Can this plane flight from ft Lauderdale to Bimini Please let me know how far can go. With those. 20 gallons like you say will handle in a flight thanks
Acredito que o avião anfíbio será o substituto do carro para longa distância, assim como para o lazer. Parabéns pelo vídeo e Sucesso. São Paulo capital…Brasil.
Exactly! Nice vid but I was disappointed there was no video of a crash landing or in-flight breakup... or some other water. I guess any water, even *tap water!* It's so hard to know what I want when the qualitative execution of my previous post was rubbish! (Martin, I'm just having a little innocent fun mate)
Mike...again...thanks for the good content... Looks nice... A bit out of my budget... Did you ever had the chance to try the Searey... If not look for it....they are out Florida... I will like to see a comparison between the two... Would not ask about the Icon-1 since they had few incidents recently....
Thanks for the nice review Mike! That looks like a nice amphibian. Is one of the purpose for the low wing to have "outrigger" pods for stability on the water?
Hi Todd, I fly the airplane several times a week, seldom get the sponson wet. If you are doing step turns, they assist in keeping the lower wing up and out of the water. Not really a stability thing.
I do like this plane. It's sleek! I like the landing gear compared to the Searey. But I think prefer the sliding doors of the searey, and I don't think there's a kit version of the super petrel?
I personally don't think it's a nice looking plane and it's actually rare for me not to like the look of an aircraft, but I can tell you this is one aircraft I truly don't like the look of. If it was a single wing aircraft it would look a lot nicer, that bottom short wing makes it look very weird, but hey everyone has their preference.
Why not the added capability of a parachute? That no alternative of it, mathematically demands the logic that i) you forever have to perfectly fly the plane and that ii) an uncontrollable spin can never happen. (Remember, you do not have any flaps). Making it possible that you do not have to enen know how to fly the plane to survive a crash is a great idea. Example: You are a passenger and in flight the pilot dies of a heart attack or goes unwakeable coma: If you can read an altimeter (or not), the one and only thing you can have been instructed to do to save yourself, the pilot and the plane is to pull one lever in an uncontrollable spin, rather than try to on a radio simultaneously take an instantaneous flying lesson from a flight controller who has never flown that kind of plane before. Plus, plus, whether pilot or not, you have an "When all else fails, you have a button and/or redundant lever to literally "bail you out." And, and, a child five year old family passenger can be successfully told how to press a button or pull a small lever if daddy or mommy can't fly the plane. Put a cover over the button or lever so that it takes two (2) intentional movements to deploy the parachute and more prevent it from accidentally being deployed. And, yes, it takes away an objection from any other competitor in that market that they have that and you don't, so matter if they are selling a Jenny (look it up), they are ultimately safer than your plane, no matter how untrue that statement is or would be. Think it over. Don't let that decision be made by someone in the builder's company who quite possibly can't even pilot your wonderful Petrel, the best plane in that market.
you are a nice guy and i am happy you are doing this but geeeez you are talking like we haven't flown before...i think most views are from pilots not wannabees smarten up your presentation - and use the word fadec if the engine management has that.
Love you're videos. I don't mean to darken the mood but do you get any racist attitude , not the casual racism we have to put up with but the real deal. I'm Irish and what I mean about casual racism its like " you people are probably too drunk or stupid too fly". Or don't fly with him on the holidays. Its the trump era I was just wondering
Actually...this is how it should be...you live in a free country and you are free to do your hobbys without any political implications. The problem with our era is that politics is everywhere, even where it shouldn't be.
Best way to cope with racism is to accept that it exists. I try my best to stay away from politics especially on this channel. My only goal is to share the love for airplanes and flying. That said, most people that I've met in the aviation community have been nothing but kind, accepting and very generous with their time.
Sean Farrell In the aviation community you would have a hard time finding racists, most people are really nice. I have a black friend and we're both pilots, he said he feels like everyone in the aviation community is like a family no matter what race you're, he said he feels more at home with all his white and Asian aviation friends sometimes then his own family and friends at home, and that's what he said he loves the most. The only thing he always tells me is that he wishes more black people would get into aviation because it's still rare to see black people that are into general aviation, but more and more black people are getting into it. I am actually the one that got him into flying after I took him for a flight and he was hooked immediately, within 9 months he had his license. He told me the only thing he gets is people sometimes asking him what got him into flying because they don't see to many black Aviation enthusiasts, but he doesn't take that as they're being racist it's simply people being curious about something they don't see a lot of. Now since he got his license he got his cousin hooked on aviation who is about to do his first solo on Wednesday.
I definitely agree with Mike the best thing to do Is to except it and acknowledge it To yourself that racism exist not only in America but around the world it’s impossible to please everybody in this world there’s people go to dislike you and there’s people can I love you to your core I come from a very mixed family from Multiple race, sex orientation, to Religion, The important part is just be true to yourself and just breathing good shit and breathe out the bullshit
Yes, you may be able to fly there faster and crash quicker in an Icon that as a practical matter is unable to be obtained anyway from lack of production numbers. I like the guys who think a less safe more costly unobtainable plane is better than the Super Petrel because of it's looks. Tell that to the guys picked out of the water by those 'ugly' PBY's.
Love the amphibians. Something about the versatility of being on land and water is awesome
Indeed, I love the idea. I want one badly.lol Literally just land on the lake, engines down, anchor down and hop in for a swim.lol So cool.
always enjoy your videos. Thanks again Mike
Thanks for sharing this and the other interesting aircraft to us. Great job!
I've always liked the Super Petrel. It's superior to the Icon A5 in all the areas that I consider important, and it's hell of a lot cheaper to boot.
It's slower, no parachute and this year's price is 207...basic..no air, no avionics.

The brazilian planes in general are amazing, you should make a video of the Seamax M2 too.
Just a correction Seamax M22
With the engine that far behind you, did you think the cabin noise was any less than a conventional front engine?
Beautiful
Is there any way to supplement the existing fuel tanks for more fuel load ?
Just found your videos. Awesome stuff dude.
What is the purpose of two wings versus only having one??

What a plane! I am going to put this on my 2018 Christmas list, along with the Mosquito in your other video. Thanks!
Can the seats be adjusted for a 5.1 feet guy to fly such that the legs reach the rudder pedals?
The factory makes rudder pedal extensions for shorter pilots down to 5'.
@mojogrip which one is better Super petrel or Seamax

What are the wings covered with? Fabric? It looks like a shrink covering with ribs showing.
it is so cute!!
superb
Nice vid but I was disappointed there was no video of a landing and take off on the lake we saw...or some other water.

Looks like heaven to me :)
Whats the prop angle??
One Brazilian here 🇧🇷
Thanks, nice video. Just subscribed.
You should get into aircraft sales. You would be good at it.
Man that's pretty.
Cool plane, Mike. I'd like to own one when i grow up..☺
Wings Not foldable means expensive to transit and storage.
Another great video.
Awesome no mixture propeller knob must be FADEC I believe??
Great video. City of Ormond Beach that was where I did my flight training. At Sunrise Aviation.

Isn't this a restricted use LSA to those with a light sport license ?

Nobody ia waiting for that any more, lol.
The possibility of retrofitting this fuselage airframe to a autogyro
Like you videos. Thanks buddy !
You are flying in Florida. Can you discuss salt water flying and corrosion please?
Parachute?
Didn't notice rudder pedals.

If u could buy an F-16, would you? (Any variation)
It's not a good looking plane but when I saw one in person landing on water I was like "Wwwooowwww"
Nice video, congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻
No flaps?
Correct
I just don't like fabric wing's that's the only issues
Good walk around. I just watched 10 videos wanting to see the interior and the idiots stood outside the plane discussing what we already knew
Where are all the water landings I expected when I read "amphibian airplane"? :(

MADE IN BRAZIL
Those brake lines seem a little precarious...
I flew Petrel for over 400 hours, brake lines were no issue
There appears to be zero space for luggage, or even an overnight bag.
It is refreshing to see ethnic africans enjoy some of the best products of European civilization 👍😀

The beauty is in the functionality. But I'm from a family of engineers.
