian Elkhound woofed after each note like calling out the notes when Carrie would ask on video, “did you get that one?” -“Woof”.
I have 2 Yorkies, one of which takes off for another room..I suspect the harp music hurts her ears. BUT, the other one falls asleep everytime, sometimes on floor next to harp. Animals are so smart!!
This was great. I loved the dogs reaction. When you started playing their heads both looked up to you at the same time. The hamster seemed to like it. For the Koi maybe you needed to play a River Flows In You! 🤣 Awesome video. Thanks.
Aww, the dogs and Stripes were such a polite audience. :D My mother owns African Grey parrots, and they will very enthusiastically sing along with the harp. They're very musical!
@@LearningtheHarp My rats would always politely listen, but I think they came to the cage bars mostly because it usually means treats/affection/free roam time, and not so much the harp music. :D I haven't had a chameleon, I think that must've been a different student! (I had giant snails though! They, unfortunately, do not have ears and therefore could not have cared less. :'D)
This was fun. My brother's cats do not like any instrument I bring over. They run for cover. Is it my skill or lack of skill? LOL. Years ago, our German shepherd, Smokey, used to sing happy birthday with everyone. He would bark, howl and wag his tail.
Such a cute bunch of animals! The hamster was so sweet running to the music. The dogs was very attentive, giving you direct looks and enjoying it. As a cat person I must admit I really loved the cats reaction :) I don't think it's true that the cat didn't react (simply slept through it), because the cat changed from simply sleeping to getting into the more comfortable "I'm really safe and happy" sleeping position :)
My husband finds my playing relaxing and it sends him to sleep. Does that count? Our garden birds however, seem to think it's competition and sing lots more.
Im sure you may have answered this in other videos but what type of harp is that? I love the size it seems perfect for portability but still beautiful sound
It's a 26 string Rees Fullsicle cherry edition 😁. If you're keen to hear suggestions on portable but wonderful harps you can also join our Facebook Group and see what our awesome community would recommend! It's always great hearing from a collection of people with varying experience 😁. xx Nicole, LTH Team Member
My two Schnauzers always lay down next to my harp every time I play. If I stop to play something new they lift their heads as if to say ‘why aren’t you playing?’
My cat loves it when I play harp. He doesn’t like nonharp music. He will actually get irritated. But when I play the harp he will come around if he is awake from hiding whereever he was. And while he heard you playing he readjusted his position. I think your cats loved the harp. I think they are just cats and that is just how they react. I am very interested in the whole how do animals react to harp playing because the harp is just one of those rare instruments that calms/soothes.
Great video and I really liked the hamster reaction🐹🥰. They are such sweet pets. At the moment I have 2 budgies and they get really exited and very noisy when I play the harp. Makes it hard to record though 😬. ( btw Flipje died last year). Sending love to you all xxx
Awwww that’s so cute!! I’d love to see that. You should take a video! We’re thinking of making a follow up video with our UA-cam audience’s pets and how they respond when they play the harp 😍 Sounds like many of you have better responses than I got in this video 😆
🐹”Stripes” loved the harp and the two Lab’s until one spotted the muffler on the microphone. My 🐔hen “Fern” sits down next to me while I am practicing and also “Tara” my Lab.
😄 I also think the hamster won, but some people say the dogs’ reaction was better… I suppose it was more obvious to see the dogs’ heads move, but I could see the hamster looking so closely at what I was doing!
Maybe they’d have a slightly different response when the weather is a bit warmer. At the moment it’s winter and they just cuddle and sleep most of the day 😆
@@LearningtheHarp haha I'm exaggerating, he only peed on it once in the middle of a thunderstorm (he was super stressed out). Luckily the harp is natural maple so if he tries it again I WILL see it....... 🧐
Ja I was really hoping to play for them! They usually come running when I bring food, but I guess they weren’t hungry and weren’t in the mood for harp music 🤷🏼♀️😂
@@LearningtheHarp do the chickens count if they ran away before you even started playing? You need to try them again! But parrots would be fun, too! And correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there penguins in Capetown sometimes? You could try those 😄
I think you’re doing it wrong. I think you’re supposed to play and let them come to you. I know that when I have practice the harp at my house, my dog and my cat come to me, and then they fall asleep at my feet, as I play! I think of the harp as a siren song calls to beings to relax, feel safe and comfort.
Which reaction was your favourite? 😍
The cats sleeping :)
Hamster!
Dogs and the hamster! 😆
I loved cameraman chasing you chasing two hens around the garden with a harp!!! 😂
Woooww so cute content this morning !!^*^
Oh my goodness!!! Love this! I loved the dogs reaction. My little dog would always come into the room and immediately fall asleep when I played my harp.♥️
So cute!! 🥰
Same. My puppy would lie right near the soundboard for maximum "good vibrations" 😄
My favourite reaction was the dogs. My dog, a Jack Russell, loves the harp and sits beside me when playing. It's about the only time she is quiet and sits still.

Oh my goodness that’s amazing!! Do you have any videos or photos of her doing that? Pls send to us at hello@learningtheharp.com so I can see it 😍😍
Didn't expect Stripes to steal the show. What a fun video! Thanks for sharing!
Ja it was so cute seeing him running closer and then staring up at me with those little eyes 😍

YESS HAMSTERS!!! Thanks for featuring one!
Incredible music.very melodious...
Thanks! 😄

I love that perspective!! It was sweet to see them stirring and looking so comfortable, thanks for pointing that out 😍
P.s. we put the harp on the edge of the pond. I think it’s the vibrations they would come too unless they think they’re going to be fed lol
That’s a good idea! 😄
That's so cute. I like the hamster the best.

That’s funny 😂 Very cool that the birds sing more! I’d love to see a video of that 😍
I liked the dogs reaction, best. I think the hamster was enjoying just being out of his cage! That was fun!
Haha, that’s what Nicole said too! Agree to disagree 😋😆
My cats love my harp and my chromatic lyre. My 11yo cat Mikki died in my arms listening to harp music. 😢🎶
So sad, but so special 🥲💕
My sister's cat is ENTRALLED by my harp! Whether tuning it or leaving to play it, he will rub his face into the strings and purr. He loves live music!
Oh wow!! So maybe I just chose the wrong cats for my experiment 😆
@@LearningtheHarp my sister adopted him several years ago and in his paperwork, it said he loves music. I was so surprised at his reaction to my harp!
My dogs get closer to the harp while I play. My old will even be laying next to it while I play to feel the vibration.
Awww that’s lovely. Maybe one day when I have my own dog they will be relaxed and enjoy the harp like that. So special!

So high pitched, my doggies love lower tones on the harp
Oh that’s interesting! I didn’t think of that. None of my pets have ever really reacted much to the harp 😄

My cats love harp 💖 great video xx
Do they listen, or do they sleep? 😄
Get that hamster a micro harp !
He's clearly keen....😅
😂😂👌🏻
🤣 Chicken part is so challenge, they are all over the place. Probably birds love it 🥰
I would love to see what happens when a person plays harp for a parrot! 😍
When I play my flute, my puppy "sings" along!! I can't tell if he likes it or not!! But both dogs fall asleep to the harp...
Oh wow! 😂 Maybe that makes you spend more time with your harp and less time with your flute, haha.
My cats run away when I practice. That may be because of my playing. LOL
Same here😅!
Hahaha that’s so funny!! I’m sure it’s just the frequency of the music, it sounds like different animals experience it very differently 😄

The hamster wins. Maybe rodents. We have Rabbits that come to the harp. Is a deer a rodent. They seem to like harp music too. A fun video.

Try mosquitoes! I'm certain they'd respond.
(Buying calamine lotion futures now...)

HAHA I love this, thank you for doing this! My dog is indifferent but at least he doesn't try to pee on the harp. .........much
